The narrative of my possible future.

It all started like this.

My years of hard work in the Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention program are over. I have to find a place I'd like to work in. Fortunately for me, I had a few internships during my program which helped me a lot to find out what I would like to do or not. I know I would not want to work in a prison or a penitentiary. What I would do like, for now, is to work as an agent at a youth center or a youth club.

Choice 1 : Work at a youth center.

Choice 2 : Work at a youth club.

Work at a youth center.

I love working here even though my salary is not what I thought it would be. My colleagues are fun to work with and our clients are really challenging, everyday is a new story with them. My boss offered me a promotion to work as the leader of the team at the other unit. I don't know if I'm ready to do it.

Choice 1 : Transfer to another unit.

Choice 2 : Stay in my unit.

Work at a youth club.

After working there for almost a year I realized this place wasn't for me. It wasn't challenging enough and I don't have the creativity to invent new activities or other things to make our clients happy of our services. I decided to stay with children but the troubled ones at the Director of Youth Protection. I have to choose between Montreal and Laval.

Choice 1 : Director of Youth Protection of Montreal.

Choice 2 : Director of Youth Protection of Laval.

Transfer to another unit.

Wow! This unit is amazing, there is just enough challenge, my salary is just what I needed and it will keep increasing by the time goes by. I think I will stick around here for a long time and even stay until my retirement.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had chose another direction.

Stay in my unit.

Staying here was not such a good idea. Turns out I didn't listen very well when he told me about my promotion because if I stay here, I won't be able to have that promotion. It's either I talk to my boss about only my salary or I quit my job.

Choice 1 : Talk to my boss.

Choice 2 : Quit my job.

Director of Youth Protection of Montreal.

At first, I was very good at my job and it didn't affect me, but then I had a case involving a 3-year-old girl in a blended family going through a really tough time. She was physically, mentally, psychologically and sexually assault by almost all her family except for her older sister and step-sister who lived the same horrible life. I couldn't take it and it really affected me because I had put too much time on this case. It drove me to an important depression and went to a psychiatric hospital. After my treatment was finished, I work for the rest of my life in a veterinary clinic as their secretary.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had chose another direction.

Director of Youth Protection of Laval.

I love working here! It is the most challenging job I ever had! Recently though, I had a case about a young girl named Emilia. Her mother was dead a few years ago and her father and brothers were physically, psychologically and sexually assaulting her. I couldn't let this poor child in this family so I brought her to my house for a night. After completing assessing her situation, it was time for the direction of her case and I didn't have access anymore to her case. I would like to adopt her, but I am not sure it could work.

Choice 1 : Adopt her.

Choice 2 : Let her in the hands of Child Protection Services.

Talk to my boss.

I went to see my boss and he told me he could increase my salary and maybe take his place in a near future if people with a higher power than him accept to have me. In the mean time he would love for me to stay because he thinks I am a very important part of the team and I make a difference in our client's lives. Should I stay or leave?

Choice 1 : Stay a little longer.

Choice 2 : Quit my job.

Quit my job.

I decided my salary wasn't enough, rise or not, comparing with not enough challenge, so I left. I went to Cuba with my best friend right after giving my resume to a halfway house and a detoxification center. When I came back, both places wanted me to work for them.

Choice 1 : Work at a halfway house.

Choice 2 : Work at a detoxification center.

Adopt her.

It worked! It was a very long process but she is finally in good hands with me and she looks happy in her new house. Before the process I had a boyfriend for almost a year and he told me he'd like to be his adoptive father too. We have decided to become an adoptive family and adopt more children in need. Our house may be too small if we're going to adopt more children.

Choice 1 : Move somewhere else.

Choice 2 : Stay in our house.

Let her in the hands of Child Protection Services.

I have decided to let her in the hands of the Child Protection Services. I couldn't risk losing the job I have and I think I would like to study Social Work at a university to be able to work in the Direction part at the Director of Child Protection. All I have to decide is which university I want to go to.

Choice 1 : Study Social Work at the University of Montreal.

Choice 2 : Study Social Work at the University of Quebec in Montreal.

Stay a little longer.

Staying a little longer was profitable at the end. Remember when my boss told me I could maybe have his place at the youth center? Well I'm there now, and on top of all, I can transfer whenever I want to another unit to have more challenge. I stayed here until my retirement and had a great life!

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had chose another direction.

Work at a halfway house.

