My life.

My beginnings in Canada.

I arrived for the first time in Canada in August 2015. It was the first time that I had traveled so far from my country of origin. My family had sacrificed a lot for me. I had to fight in this country not to disappoint them. My integration was difficult at first. I didn't understand the Quebec French language, and I had to fight on my own to find an apartment. I met many people who helped me in my integration. Canada has made me mature, and I find that despite the difficulties I have encountered so far I have also had many opportunities.

Welcome to Canada

School.

It was difficult at first to find a school. As a foreign student, the tuition fees were very expensive. Finally, I registered at Montmorency College in Laval. I didn't know which program to choose, and I have a friend who told me this: If I were you, I would go to Special Care Counselling. This is how I found myself in this field of study. I worked very hard to pass all of my classes each semester. In my case, I had a job in Burger King at the same time as I went to school. First, I had to use time management. Then, I had to think about how to free up time from my job to be able to continue my studies full time. In my field of study, we learn to help people who have physical, intellectual and social difficulties. We support these people to highlight their potential despite their disability. I really like my field of study.

Work in my field of study.

I did an internship, during my studies, in a school. It was about training children on the job. I learned the tricks of the trade as an educator. I really enjoyed working with handicapped children. My internship trainer was Valentine. She was nice, but she gave the interns a lot of responsibility. At first, it was very difficult for me, especially since I had a dead-end job at Burger King. I had no choice, because the internship was unpaid, and I had to pay my rent. I persevered, and worked hard to be able to pass this internship. In the end, I succeeded, and I had a job interview in the same place. This is how I started on-the-job training, and now I work part-time in my field of study while pursuing my studies.
