The Ultimate Beginning.

It is February 2021, I am in grade eleven at Laval College and with my really good time management, I was able to get high enough grades to choose any CEGEP program that I would want without any problem. I am sure that later I will want to work on the Computer Science field, but I have a choice to make for my path to get to university. Either I go to Ahuntsic College to study in Computer Sciences and Mathematics or to Montmorency College to study in Science. Where should I go? Montmorency College is much closer to my house than Ahuntsic College but the Computer Sciences and Mathematics program will be way more advantageous for someone who wants to work on the Computer Sciences field like me.

I decided to go study at Montmorency College, the only CEGEP in Laval, mainly because it is the closest CEGEP to my house. While studying at Montmorency College, I lose my motivation sometimes because of courses like Chemistry that I hate. However, the fact that I decided to go to a closer school gives me the option to use the driver's license that I recently got and, because I can drive to school, I have the option to work in between or directly after my classes, but I will use my first two semesters at CEGEP to focus on study. This summer, I am starting to work at Staples store from Rosemary. I want to work in the copy center where our work consists of printing our client’s orders, making labels, laminating documents, binding sheets of paper together to make books and doing many things related to the printing domain. I do no know anything about the copy center for now and my manager knows that remembering every ins-and-outs that come by when working there is difficult, so I am starting my OJT as a cashier, and I have a minimum wage. I am the only trainee at Staples and my lack of experience can sometimes be a drawback for customers that I am serving but the experienced employees do not have a bad bias towards me. The other employees have wages that are probably higher than mine, but I am happy with my work, so it is not a problem for me. It is now August 2022 and school is about to restart. Should I keep working with a low number of hours during school or stop working to focus on study? My father told me : "If I were you, I would keep the work", but I am still not sure.

I decided to go to Ahuntsic College. At first, I thought that going to Ahuntsic College would take much more time than going to Montmorency College but thanks to the metro who really came in handy, it also takes about one hour to go there. I am really happy that I chose to go there mainly because there are Computer Sciences courses instead of courses like Chemistry that I would have had if I had chosen the Science program. The fact that I like my program makes it really easy to stay motivated and because of that, I have a really good R score, so I am sure that I will get accepted in one of the Computer Science programs at Montreal Polytechnic University. At this school, there are the Computer Engineering and the Software Engineering programs on the Computer Science domain. Both of these programs are really similar. In fact, they almost have the same courses. The main difference between them is that the Software Engineering program focuses on making things that affect the user interaction with the software like a browser, a network, an application or a video game display, UI, layout or interface while the Computer Engineering program, on the other hand, focuses more on the device interaction with the software like making a self-driving car or correcting a bug inside a computer's hardware. I have to think about my next program choice.

While continuing to work as a cashier at Staples store, I am discovering the differences between products that are directly linked to Computer Science. For example, for data storage, I now know that there is USB Drive or the SD card and that each of them can have different speeds of data transferring that are only active if the user’s PC has the ability to use it. Among the earphones, headphones or headset jacks, I know that there is the auxiliary cable and the lightning cable for Apple’s devices. For the phones' charger ports, the most used ones are the USB-C Port and again, the lightning cable for Apple’s devices. It is the end of my CEGEP program, I have found that merging the work and the school life is great. It helps me develop my time management and helps me focus on other things. It also helps me keep a balance in my life in general. However, the fact that I sometimes lack motivation is making my grades not as good as I expect them to be, and I am not sure if I am going to get accepted at Montreal Polytechnic University on the Computer Engineering or the Software Engineering program that I always wanted to get in. Fortunately, I found a program just as good as the other ones that do not have a limited enrollment. It is the Software Engineering program at the Superior Technology School. Stop working to focus on study.