It is great working here, clients are men between 18 and 70 years old at the moment and they are nice. Since I have already been an intern here for my last internship I already knew some of my current co-workers and they are very kind to me. The only thing annoying me is my employer. He is constantly flirting with me and saying no to him doesn't seem like an option. Yesterday he grabbed my butt in his office during an ''important meeting'' between him and me. Today, I took the day off and I really don't know what to do with this situation.

Choice 1 : Continue to put up with my boss.

Choice 2 : Talk to someone about my boss.

Work at a detoxification center.

I am currently working in a detoxification center as an agent. Some of my clients are intense to work with but some are nice. One of them, named Carter, is really kind and will soon leave the center being clean for almost 2 years. Carter and I have this connection, I know it is against our office politics but I think I might like him. He offered me to go to a party his friends are hosting to congratulate him for is 2 years of sobriety. Should I go or not?

Choice 1 : Accept my client's offer to go out.

Choice 2 : Decline my client's offer.

Move somewhere else.

We are now in a wonderful house with our child Emilia. We are not sure if we want to adopt from here or from outside of Quebec.

Choice 1 : Adopt from Quebec.

Choice 2 : Adopt from outside of Quebec.

Stay in our house.

I am pregnant!!! We put aside our plans for adoption for now and concentrate on how will we name our future child. My boyfriend wants Michael and I would love to name him Leo.

Choice 1 : Name our child Leo.

Choice 2 : Name our child Michael.

Study Social Work at the University of Montreal.

I don't think university is for me. It is really hard to keep up because teachers are strict and there's too much information to remember at the same time. In addition, I didn't make any good friends. So, I left school and now I don't know what to do anymore with my life.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had chose another direction.

Study Social Work at the University of Quebec in Montreal.

University is so nice!! I love all of my teachers here and I have made many acquaintances since I started. My grades are pretty high too. There is this party tonight to celebrate the end of our mid-term exams. I don't know if I should go because I have an important exam tomorrow that counts a lot, I am prepared but not as much as I'd like to.

Choice 1 : Go to the party.

Choice 2 : Stay home to study.

Continue to put up with my boss.

After the day he grabbed my butt, it continued and now he can't stop touching me! I'm trying to defend myself but he really doesn't take a no or anything I try to make him back off for an answer! I even punched him one day and ran away but the day after it was like nothing happened. Should I bring him to court or just do nothing and quit because I don't know if there is enough evidence.

Choice 1 : Bring my boss to court.

Choice 2 : Do nothing about my boss.

Talk to someone about my boss.

I decided to talk to my best friend about my boss. She told me I can't live like that anymore and I had to do something. The only problem is I need this job right now, and I am afraid of what might happened. She told me I should initiate a lawsuit against him. I told her I would maybe prefer to just do nothing and quit. Maybe she's right but I don't know what to do.

Choice 1 : Bring my boss to court.

Choice 2 : Do nothing about my boss.

Accept my client's offer to go out.

I have been shot by a random guy who entered the house where the party was. I didn't make it to the hospital so I am dead.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had chose another direction.

Decline my client's offer.

I told my client I couldn't go out with him because our relation needs to be strictly professional. He understood but he said he would wait for me until he's out. Later when he left the center, I called him and we dated for 15 years before he died of overdose in a motel far away from where we lived. I never had a boyfriend or husband after him and died as a crazy cat lady.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Adopt from Quebec.

I still can't believe I have a second adopted child! His name is Chad and he is 3 years old. Before us, he lived with his family. His biological parents physically abused him and he was very neglected too by them. Chad and Emilia lived a happy life filled with love and both became social workers.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Adopt from outside of Quebec.

We could not afford an adoption outside of Quebec so we decided to adopt from here. We welcomed twins in our house, a girl named Lily, and a boy named Liam. They are 5 years old and they are very kind and shy! Liam is very protective of his sister, I assume it is because of their past and it is understandable. Later, Emilia, Lily and Liam were old enough to travel so we decided to do so. We just couldn't decide between Disney and Cuba.

Choice 1 : Go to Disney Land.

Choice 2 : Go to Cuba.

Name our child Leo.

Leo it is! He turned out to be a really generous and king boy we love him and Emilia with all our hearts and lived a happy life full of love.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Name our child Michael.

His name is Michael, he has a huge attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and it is really difficult to control him. He is a drug addict and had many problems with the police until he died doing drug trafficking. He was stabbed by a member of his gang who worked for another gang. I died of grief over him.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Go to the party.

