Australia is definitely my favorite country. Actually, I don't know if it's the country or my new friend that I find so awesome. We've been in Australia together for almost eight months, but we started to date five months ago. I don't want to leave him anymore. I have just been recalled by the Police School, but I really want to continue living with him and traveling.

Happy life.

I have been traveling with my boyfriend for two years now, whom I met in Cambodia. We visited almost every country in Asia. Soon we will visit South America. We managed to make a little money doing odd jobs everywhere. We also volunteered in exchange for accommodation and food. There are days when it's more difficult than others, but I don't regret my choice. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning.

SPVM.

Since I started in the police, there has been a lot of action. We had several shoplifting cases, domestic violence cases, mental health cases, attempted murders and a suicide attempt. Only today we had to arrest two people and questioned three suspects. We also gave several tickets and wrote our reports as usual. Tomorrow I will meet my lieutenant to tell him what career position I would like to be assigned to for the rest of my training.

Gaspesie.

Today I end my 25-year career in the police. For 15 years, I have worked in the Gaspesie sector. I came here in order to be able to enjoy the landscapes and the calm of the place. I remained a patrol agent throughout my career because I didn't want to be locked in an office. As Gaspesie is not too dangerous a region, I never got tired of it. Soon, I will enjoy my retirement accompanied by my policeman husband, my two children, and my dog. We have built our life here, and I am very happy. I was able to put aside money for my pension. So, I intend to take advantage of it.

Valleyfield.

I have been with the Valleyfield police for eight years now. I was happy to be transferred here because I was closer to my parents. However, after eight years, I would like to change and apply for a management position. As a vacant position of lieutenant has just been opened, it would be my chance. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that I know that there is a lot of competition between the candidates who apply and that stresses me out.

Cadet.

I decided to do cadets during my years of waiting. It allowed me to have a foot in the door if I want to work for Montreal later. It's been two months since I started working. The only thing I don't appreciate much is the attitude of the police officer with whom I am sometimes paired up with. He is very inappropriate and disrespectful with citizens, and I don't think that's normal. I'm hesitant to talk about it because I wouldn't want to get fired.

Choice 1 : Discuss the situation with my superior.

Choice 2 : Avoid the problem and continue to do my work.

Discuss the situation with my superior.

I just discussed the situation with my boss, he told me that he took the situation very seriously and that he was to report it to human resources. It is important to him that all of his employees feel good. So, he's going to pair me with another policeman and make sure the situation is corrected. In the next months, I will continue to work and learn until I enter the National Police School of Quebec.

I've been working at H&M for almost ten months and my boss is very satisfied. She therefore offered me the position of assistant manager in exchange for my committing to stay for the long term. The problem is that I start my training at the Police School in six months, and I don't want to stay long term. But, the position pays a lot more, so I could take advantage of it for a few weeks.

I've been an assistant manager for almost six months now. I liked the job, and I made a lot of money. However, I just handed in my resignation, and my boss was quite upset. I regret not having been honest, and I hope that it will not harm me during the investigations to join the police. I apologized to my boss. I regret not telling her that I wasn't looking for a long-term job because it's dishonest. At least, in a few days, I will be entering the National Police School.

I managed to pass the exams, and I am now a homicide investigator. I love the action because I am constantly in demand, and I am never bored. However, my family finds it difficult because I am often at work and do a lot of overtime. I hesitate to change department.

Become a lieutenant.

I applied to be a lieutenant and passed the exams. I succeeded and I was proud of myself. However, only two of us made it through. So, the decision of who got the job was up to our sergeant. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job. Initially, I was mostly disappointed, but I learned from a colleague that the other person had paid our sergeant to have the job and that he would have accepted the money. I may intend to denounce this situation, but I have little evidence so, it would be difficult to prove, and I would not want to create friction with my colleagues.

Choice 1 : Denounce corruption.

Choice 2 : Move on.

Continue as a patrol agent.

My family preferred that I keep a patrol position in order to be more available at home. So, I intend to finish my career as a patrol agent.

Denounce corruption.

Being a person of great integrity, I reported the situation to the director of the station. He investigated and sent our sergeant and our new lieutenant into ethics' proceedings. I got the job of lieutenant and our sergeant was replaced. The work climate is much better, and I am proud to have denounced this. I intend to end my career as a lieutenant.

Choice 1 : Start at the beginning.

Move on.

The story of corruption is now ancient history. I ended my career at the Sept-Iles police station because I did not want to witness other injustices. I rebuilt my life there. For five years, I have been enjoying my retirement in my cottage.
