The end of high school.

It was the end of high school. I wasn’t sure what to do next. Nevertheless, two choices were available to me.

Choice 1 : Apply to Garneau CEGEP in Quebec and study Police Technology.

Choice 2 : Apply to Ahuntsic College in Montreal and study Police Technology.

I decided to go to Ahuntsic College. I didn't get straight A's. I had a lack of motivation, and ore often then not I didn't want to go to my courses. Should I keep going?

Choice 1 : Keep going!

Choice 2 : Give up.

After all that roller coaster, I got straight A's. In some of my courses, I did a cursory job, and because of my time management skills, I was able to pull off very good grades in all of courses. I even did an internship with my college, and it has come in handy, it helped me learn the ropes. I did 2 interns, one in Montreal (SPVM), and one in Quebec (SPVQ). After 3 great years in Police Technology, I graduated from Ahuntsic College, I went to the Quebec National Police Academy (ENPQ) for fifteen weeks straight. That academy is kind of like an on-the-job training but in a scholar context. I can now apply for a job that will lead me to a career as a Police officer. Considering I did two internships, in Quebec and Montreal, and I liked them both, where should I apply?

Choice 1 : Apply to the SPVM in Montreal, and start my career as a new police officer.

Choice 2 : Apply to the SPVQ in Quebec, and start my career as a new police officer.

It always has been my dream to work in Montreal for the SPVM. I am now officially a trainee, and I have my on-the-job training this week, so I will learn the ropes and see how the other police officers are working, so it comes in handy for my future work. I am doing a test drive by doing my on-the-job training, I will be able to see if I really like the job or not. While I was starting to get a little bit of experience, some of my coworkers were starting to get in trouble because of their acts. I didn't want to get sucked up in their problems, so I talk to my boss about it. Not too long after I talked with him a nice woman at Human Ressources called me and asked me where I want to work next. I had two positions in y mind, and neither of them positions comes with a premium wage. I can't make up my mind. Which one should I choose?

Choice 1 : Become a K9 dog trainer at the SPVM.

Choice 2 : Become a Marine patrol officer at the SPVM.

I chose the first of the two options because I always had a big passion for dogs. Now, I am a K9 dog trainer at the SPVM. This job requires a lot of overtime and good knowledge in English, because the course to become a K9 dog trainer is only available in English. Luckily, everything I learned in my English courses at Ahuntsic College will come in handy while taking the course. At the station where I work, everyone is close one to another, which can have advantages and disadvantages, but in this case it has advantages. Because of that, my boss decided to do something fun for the Holidays. Normally, despite the office politics, I try not to get sucked up in their dramas and office intrigues, but in this case I was intrigued. After a difficult day at work filed with drudgery and alienation, my boss asked for some advice about the Holidays. I said, “If I were you, I would…”.

Choice 1 : Organise a Christmas party with a lot of alcohol.

Choice 2 : Don’t do a Christmas party and just say merry Christmas to everybody.

That was very bad advice. I got sucked up in the vibe, and I drank way too much. I had to go to the hospital, and passed all of my Christmas break there.

Choice 1 : Go back to the start and make better life choices

I decided to go to Garneau CEGEP in Quebec because I wanted to move into my own apartment and to be able to study in the field that I want too. My 3 years in Police Technology passed very fast. I was a genius in school. In my course criminal law, I almost got straight A’s for all of my exams. I had a course of intervention, and I was very good too. I then knew that I wanted to work in the judicial field, and I wanted a lot of action in my career, like arresting perpetrators, doing crime prevention, going on a barefoot pursuit, and a lot of these types of things. I did an internship at the SPVQ, and I hurt my leg in an intervention, I went to the hospital, and they told me that it would take a long time to heel. At that point, I didn’t know what to do, either wait until my leg was completely heeled, or give up on my dream career and go study in a field that you don’t need to have a leg to be in it. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Change career.

My leg was taking too long to heel, and I didn’t want to have a late retirement because of it, so I change of career. I decided to stay in Garneau CEGEP and apply in Criminal Law. Because I have had great notes in the past, I was able to enter the program. I liked it a lot. I was already out of school, I did all of my internships and on-the-job training, so I was ready to start my new career. After 15 years of being an attorney, I had already a good amount of money that I had set aside for my retirement. That is why I was considering retiring myself sooner than I had expected. I liked my new career, but the drive of work was getting smaller day after day. Should I retire?

Choice 1 : Yes, retire

Give up.

I had too much pressure on me, and I wasn’t able to pull off straight A’s, I found it very maddening, so I decided to quit school. I did not found a job for a little while, and because of that, I had too much free time. In that free time, I did things that I would have never done before. I stole in a store, I drove when I was drunk, I slapped my boyfriend, and much more. I became a perpetrator. I was getting arrested a lot. I asked myself, should I just stop and accept that I have to go to jail.

Choice 1 : Yes, go to jail.

Apply to the SPVQ in Quebec, and start my career as a new police officer.

I finally applied for the SPVQ, but my boyfriend didn’t want to move to Quebec City, so we broke up, and I ended up in a depression.

Choice 1 : Continue to cry

Become a Marine patrol officer at the SPVM.

I applied to be a Marine patrol officer, but after a little while there was a lot of office politics, and I didn’t want to get withheld by them, or to get sucked up in their dramas, so I quit and apply to be a K9 officer.

Choice 1 : Become a K9 dog trainer at the SPVM.

Don’t do a Christmas party and just say merry Christmas to everybody.

My boss used my advice and everyone was mad at him for just saying merry Christmas without a party. They made a complaint and my boss got fired, so did I for giving him that advice.
