Deciding between attending dental hygiene school or pursuing a path toward becoming a high school teacher after graduating with a Social Science degree presents a compelling dilemma. With my DEC in Social Science, I should naturally go to university, but recently I have been interested in the dental hygienist career too. Dental hygiene offers stability and a direct career route, promising financial security and professional fulfillment. Conversely, aspiring to become a high school teacher aligns with a deeper passion for education and influencing young minds, although it may involve additional years of study and uncertainty. The dilemma lies in balancing personal interests, financial considerations, and the desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. What should I do? Go to university to become a high school teacher or return to cegep to become a dental hygienist.
