The Story Of A Student.

Choose the best decision!

It was the end of high school. I was very excited about the new adventures that would soon be offered to me. Two choices were available to me.

Choice 1 : Apply to Ahuntsic College in Paralegal Technology

Choice 2 : Take a break from school and work full time.

2 choices

Apply to Ahuntsic College in Paralegal Technology.

I have been dreaming of entering this program since I was very young. Shortly after starting my first semester, school began to make me increasingly anxious. I couldn't get straight A's, and it was so maddening. I was studying all the time, but I still ended up failing. So, I started neglecting my studies and putting aside all my homework. This program no longer interested me, and I didn't know what to do...

Choice 1 : Stay in the same field.

Choice 2 : Study in Psychology.

I am lost...

Stay in the same field.

I decided to stay in Paralegal Technology because I didn't want to waste time transitioning into another field. More often than not, my colleagues laughed when I failed. I decided to tell my teacher about the teasing I was receiving. He advised me to ignore my classmates. He also offered to help me so that I could improve my grades. He promised me that he could come in handy.

Choice 1 : Accept the help of my teacher.

Choice 2 : Do not accept the help of my teacher.

People laughing

Accept the help of my teacher.

My teacher started tutoring me. He first taught me time management, and it helped me a lot in my success process. Over time, I improved a lot, and despite the fact that it was thoroughly challenging, I didn't give up, and I ended up having straight A's. I pulled off, and I was so proud of myself!

I can do it

Do not accept the help of my teacher.

I decided not to accept his help because I wanted to learn on my own. I tried to pull off straight A's, but unfortunately, I couldn't. I realized that Paralegal Technology wasn't for me. I didn't make it. It's a life lesson. I can be proud that I didn't give up; I tried and did my best. I decided to take a year off and focus on myself.

Study in Psychology.

I decided to open a new chapter in my life and learn more about the human brain. Two months later, I had to do an internship for my Psychology class. Two choices were offered to me.

Choice 1 : Do my internship in an office with a psychologist and his clients.

Choice 2 : Do my internship in a school with a Psychology professor.

Psychology

Do my internship in an office with a psychologist and his clients.

I took this option because I was interested in learning how working as a psychologist works. I met a trainee who was there for the same reason as me, except that she had her diploma and was starting her OJT. I was learning the ropes. At the end of the day, the psychologist asked me if I would like to become his secretary for an indefinite period, as his secretary was really sick.

Choice 1 : Accept his offer.

Choice 2 : Decline his offer.

internship in a psychologist office

Accept his offer.

I decided to accept the vacant position because I could receive a wage that I could set aside for my parent's mortgage. I had been a secretary before, so I was familiar with the ins-and-outs. This job was very drudgery, as there were a lot of tasks to complete, but with my time management skills, I was able to work until his secretary returned from her sick leave, and I was able to continue my in-depth internship.

Secretary

Decline his offer.

I decided not to accept his offer because I preferred to concentrate on my studies. Shortly after, despite the drudgery studies, I finished all of my internships and I ended up passing my Psychology course.

Pass my course

Do my internship in a school with a Psychology professor.

On my first day in the psychology professor's class, I didn't feel comfortable when he was speaking to me. I tried not to dwell on it too much, as I had a purpose, and I didn't want it to have a drawback on my learning. As my internships progressed, I increasingly felt that the professor was flirting with me... I wasn't feeling safe anymore.

Choice 1 : Talk to the principal.

Choice 2 : Ignore.

Class

Talk to the principal.

I decided to tell the school principal about his misconduct towards me. I didn't want to get sucked up into anything dangerous. She opened up to me and let me know that the psychology professor had already been in jail for sexual harassment. I was extremely shocked! Which school can let a perpetrator be a teacher? I grabbed all of my things right away and let my teacher know that this would be the last time I would set foot in this school.

Ignore.

I ignored it because I didn't want to make a big deal until the day he locked me in his classroom and made me steal some important documents from the principal's office. I had no choice but to agree to his demands, as I didn't want to get in trouble, but I wasn't a thief... As soon as I walked out of the classroom, I started running towards the school exit. The teacher started chasing me, so I ran to my car and locked myself in before he had the chance to catch me. I drove to the police station and explained what had just happened. It was the most traumatic moment of my life.

Take a break from school and work full time.

I decided to take a break from school and find myself a full-time job so that I could set aside money for my future. Two jobs called me for an interview.

Choice 1 : Work in cosmetics.

Choice 2 : Work at a restaurant.

work full time

Work in cosmetics.

During the interview, she told me about the compensation package the company was offering. Unfortunately, they didn't offer what I was searching for in a job.

Choice 1 : Accept the job offer.

Choice 2 : Decline the job offer.

Accept the job offer.

I had been working in cosmetics for a few months and had become Third Key. I loved the job until Lisa, a lady from HR, got hired in the store. I don't even know why she was hired, because all she did was talk with her friends on her phone. Because of her, I always ended up doing overtime without receiving any premium wage. A year later, Lisa was fired, and I was able to focus on my job without the stress of doing overtime.

Decline the job offer.

I decided not to accept the offer because there were too many aspects with which I did not agree. I preferred to look for a job that suited me entirely, as I was going to work for a good period.

Work at a restaurant.

I have been working at the restaurant for five months. My colleagues were very unkind, as they were always withholding information that could have helped me in my job. It was very disheartening to see that it was every man for himself. Every time I went to work, I had the drive of work. It was a dead-end job, as I knew I wouldn't last long there. Two days later, I ended up quitting that job, as I realized that this environment was too toxic for me.
