James and his friend are placed in detention together: James, who is writing essays for his former friend, Anthony (who is also in detention), and Liza and Mary have both disrespected their respective teachers during their class. Under orders from Principal Bentley, the four are assigned to clear out the school's basement, the four find something, a five-player action-adventure console game. They think carefully if they enter the game or not.
Choice 1 : Enter the game.
Choice 2 : Don't mind what they have found.

They've ended up in the jungle, each in the shape of their game avatars. He is now Dr. Xander "Smolder", who is a tough, muscular explorer; Anthony is a short zoologist named Franklin "Mouse", whom he chose after misreading the name as "Moose". Liza is an overweight male cartographer named Professor Sheldon "Shelly", who was also misled, and Mary is a stunning commando and martial arts expert named Ruby. Shelly (Liza) is attacked and appears to be killed by a Hippopotamus, but she is quickly regenerated, causing James to realize that they are trapped inside the video game they started playing. Now, they are thinking about what they are going to do.
Choice 1 : Fight to stay alive.
Choice 2 : Let themselves kill by the animals.
Anthony simply returned the console game player to its original location and continued to look around. Liza was sitting pretty while using her cellphone and not minding others. On the other side, James and Mary continued removing staples from the old magazines while James was still sharing what he had witnessed earlier in the gym. And also, he thought that Mary was saying some really smart things about why PE sucks and about other subjects. After they finish cleaning, they go back to their usual daily lives and act as strangers to each other.

To escape from the game, the players must return it to an enormous Jaguar Shrine and call out the name of the game: "JANJI". They discover each of their avatars also comes with special skills and weaknesses, just before they are attacked by armed men on motorcycles. When Ruby (Mary) uncovers a gunshot and evaporates before quickly regenerating back to life, James notices each of them have three tattooed stripes indicating their lives, figuring out that if they lose all three, they will actually die permanently. Shelly (Liza) notices that only his skills can read the map, which points them in the direction of the Bazaar. Along the way, James and Anthony start arguing about their differences back in Brantford, resulting in Mouse (Anthony) shoving Smolder (James) off the edge to his death and subsequent regeneration.
Choice 1 : Go to the Bazaar.
Choice 2 : Continue fighting each other.
They are now regretting why they entered the game. Liza and Mary are crying because they want to go back now to their world. On the other side, James and Anthony look problematic because they also don't know what they are going to do now. Until a swarm of hippopotamus arrived and were ready to attack the four of them. They lose hope of going back to their world, so they didn't fight and let the animals kill them.

The group arrives in the marketplace and begins interacting with a merchant, who tempted them with his bakery, and they automatically responded to regain their health. He ate some of his pounds' cake, which resulted in his death by an explosion. The group then meets a rhyming boy who points them towards their next clue inside a snake basket, where the clue is guarded by a lethal Black Mamba. To avoid anyone of them loses any more lives, they start working together to obtain the clue from the snake by making it harmless, finding an Elephant idol wrapped in a written note concerning climbing when seeing an Elephant. Van Pelt's men then surround them with the intention of capturing or killing them to retrieve the Jaguar's Eye, but the four evades them long enough.
Choice 1 : The final stage.
While they are on the way, James and Anthony are still fighting and still losing their lives. At every stage of the game, they are all blaming each other for not doing their best, not focusing and not having teamwork. That's why they only have small chances of winning the game. Afterwards, all of them left only one life, but unfortunately, they lost at the next stage because they did not plan well how to survive that stage.

Arriving at the statue grounds, they find an elephant statue that looks just like the idol and suspect that means they must climb the trees. Smolder (James) takes that skill in his stride and makes for the trees to cover more ground, but loses his nerve from being startled by a screeching squirrel and falls to the ground, where he is mauled to death by a Jaguar. Using tactics from Anthony's love of football, the players find themselves individually facing and evading Van Pelt's forces and Jaguar guards. The avatars figure out that the living elephant's appearance was the true meaning of their clue, and they use their resources and teamwork to distract Van Pelt. Ruby (Mary) deliberately succumbs to her avatar's weakness (Snake Venom) and re spawns with the Jaguar's Eye from the sky above, while Smolder (James) climbs the shrine just in time to be handed the eye from Ruby (Mary) and return the jewel to the Jaguar statue. After each of the five avatars calls out, "JANJI!" The game is won, disintegrating Van Pelt into many rats and undoing the curse that fell upon the "JANJI" realm.
Choice 1 : James decided to stay.
Choice 2 : Back to the real world.
James enjoys being "Smolder" because of the capacities or the strengths it has. James talked to Anthony, Liza, and Mary that he would just stay in the jungle because of his reason, but the three convinced him to go back to their world. But James final decision was to just stay in the jungle and live his life there.

With the game won, "JANJI" transports the teens back to Brantford High School, reverting the four back to their former selves. The four started to become closer friends that they had ever been thanks to their time in the jungle: James and Anthony reconcile; Liza becomes a more emphatic person and makes plans to go backpacking; Mary starts dating James. The four then hear "JANJI" drumbeats and prevent history from repeating itself by taking the game behind the school, where Anthony destroys it with the "Rhino" bowling ball they found in detention.
