One day, while I was in English class, I had a moment when my mind was elsewhere. It was not new to me but my body was in a chair but my mind was in the clouds. While my mind was wandering around the airplanes, it stopped for a moment and started to think. What could I become in the future? I was at the beginning of my last semester in college and university applications were coming in, so I had to make a choice. I wanted a field that was related to sports. And poof! An idea came to my head! My mind went back to my body and in the next few days I decided that I was going to work towards becoming a kinesiologist or a physical therapist.

Choice 1 : Kinesiology.

A kinesiologist use evidence-based research to treat and prevent injury and disease, and to improve movement and performance.

A physical therapist help injured or ill people improve movement and manage pain. They are often an important part of preventive care, rehabilitation, and treatment for patients with chronic conditions, illnesses, or injuries.

The fact that I turned to a sporting field is mostly due to my passion for one sport in particular, soccer. I have been playing soccer since I was a kid. I grew up playing soccer, and I still play soccer. It's a real passion for me because when I'm in the field playing, it's one of the few places where no matter what happens, I'm happy, even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes when I lose games. It is my passion for the beautiful sport that led me to a career choice based on sport.

I had a dream. A big dream! It was to become a professional soccer player. To be able to play with the greatest players in the world, Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Jordi Alba and more. I wanted to play in my favorite team, FC Barcelona. I wanted to play in the biggest competitions of the beautiful game such as the World Cup, the Champions League, the Euro and even more! Besides I always asked myself the same question, what is the most satisfying to win? The world cup or the champions league?

These are the two biggest competitions in soccer and also the most watched. Millions, if not billions, watch these competitions around the world but for me, I would rather win the World Cup for my country! Unfortunately, even though I was really ambitious I knew that my dream was practically unattainable.

Choice 1 : Broken dream.

According to statistics, the chances of becoming a professional player are less than 1%, yes, that's right less than 1%. More precisely 0.8%, so I couldn't base my future on this very small number. So, I had to come to the fact that I had to give up my dream. For my future well-being... And that of my parents too.

Even though I couldn't win the World Cup for my country. I wasn't going to stop playing soccer. So, I thought about a field that would allow me to stay close to my passion. And that's how the idea of working in the field of sports came to my mind. I thought that even though I wouldn't be playing with the greatest players, maybe I could treat them and help them. So, in the end, it's like being with them!

Soccer coach.

I could have chosen to become a soccer coach, to transmit my passion to young people, that was very important to me. Moreover, I was directly involved in soccer, so it would been perfect. I was fortunate to have the experience of coaching with my civilian club. It's not professional, but it's a taste of what a life as a professional coach could been like. It's not unpleasant! Obviously it's not as great as coaching a big team with a packed stadium and reporters analyzing your every move, but it's still a pretty good feeling. Especially when you coach a winning team!

I could choose to be part of the technical team of a soccer team as a kinesiologist. I would take care of the training of the players and their injuries. Finally, my dream was not totally destroyed! I wouldn't be in the field playing, but I would be helping the people in the field, so I would be involved! Their success would depend on me. It can create pressure, but for me it's a real motivation.

Now I am continuing my studies to become a kinesiologist. I still play soccer, and it is still a passion. Even if I can't realize my dream, I create others and this, like a child, is the best way to be happy.

During my college career, I had a lot of fun. It wasn't always easy, but I did it. Next semester I will be starting a new phase in my life, university. I will be part-time, and I will be taking a Physics course as a prerequisite to enter the program of kinesiologist next fall. I've just finished one important stage of my life and I can't wait to dive into the next one. And that's how it ends. During my journey, I have had and will have disappointments but as a smart man told me, "you must never give up".