I went to the party and met this guy who's very attractive. We danced and drank all night and it was marvelous. The morning after, I woke up with this huge hangover. I threw up a few times before I could realize where I am. I was on the campus, lucky me, but when I looked at what time it was, I had 20 minutes before my exam starts. After my exam, the guy invited me to a date. Should I go or not?

Choice 1 : Go to the date.

Choice 2 : Don't go to the date.

Stay home to study.

Thinking I have had enough parties and will have other chances to party later, I stayed home to study. I had the best grade of my class and finished university at the top of graduated students to. After that, I applied to work at Ahuntsic College and Maisonneuve College to be a Juvenile Delinquency teacher.

Choice 1 : Work at Ahuntsic College.

Choice 2 : Work at Maisonneuve College

Bring my boss to court.

It was a very long process but it appears that some of my co-workers knew about it and one of them was victim of sexual harassment by him too. They all came together to testify against him. He is now in a penitentiary for 3 years and we won't hear from him again. I lived a happy life after that, few difficulties with relationships but I resoled the problem with psychotherapy.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Do nothing about my boss.

So, I decided to do nothing about my employer and just quit without any job termination notice. It really felt good have power again on myself and my decisions. I am packing at the moment to go on a humanitarian trip in Africa alone or with my best friend. I am still waiting for her answer.

Choice 1 : A humanitarian trip alone.

Choice 2 : A humanitarian trip with my best friend.

Work at Ahuntsic College.

At the moment, I am teaching youth delinquency at Ahuntsic College. I love my job here and students are amazing. It has been 10 years since I work here and my boss told me he thinks I am a good teacher, and I should go teach at a University. I didn't think it was possible until two of my former teachers at the University of Quebec in Montreal asked me to become a teacher. I have to chose which course I want to teach.

Choice 1 : Teach intervention with families and relatives.

Choice 2 : Teach theories of social problems and marginality.

Work at Maisonneuve College.

I didn't like it here so I decided to go teach at Ahuntsic College.

Choice 1 : Work at Ahuntsic College.

A humanitarian trip alone.

This was the best idea I have ever had. I have been here for a year, and I am not sure if I should go back or stay.

A humanitarian trip with my best friend.

We have done so many things to help people in need here. My best friend (who is now my girlfriend) and I love being here. She thinks it is time to go home but I would love to stay here a little longer.

Choice 1 : Go home.

Choice 2 : Stay here.

Teach intervention with families and relatives.

Teaching at a university is much more fun than at a college. Every student I have met really want to be here so they do everything they can to have good grades and finish their bachelor's degree. I taught there a very long time before retiring and I had a good work pension so my retirement was full of travelling.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Teach theories of social problems and marginality.

I loved teaching this course! I became a famous university teacher not long after becoming one. I guess teaching was meant for me! I traveled a lot to do conferences and also became a university lecturer. My retirement was full of traveling and relaxation from all those hard work years before.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Go back to Quebec.

When I came back, I decided to work as a street worker to help homeless people or any other people in need. I worked there until the age of 60 and then I worked at a homeless shelter and did a lot of volunteering there, or everywhere I could just to help people.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Stay in Africa.

I decided to stay in Africa to continue helping people in need. I met a volunteer, we fell in love and traveled around the world to do humanitarian work.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Go home.

My girlfriend and I went home to build our own center to help poor people develop skills to have a more comfortable life. We died being very happy to have helped all those people in need and our shelter became very popular in Quebec and Canada.

Choice 1 : Sometimes, we wonder what would've happened if we had make another decision.

Stay here.

After staying here for a few more years, my girlfriend and I broke up. She left Africa and I decided to stay and go to Europe since I have never been there. I traveled a lot before coming back to Africa again and help the same people I have helped before. They thank me for dedicating all this time to help them by building a house in my name. I was filled with so much joy that I decided to establish my new home here. I lived there for the rest of my life.

Don't go to the date.

Instead of going to the date, I went to the bar with my friends. We drank a little and went clubbing. We danced all night and had a lot to drink. When I came back, the guy from last night was standing in front of my dorm room. We went to have a coffee, talked a lot and laugh a lot too. Turns out he was really nice. We were together for 20 years until he left me for a guy whom he cheated on me with. We died happy but separate ways.

The End.
