I just finished my first year studying in Natural Sciences at Cégep André Laurendeau, and also finished my first hockey season for the Boomerang d'André Laurendeau. It was a really fun hockey season, but my grades were not straight A's. So, I knew that I had to make a choice between pursuing my hockey dream and focusing on school to help me to have better chances at studying in the field of Physical Therapy.

Choice 1 : Pursue my hockey dream.

Choice 2 : Focus on school.

In my second year at cégep André-Laurendeau, I had a really great start in my hockey season. Everything was going well, but I could not gain the trust of my coach. He had a bias for physical players (players who give a lot of checks), but that was not really my style of play. I was more a player that liked to use speed, and even if I was better than some of my teammates, they would have more time on the ice because they were physical players.

Choice 1 : Change my style of play, and become a physical player.

Choice 2 : Stick to my style of play, and hope that my coach finally trust me.

Focus on school.

I decided to put my focus on my studies to have better grades, but I was again left with a choice to make. I did not know if I wanted to stay at the Cégep André-Laurendeau because I already accustomed to the program over there or, if I wanted to go to the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe to be closer to my house.

Choice 1 : Stay at the cégep André-Laurendeau.

Choice 2 : Go to the cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe.

Change my style of play, and become a physical player.

After I changed my style of play, everything was going great! I had a really good chance at becoming a pro hockey player. During a game in the middle of the season, I had pretty bad shoulder injury. At the time, I did not know if I should tell my team's Physiotherapist about my injury, because if I did, it would mean that I would miss the rest of the season, and my chances to become a pro player would disappear.

Choice 1 : Tell my team's Physiotherapist about my injury.

Choice 2 : Continue and hope to become a pro hockey player.

Stick to my style of play, and hope that my coach finally trust me.

I decided to stick to my style of play and prove to my coach that I was a good player even if I did not want to be a physical player. Unfortunately, my coach did not give me a chance to prove myself, and I was very frustrated. I was so frustrated that it affected my grades so, I decided to drop out of school. Stay at the cégep André-Laurendeau.

Since I was already used to the program at this Cégep, my grades were looking good, and I was waiting for the University admission responses. In the end, I was put on the waiting list for the program of Physiotherapy at the Université Laval at Québec, and I was accepted to become an osteopath at the École Professionnelle des Ostéopathes du Québec. To be honest, becoming a Physiotherapist was something that I was more interested in than becoming an osteopath. So, I had a choice to make.

Choice 1 : Wait, and see if I am accepted in Physiotherapy at the Université Laval.

Choice 2 : Go to the École Professionnelle des Ostéopathes du Québec.

Go to the cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe.

During my time at the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe I was focused on my studies, and I managed to get really good grades. I even got accepted in Chiropractic and in Occupational Therapies at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.

Choice 1 : Become a chiropractor.

Choice 2 : Become an occupational therapist.

Wait, and see if I am accepted in Physiotherapy at the Université Laval.

Unfortunately, I was not accepted in Physiotherapy, and I missed the deadline to confirm my answer to become an osteopath. At this point, I did not have any motivation left, and I ended up working a dead-end job with a lot of overtime in order to be able to pay for my mortgage. Start again!

Go to the École Professionnelle des Ostéopathes du Québec.

I became an Osteopath, a physician who learned how to do conventional treatment and osteopathic manipulative medicine that focuses on relieving pain in the musculoskeletal system, after five years of studying, and I finally got my first job. The HR of the company told me that there was a vacant position and that they were looking for someone like me to take the position. So, I did! During my first day, I was doing a treatment on a patient, and everything was going well until he told me that his son will soon become an osteopath just like me. The problem with that was that his son did not do the studies to become an Osteopath. So, I started do to some research to see if there was some kind of corruption going on, and I found out that the patient was bribing the company so that his son could become an Osteopath. He even told me that he would give me a lot of money if I said nothing.

Choice 1 : Say nothing and receive a lot of money.

Choice 2 : Tell everything to my boss.

I decided to keep this information myself, and the patient gave me $1 000 000. At first, I was really happy, but another employee found out about everything and since I was involved in the fraud, I lost my job, I lost my right to practice osteopathic treatments and went to jail. Try again!

Tell everything to my boss.

