My Long Journey in Tremplin DEC

My pre-admission.

I stood in front of the big school entrance, feeling nervous. Inside my backpack, I carried my dreams and hopes. Before I could apply to college, I had to go through some steps. I studied hard, read lots of books, and did my homework. I also joined clubs and took part in activities to make my application better. It was tough, but I didn't give up. Finally, I finished applying and now waited for the result. I hoped all my efforts would pay off.

It wasn't the outcome I wanted, but it gave me a chance to become better and more prepared. With a determined spirit, I embraced the opportunity to grow and prove myself.

I'm not very good at school so when I learn that I have to give 100% in my studies to get better grades I hesitate a bit. I really want to get into my program because it's been my dream for years, so I had the choice between working hard on my organization and being more disciplined or not taking my studies seriously.

Being well organized.

I decided to use my agenda to write all my weekly assignments and evaluations. I hoped that my agenda will help me be more organized and complete thoughtful work to get eventually straight A’s. It was very maddening when I forgot to submit an assignment like it happened lately. I can affirm that my agenda helped me spend less time searching for my tasks. Since the day I started using my agenda, I managed my time better, felt less stressed and anxious, and never put aside my assignments.

Like I said, I'm not very good at school. Studying takes a lot of effort and doing the work I need to do even more. Eventually I started to procrastinate a lot on my work and I often sent my work at the last minute which created a lot of stress in me.

As I was walking down the halls, I saw a table with a jersey on it. I thought at first it was the varsity hockey team, but ended up being the varsity improvisation league. Out of curiosity I registered, but I have a lot of work, and I don't know if it's a good idea to register.

Finally, I went to the selection camp, I was really embarrassed because it was the first time I did this kind of activity. I was accepted into one of the first division teams. It was the weakest division, but it didn't bother me because I was already very happy to be accepted in a team.

When I was younger, I was diagnosed with an attention disorder, so I had the opportunity to have an intervention plan made that gave me the right to use a computer and programs help during my exams. To be able to use it, I had to go to SAIDE and have my plan renewed.

Not doing my intervention plan.

I have been using my intervention plan for years, I use them for most of my schooling. Unfortunately, due to the use of a computer and a correction program, there are some basic writing and correction skills that I never learned. So, I decided to challenge myself not to use my intervention plan and learn the basics that I had never learned.

My attitude toward improvisation.

After the selection camps, I was named to be my team's captain. I went to play my first game at College Lionel-Groulx. I was terrified because it's my first game, but I'm not one to let myself down easily. We didn't win, but I put in a really good performance, and they told me I had talent. So, I had the choice to take improvisation seriously or just have fun.

Choice 1 : Take the improvisation league seriously.

Choice 2 : Just having fun.

I decided to take the Improvisation league seriously, and I made the right choice. Offered me a lot of opportunities to play and shine, I met a lot of good people, and at the end of the year I was named as one of the most likeable players of the league.

My bad grade.

I received an email message informing me that I had been accepted into the Pre-hospital Emergency care program. The only problem is that I fail my session for lack of motivation. I have the choice between putting all my efforts to pass my classes or totally losing my motivation because I no longer have the strength to continue.

I'm not the kind of person to give up. I then put all of my efforts into my studies. I only have one month left of school and the session will be over, I must continue and not stop.

I don't have any motivation anymore, it's hard for me to go to school and do my job. I don't know if I'm going to pass my session I only have one month left, and I don't know what to do.

My final decision.

I still have one last straight line to cross, the exams are coming, and I think I can get there and pass all of my classes. If I pass all of my courses, I will be able to start my courses in Pre-hospital Emergency Care and pursue my dreams, but if I fail, I will leave CEGEP and work full time at my job.

Choice 1 : Abandon school.

Choice 2 : Pursue my dream.

I dropped out of CEGEP, despite my efforts to succeed it was too difficult for me. I started working full time at my job, it's a restaurant where I like to work and the pay is good, but I can't help regretting not following my dream.
