The Beginning.

In High School, I had a choice to make: where I wanted to go study. Most of my friends decided to go near our town, Blainville. So, they all went to Lionel Groulx. Me, there were many programs that interested me. Some of them were in Lionel Groulx and some at Ahuntsic.

Choice 1 : Lionel Groulx.

Choice 2 : Ahuntsic.

In Lionel Groulx, I hesitated in two programs. One because I wanted to become a doctor and the other one because I wanted to become a veterinarian.

Choice 1 : Nature Science.

Choice 2 : In Animal Health Technology.

Ahuntsic.

At this college, techniques that I did not find in colleges near me interested me. I was always interested in law and helping people. I wanted to become a lawyer but a police officer at the same time.

Choice 2 : Being in Law and Paralegal Technology.

Nature Science.

I knew that to become a doctor, I had to put all my concentration into studying. So, there were two options left for me. I could either break up with my boyfriend and become depressed, or make a plan to balance school and my social life.

Mm...I said that I would be depressed. If I become depressed, I have no future left. You should have listened. Now try again and make a good choice now.

By making a plan that would balance my life, I succeeded in the Nature Science program. What do I do now? Should I pass an interview with Human resources or should I find myself a dead-end-job?

Do you know what is a dead-end job? A dead-end job is a job where you can't move to a better position even though it's been 24 years since you have been doing this job. It is a job where there is no career development. You don't want to be in this place. It is not a good option. Try again.

I had to prepare myself to make a good impression on Human resources' employees. I knew that they had to link my background and check if I had many leaves of absence in my last jobs. I knew that I would have to talk about what I wanted in a job. I want many vacations, and many benefits, like a good salary and a good pension. I also want to retire early. Should I really say this in my first interview?

Thank you. By taking this path, I have successfully made a good impression on Human resources' employees in my first interview. Unfortunately, the second interview didn't go as planned...The interviewer was my last boss. He didn't have good office politics in my last job. He made me feel undermined, I was letting myself get sucked up in. He also obliged me to work overtime without being paid. I couldn't handle a situation like this again. For that, I dropped my dream to become a doctor. You now have to go back to the beginning to choose another program to graduate.

In my third semester in this program, I had a chance to volunteer abroad. I could go to Africa or Australia.

Oh. Well. That didn't go as planned. By volunteering abroad, I thought that I would learn new skills with animals, live an invaluable experience, learn to know people in-depth, and I would feel important. But in Australia, it was a mess. A fire spread in the Amazon forest exactly when we arrived. I took that as a sign. So, I dropped out of College. Maybe, it was better in Africa. Try again.

It was awful. When I arrived, a lion ate my friend. I got traumatized. I then got on a plane and we crashed. Both of my legs and arms got paralyzed. I can't do anything with my life anymore. Animal Health Technology was not for me. Try again.

In Police Technology.

In my second semester in Police Technology, I could have the chance to do an internship. I hesitated in two places to go. It was either Montreal or Blainville.

Choice 1 : The internship in Blainville.

In Blainville, my hometown, the police officer who helped me get a foot on the job was very mean. He didn't care about me and didn't care to teach me the ropes. On-the-job training was supposed to bring out the experience...but it didn't. I regretted my choice and I would have liked to choose Montreal instead of Blainville. Try again.

The internship in Montreal.

This internship was insane. It really gave me a chance to test-drive the job. I learned the ropes. I lived an unbelievable experience. It made me sure to want to become a police officer. It is a very difficult program, and I had to be in good shape. Should I have started to train?

Choice 1 : Yes.

Choice 2 : No.

BAD DECISION. If you don't have the motivation to be in good shape to become a police officer, how are you going to catch up with a criminal who is running away??? Nope. You have to be in good shape to become a police officer. Try again.

Good shape = good police officer. As I was in good shape, I graduated. I now have the option of where to go. I didn't want a dead-end job. I wanted to start as a police officer and then become an investigator. I hesitated in two options: Montreal or Laval.

In Laval.

Laval wasn't a good option for me. I was a victim of corruption. I wasn't in a good position compared to my manager. I knew that Bribes could take different forms and involve complex schemes. In this situation, he committed thefts by leaving work very early even if he didn't finish his shift. He made threats to fire me if I arrested less than 10 people by day. Sometimes, he was being exaggerated and pushed too far for his threats. Because of that, one of my colleague's left. It was an ingrained behaviour of his. This is why I left too. I think Montreal would have been a better option for me. Try again.

YOU SUCCEED!! By choosing Montreal, I made the best choice of my life. Being a Police officer is the job for me and Montreal made me realize it. By choosing to become a police officer, I won the prize of the happiest life. You can now go back to the beginning and see what would happen if I had chosen a different path.

Being in Law and Paralegal Technology.

Being in Law and Paralegal Technology was very difficult for me because I didn't get straight A's. If I wanted to succeed, I would have to have time management as my best friend. There was a lot of reading to do and because of that, I had to pay attention to what I was reading and be careful to not do a cursory study. I had to do thoughtful homework because it influenced my grades. After that, if I had great grades, I would be proud of the efforts I pulled off. But, it was maddeningly difficult to get straight A's and this, in every program. It always seemed like everybody else was always pulling off straight A's. I had to put all the effort and energy I had into reaching my goal of passing my classes. To me, having a balance between school and hobbies is an essential thing. I had to put aside some time to do other things than studying, and in this program, I couldn't do that. This is why choosing this program wasn't a good choice for me. Try again.
