My Career in Education

The First Semester.

It was my first semester at college. I was going into the Social Science program. I decided my field of study was going to be education since I wanted to become a teacher in the future. I needed to make a decision about how my semester should go. Should I try and pull of straight A's or try to finish college before anyone of my friends by taking way too many classes?

Choice 1 : Do some homework everyday, even if the teacher does not assign any.

Choice 2 : Register for 14 classes this semester.

Do some homework everyday, even if the teacher does not assign any.

Every day I do my homework, even if there isn't any assigned by the teacher. I review the course notes and have even joined a study group to help me with my time management and to try and pull of my goal of getting straight A's.

Choice 1 : The study group was proving to be a wise decision. It's allowing me to focus my attention and pull of good grades.

Choice 2 : The study group was starting to become a distraction. There was a really hot guy in the group and I couldn't stop staring at him.

Register for 14 classes this semester.

I am already impatient with the semester, so I register for 14 classes hoping to bring the drudgery of school to a quicker end. Luckily, the registrar does not say anything about my choice to do 14 classes. I come away feeling that the people working there are rather irresponsible for allowing a student to take this many courses.

Choice 1 : I thought I was Hermione Granger and could be in two different classes at once.

Choice 2 : This was quickly becoming apparent that this was a very bad idea...

The Study Group.

The study group was proving to be a wise choice. I was really focused, got mostly straight A's, but had little time for anything else.

Choice 1 : I made the Honour Roll this semester after successfully completing my exams and getting the highest R score in my program.

Choice 2 : I was starting to get bored. Not socializing with friends and not partying was starting to get to me. All I was doing was studying psychology, anthropology, and very little about the art of partying at college.

Registered for 14 classes.

Having registered for 14 classes couldn't have been a worse idea. By midterms I was so exhausted I weakened my immune system, and got really sick. It took me the rest of the semester to recover. I even missed the deadline to drop classes and failed all 14 classes. What an idiot!

Choice 1 : The First Semester.

The Art of Partying at College.

Woohoo! A girl in my study group invited me to a party at her sorority. Was I going to make the decision to go?

Choice 1 : YES

Choice 2 : Hell No, No partying.

Party Time!

it was the best party ever! I do not regret my mistake, even though I drank way too much and went to class the next day with a terrible hangover and could not pay attention to the teacher's lecture on the origins of Humanistic Psychology. I even failed the pop quiz he gave. But I didn't care!

Hell No, No Partying.

I decided to say no to the invitation. Everyone in the study group went without me and called me a nerd. The next day, many people were either missing from the study group or looked terribly hungover. There was a pop quiz in psychology which I passed. Good thing I didn't go out and drink the night before!
