My Fate As A Nurse.

After many thoughts about my future, I had a moment of revelation this morning. Indeed, I decided to become a nurse. Now, should I really specialize in this profession?

Choice 1 : Become a nurse

Choice 2 : Just take the time to think again and go traveling during this time

Scene 1.

Nursing is a good choice. Since my childhood I like to take care of others and make sure they are well. In addition, I was accepted at Cegep of Trois-Rivieres with my friends. It was my number one choice. Which teacher should I take?

Choice 1 : I choose Caroline Cartier as my professor

Choice 2 : I choose Bertrand Greenville as my professor

Scene 2.

After much thought and the opinion of several members of my family and friends, I decided to take a slight break from studies. I want to travel, but I'm afraid I'll regret what I'm doing.

Choice 1 : stick with my first choice and go travel.

Choice 2 : Going back to work at the IGA so that I won't be far from my family and my friends.

Scene 3.

During my first class with Mrs. Cartier, she told us to put aside all the straight A's that we had received before since nursing was not something you could get by without working. It was maddening to be belittled so much on the first day. Should I stay in her course?

Choice 1 : Yes

Choice 2 : No

Scene 4.

But despite the fact that she was really strict during the first class and that many dropped out of the program, I worked hard, I stayed a long time after class to ask for help, I redid exercises several times, and I carved out a place for myself with his favorite students with only straight A's. I was quite a discreet student, but who did her job very well. When I finally finished my technique, Ms. Cartier suggested sending a letter of recommendation to the University of Trois-Rivieres to go and specialize further. She thinks I could accomplish so much more.

Scene 5.

Accepting Ms. Cartier's proposal concerning the letter of recommendation for the University was a mistake. Indeed, working in the hospital at the same time as going to university was too hard, I had no time for myself, my family and my friends. It was overwhelming. I dropped out of University. In addition, I had great difficulty in being accepted at the University since not long after Ms. Cartier sent the letter of recommendation, she was accused of sexual harassment, misconduct and corruption against several male students. I was so disappointed.

Scene 6.

I didn't like the way she treated us, and she seemed stern. Several students left after the first lesson. Maybe it's not the right course for me after all. What should I do now?

Choice 2 : go back to work at the IGA as a cashier because I don't know what else to do.

Scene 7.

I believe this is the best decision to make. I won't have to endure the stress and heaviness of the work that the teacher wants us to do. Moreover, when I return from my travels, I will be full of energy, better oriented and ready to make a new choice of a teacher or a new study program. Who knows?

That's it. I'm going back to work on my first youth job. The place where I had promised myself never to return since in my opinion, this work will lead me nowhere in life. Great!

Applying in a hospital was a success. I work with amazing people, with a great wage even when I was only a trainee, and I work a lot, sure, but I love what I do. Even more, I will have a great pension.

I feel happiness filling my stomach. I'm flying soon for my first direction trip. I will help young children in underdeveloped countries, in schools. I'm doing the right thing for me, right?

Scene 11.

I didn't have the courage to travel alone, so I went back to the IGA. I wonder if I should finally try nursing next year... At least I know I'm not ready to travel alone.

I chose this teacher initially simply because I didn't really have any other choices. I heard several negative comments about this teacher and wondered if it were worth making up my own mind about him.

Choice 2 : Leave because of the negatives' comments about him

Scene 13.

During the first lesson, he explained everything about the basics of nursing. It was a lot of material at the same time and many who take the course, preferred to withdraw and choose a teacher with less loaded courses in material. However, his way of being with his students as well as his way of teaching completely intrigued me.

Choice 1 : Stay

Choice 2 : Leave

Scene 14.

During the next lesson, half of the students had requested a change of course or teacher. Mr. Greenville quickly noticed this and asked to shorten the session of the second lesson.

Choice 1 : keep going at his course

Choice 2 : Leave his course.

Scene 15.

The next lesson, I was the only one in the class, literally. Mr. Greenville did not seem in his normal state. He was confused and agitated. I was able to leave his class when he took a bathroom break in the middle of the lesson. Later, I learned from my former classmates that the police found Greenville's wife strangled in her living room and that he was the prime suspect. Luckily I left his course and not getting sucked up in this story.

I finally had a purpose. Money is rare, but all I have to do is believe that my dream will come true and continue to see the world and help many people as I possibly can, to make it happen. Right?

I made my choice. I'm not going to travel, I'm going back to the IGA to make as much money as possible. Then, I will apply to Trois-Rivieres's cegep or to the cegep of Sherbrooke in nursing or in social work. I still hesitate, but I still have plenty of time to think. One thing is certain, it is that I want to do a job in which I can help people.

Scene 19.

I think social work might interest me. Unfortunately I won't be taken since I don't have enough high marks to be accepted. It is a dead end.