I decided to tell everything to my boss because I was really uncomfortable knowing something like that, and do nothing about it. The only thing that I did not know, was that my boss was involved in the bribery, so he denied everything I told him, and after that, he fired me. Try again to see a different path!

Tell my team's Physiotherapist about my injury.

After I told my team's Physiotherapist (Sandrine) about my injury, she told me that I had a rotator cuff injury. It is a severe injury because the rotator cuff muscles hold the bones of the shoulder joint together, and it is also the group of muscles that gives you the ability to lift your arm and reach overhead. While she was doing treatments on my shoulder and giving me exercises to heal my shoulder, I asked her a lot of questions about her job because I was accepted at the Université de Sherbrooke in Physiotherapy, and I did not know if I should continue to play hockey or quit hockey and become a Physiotherapist. She told me that she really loved her job and that she saw how I was interested in becoming a Physiotherapist and she would be ready to make me her employee after I graduate.

Choice 2 : Go to the Université de Sherbrooke.

I really appreciated the faith and trust that people around me have for me to become a pro hockey player, but unfortunately, my shoulder injury was really bad, and I realized that I was not good enough to become a pro hockey player. At least, I tried! Try again to see a different path!

Go to the Université de Sherbrooke.

I went to the Université de Sherbrooke in Physiotherapy, and I loved it! I learned about all the different types of Physiotherapists like, Sports, Geriatric, Orthopedic, Pediatric, Neurological and Cardiovascular. I was very interested in the Sports Physiotherapy and the Orthopedic Physiotherapy. I knew that I could go with Sandrine and become a Sports Physiotherapist, but I also received an offer to do an on-the-job-training for an Orthopedic Physiotherapy clinic.

Choice 1 : Work for Sandrine and become a sport physiotherapist.

Choice 2 : Go to the on-the-job-training at the Orthopedic clinic.

I started working with Sandrine for the hockey team of the Cégep André-Laurendeau, and It felt like I already had a foot in the door because that I once played for this hockey team. I gained a lot of experience working with her, it was instructive, very rewarding, and I also had a premium wage. Everything was great about this job because it was a perfect balance between hockey, my favorite sport, and the type of job that I wanted to do, Physiotherapyt. Also, Sandrine asked me to take her place as the principal Physiotherapist for the hockey team when it was the time of her retirement. So, it was a dream come true! Go to the on-the-job-training at the Orthopedic clinic.

During the OJT, I learned the ropes of becoming an Orthopedic Physiotherapist, I learned to treat injuries that involve muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. This OJT was really fulfilling because I gained experience at the same time as working in the clinic that I worked for until my retirement. I will never regret this choice of becoming an Orthopedic Physiotherapist! Try again to see a different path!

Become a Chiropractor.

During my studies to become a Chiropractor, I found out that they were two types of Chiropractors. The musculoskeletal Chiropractors and the traditional wellness Chiropractors. The first one focuses on symptom relief while the second one focuses on subluxations and structural correction. The more I was thinking about which one I wanted to become, the more I was hesitating.

Choice 1 : Become a musculoskeletal Chiropractor.

Choice 2 : Become a traditional wellness Chiropractor.

Become an Occupational Therapist.

While I was in my studies to become an Occupational Therapist, I had a moment of hesitation where I was not sure if I would have preferred to become a Chiropractor. It is not because I did not like the Occupational Therapies, it was very interesting, but I had a feeling that I was more interested in doing studies to become a Chiropractor.

Choice 1 : Become a chiropractor.

Choice 2 : Stay in occupational therapies since you have already started the process of becoming an occupational therapist.

In the end, I did a really good choice by deciding to become an Occupational Therapist, because during my career, I really liked to help people to find solutions so that they could keep the ability to do the things that are important to them in function of their limited capacities or injuries. Become a musculoskeletal Chiropractor.

I finally decided to become a musculoskeletal Chiropractor, and I learned how to do electrotherapies such as ultrasound, diathermy and laser acupuncture. In the end, I was very happy with the career that I had! Try again to see a different path!

Become a traditional wellness Chiropractor.

I finally decided to become a traditional wellness Chiropractor, and I learned how to remove the nerve interference and restructuring the spine and posture of my different patients. In the end, I was very happy with the career that I had! Try again to see a different path!
