My Business Management's Hypertext Narrative.

It starts here.

There is a few weeks left before my last semester of college in my Business Management course at Ahuntsic College. I live with my parents, and I am 18 years old. I also speak on a daily basis with them. They always speak about what I will become in the future. I know that I arrived at a crucial moment for my career depending on my actions.I absolutely need to choose now what to do when I'm done. My parents put a lot of pressure on my back because they think it's a very important moment. They think I should act in the way that is the best for me and what I would want. I am currently heisting between three options: taking one year on vacation, going to UQAM to pursue my studies or going directly to the work field.

Choice 1 : I decide to take a 6-month holiday.

Choice 2 : I go to UQAM to pursue my studies.

Choice 3 : I directly go to the work field.

Ahuntsic College

Taking a 6-month holiday.

I have been enjoying a lot during these past months. My friends ask me how did I keep living like this for months? Did I win the lottery to keep living this lifestyle? Eventually, I have to come back to reality but an extra few weeks wouldn't hurt anyone right?

Choice 1 : I decide to keep enjoying the amazing lifestyle.

Choice 2 : I choose to come back home to see my family.

Vacation

Keep enjoying the lifestyle.

I have decided to stay a few extra days. I am happy, but it costs me more money then originally planned. I am still not sure if it's a great idea.

Choice 1 : I leave Montreal to go to Miami.

Choice 2 : I come back home to see my family.

Vacation is not over

Go to Miami.

Unfortunately after a few days, in my extra holiday I am realizing that I am spending a lot of money and my financial situation is pretty hard because I have no source of income. I have surpassed my budget limit. In addition, the bank calls me and tell me that if I continued spending like this, I would end up having numerous debts. If I wanted to continue this lifestyle I would have to take a loan, and that's not possible that means I have to put a stop to my vacation and come back home even though it's Miami.

Choice 1 : restart

Miami

Come back home to see my family.

I finally came back home. My parents missed me, and they made me my favourite dish, Lasagna. We talked a lot, we talked about how my trip wasn't very worthwhile finally, how could I use a better time management and what is the purpose that I look forward to. We also talked about some other points in-depth like my personal fulfillment and the lack of effort that I made.

Choice 1 : restart try again

family

Going to UQAM to pursue my studies.

Today is my first day of school, and I am a little bit stressed out. It's my first time meeting new teachers and new students, I'm not sure how things will go on. I hate the first day of school. After one week of school, I realized that school is not like it used to be before. Most of my teachers seem to be boring and a bit rude. They don't make me feel wanting to learn anymore. Even the fact that UQAM is really far from my house and things started to go wrong because I was missing the bus more often than not, so I was always late for my morning classes. I have to find a solution.

Choice 1 : I decide to quit UQAM.

Choice 2 : I start going to UQAM morning classes.

UQAM

Quit UQAM.

After reflexion, I think that it's better to do something that I like and enjoy. The teachers didn't give me the feeling and for that reason I decide to quit.

Choice 1 : Restart

Quit UQAM

Start going to UQAM morning classes.

I decided to change my routine and wake up much earlier. I also bought an agenda, so I can be more organized and have better time management. In addition to that I may start an internship to get some experience and learn more.

Choice 1 : I decide to start an internship

UQAM

Start an internship.

It's sad to say but my internship was very boring, so I got bored a few days after I was an Intern. I don't regret my choice but if, I had to do it again I wouldn't do it.

Choice 1 : Restart

Internship

Going directly to the work field.

I want to work, and I want to get some experience. I like talking to people and also help them. I hesitate between two jobs after reflexion and asking my friends. It's either a salesperson or a store manager. Where do I go?

Choice 1 : I choose to be a salesperson.

Choice 2 : I choose to be a store manager.

Workfield

I choose to be a salesperson.

Being a good salesperson is hard. I could have bonuses due to my sales. What I need to do to stand out from the others is I need to work overtime, put aside any distractions and only focus on the job. I could potentially work 50-60 hours per week to earn a high hourly wage with bonuses included, but I have to do sacrifices.

Choice 1 : I accept the risk.

Choice 2 : I decline the risk.

Salesperson

I accept the risk.

Even though I accepted the challenge, I did a burnout few weeks after starting for my new job. It wasn't for me. I regret my choice of career. I want to switch my job to work on something less repetitive and more fun where you don’t have in your head the pressure to sell and the fear to fail.

Choice 1 : restart

Risk accepted

I decline the risk.

On the job, I feel bored, and I don't feel real excitement in what I do. I don't feel that flame/passion inside of me. I want to quit.

Choice 1 : Restart

Decline

I choose to be a store manager.

I want to work as a store manager, so I look for job offers on Indeed and I find one near where I live. In the description of the offer, it is mentioned that they are looking for someone to fulfill a vacant position for the role of store manager. Should I apply?

Choice 1 : I apply to a job

Yes, I get accepted.

One week later I receive a call that says that I was selected between 20 other candidates. I sign the following day a contract to work 40 hours per week with a wage of $23/hour. I work for a big company named Maxi. I work at the Maxi near De Castelnau metro. At first, I did an on-the-job training for a few days.At my job what I do is help customers if they have any problem. I also work on some file documents for the company.Should I invest my money, my friend is a specialist in that domain.
