Becoming a Radiology Technologist

What Is Next?

After four years of studying at Ahuntsic College, I am finally done with college. Even though I am relieved about that, I need to make bigger life choices.

Choice 1 : Go into the radiology work field.

Choice 2 : Apply to university.

The Radiology Work Field.

I decided to go into the radiology work field. I can start my dream job as a radiology technologist. By being an intern, I will get a foot in the door, and understand how things work in the medical field. On-the-job-training will be given by experienced technologists, and I am sure that I will learn a lot from the radiologists that I will be working with.

Choice 1 : Work at a hospital

Choice 2 : Work at a private clinic

Working At The Hospital.

It has always been my dream to work at a hospital. I am now an intern at the CHUM, I started on Monday. I met all my co-workers, and I got along with most of them. But I think Laura does not like me. Laura has been working for more than thirty years in the field, she has seniority. More often than not, she will withhold information because she wants to hinder me. I think she feels threatened by our new knowledge. I don't like the work environment caused by office politics. I feel anxious coming to work, and I am unhappy. Should I stay or Should I quit? Which should I choose?

Choice 1 : Find a new internship

CHUM

Working At The Clinic.

I decided that I wanted to work at a private clinic because it is smaller and seemed less stressful to me. Let me tell you I was wrong, when I first started everything was fine, but when the main radiologist found out I was one of the best interns he became flirtatious with me. It made me uncomfortable. He promised me a promotion once I graduated. He was very unprofessional. I found out I was not the only one suffering from his misconduct. He would have unacceptable behaviour with his patients. The worst part is everyone knew, but no one wanted to confront him. I dreaded going to work, after the moment he touched me because he sexually assaulted me.

Choice 1 : Go back to the start and make better choices.

Private clinic

Learning A New Profession.

I decided to apply to the Montreal University. I want to try to become a teacher in college, so I can teach students to become radiology technologists like I did.

Choice 1 : Be a teacher

Choice 2 : Fail my classes

Being A Teacher.

Being a teacher makes me the happiest. I am stress free, I do what I love which is helping others, while still staying in the subject of the medical field something that I always loved.

Choice 1 : Go back to the start and make other choices.

Teacher

Failing My Classes.

Going back to school, made me realize, that I prefer being in the work field rather than be at school. I don't like what I am currently learning, and I heard that my teacher has a really bad reputation of failing students when they don't want to give him what he wants. He has sexually assaulted a lot of women and made them fail classes. I fear that I might fail my classes because of him.

Choice 1 : Go back to the start and make better choices.

Failing

Finding a new internship.

I started a new internship, and I love it. It is the safest work environment that I have been in. I love all the doctors and the other's radiology technologists. They teach me and want to see me succeed. I love examining my patients and bettering myself. I know that once I graduation and become a certified radiology technologist, I will apply to work here. I am excited for my future.