It is the second week of the third semester, and I do not participate to major activities besides studying, I do not have any motivation and my teachers are already piling on the homework. After dinner, I look at my first workplace narrative homework with a cursory glance, and I tell myself that I have to wake up. So, I decide to put aside my hobbies until I improve successfully my time management in order to be able to get straight A's. Not doing my hobbies and working instead feels really maddening, but I am able to pull it off with thorough work. Even though I completed a lot of work in a short time, I am very thoughtful about not completing my homework for a long amount of time again. This is the reason why I am now more engaged in my homework. With this boost of motivation, I am able to get really good grades, and I am certain that I am going to be accepted at Montreal Polytechnic University. I am now halfway in the Software Engineering program at the Superior Technology School. Everything has been going well so far. I have been learning the basics about many programming languages like Java, JavaScript, Python, HTML, HTTP, PHP, C, CSS, XML and many other things related to this program. Now it is time to put it to the test, I have to do an internship, and I found an offer at DELL technologies at Ottawa where my main tasks at this job are going to consist of designing and developing key OAM (Online Access Manager) features, algorithms and integrate them with the GNB and EMS systems, holding design and coding reviews as required to ensure complete solutions and obtain agreement from stake holders, designing and implementing simulation and automation tools to enhance development velocity and working closely with the verification group to ensure the completeness, quality, and performance of the implemented OAM functionality through effective unit and component tests. Will I work full-time or part-time during my internship?

As I submit my application for admission at Montreal Polytechnic University, I have the option to apply for up to three programs in order of priority. I know that my last place's program is going to be Electrical Engineering since my father is working in this field. Though, I am not sure what will be my priority between the Computer and Software Engineering programs. I think I will prefer Software Engineering because that will allow me to work on music producing applications such as FL Studio which I am a dedicated user of, but as a computer engineer, I could make devices that can directly work with this software, and the technology required to allow cars to drive by themselves is fascinating too.

This is the first week of February 2025, I am currently working as a full-time intern at DELL technologies. It is a great opportunity to discover how I will use my software engineer skills to help a client and to make a device. Everything has been going well so far, but I have been hearing some strange rumors from the Structured Query Language (SQL) developer talking with the other veteran employees who were saying that the manager was bribing them to hide something. As I am discovering the corruption in this place about something extremely suspicious should I join my friend’s internship in another company or stay here at DELL technologies and continue the internship.

This is the first week of February 2025, I am currently working as a part-time intern at DELL technologies. It is a great opportunity to discover how I will use my software engineer skills to help a client and to make a device. I do not work a lot of time there, but I really like the dynamic of the team, and when I do work, I work my hardest because I know that it will allow me to excel in my future career.

I am still working at DELL technologies even if there is some corruption in the background. I am less dynamic with my co-workers especially the veterans. I now feel like a stranger to the company, I try to observe my co-workers to see if I can find evidence that they are doing things against the company policy. I am searching every little bit of information possible. Sometimes, I even turn on the computer of the main office to scroll down really deep in the history of the most used browser for the team’s navigation. It has been several weeks, and I did not find anything about the hidden thing. Should I leave this internship to finish with another one or persevere until the end of this internship.

I am now halfway on the Computer Engineering program at Montreal Polytechnic University. At this point, everything has been going well. I am currently in an internship at one of the best garages. The one from the company Tesla. There, my work consists of assisting the experienced computer engineers for the production of a computer system that can allow these cars to drive by themselves.

I am now halfway on the Software Engineering program at Montreal Polytechnic University. At this point, everything has been going well. I found an offer for an internship at FL Studio's office in the USA. I also found a more traditional offer at DELL technologies' office in Ottawa where I can choose to work part-time or full-time.

Never mind, it is almost the end of the internship. It means that if I stop now, I will have to restart it and lose months of hard work.

It is my last day as an intern at DELL technologies. My manager has already approved my internship. I am really glad that I can finally leave this corrupted workplace. As I am putting the key of the meeting room back to its place, I hear sounds of a bad interaction coming from the manager's room. The door is slightly open, and as I use the little opening to look inside. I see a man trying to flirt with a woman. I realize that the woman is Sarah, one my co-workers, and that the man is my manager. As my manager tries to wrap his arms around her, Sarah keeps trying to push him back. It was at this moment that I understood the cause of all the corruption in this workplace. It was because my manger was committing sexual harassment towards Sarah and was bribing my veteran co-workers to hide it. Should I denounce it even it means risking my internship approbation or just ignore it, and get out of the workplace since it is my last day.

Three months later, the police officer tells me that the manager had been sexually harassing Sarah many times before, that he was, at the moment, in jail with his allies. He also tells me that Sarah is now feeling much better thanks to my act of denunciation.
