My Career as a Financial Planner

It all Started Like This.

I have finally finished my two year program in Social Sciences in college Ahuntsic, and it is officially time to make serious decisions. I am a very skeptical person, and I have a very difficult time taking good choices for my well-being. Now that I have graduated from college, it is time that I take things serious. I have two choices.

Choice 1 : I go to UQAM in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.

Choice 2 : I Take a Break From School for A Year.

College Ahuntsic

I go to UQAM in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.

After assisting a couple of my classes in the degree, I realized that mapping out financial plans, collaborating with people, and keeping up to date with trends and statistics is all very hard. This is why I have a very low attention-span in my classes. I should...

Choice 1 : I Change Programs.

Choice 2 : I Quit School.

Choice 3 : I'll Deal With my Classes.

Frustrated in Class

I Take a Break From School for A Year.

I have decided that I just need a break from homework and exams. I need to find other ways to keep myself entertained, and, at the same, I should be able to fulfill my financial needs. Let's see what the future holds for me!

Choice 1 : Create my own Business.

Choice 2 : Go on a Vacation.

Break From School

I Change Programs.

There are way too many programs to choose from. Which one should I choose?

Choice 1 : I go to UQAM in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Work.

Choice 2 : I go to UQAM in the Bachelors Degree in Administration.

Indecisive

I Quit School.

I couldn't handle all the stress I have dealt with in school. I struggle to keep track of my studies and the financial field is very competitive.

Choice 1 : Create my own Business.

Choice 2 : Go on a Vacation.

Quit

I'll Deal With my Classes.

I have decided to keep studying in the financial program because I know that this is what I love. However, in order to graduate, I need better grades. I am currently failing, and I might get kicked out from the university. Oh, no! What should I do?

Choice 1 : Find a Field-Related Internship or job.

Choice 2 : Focus on my Studies.

Help

I go to UQAM in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Work.

Ever since I chose to study in actuarial work, I have been getting good grades, and I have been performing better than ever! I finally graduated from my program! Who would've known? Jokes aside, where should I work?

Choice 1 : In a Bank.

Choice 2 : In an Insurance Company.

Actuarial Work

I go to UQAM in the Bachelors Degree in Administration.

I am currently finishing my studies in administration to work in an office as an administrator. Administration is not as hard as I thought it would be, but it isn't my cup of tea.

Choice 1 : Start Again!

Administration

In a Bank.

I love working in the bank. I learned how to conduct various interviews, and how to manage risks. I started with an internship, and I got an on-the-job training which has really helped me gain confidence in my work. I love my job and I would never trade this job for anything!

Choice 1 : Start Again!

Bank

In an Insurance Company.

I am working in an insurance company, and I am having the time of my life! My colleges helped me learn the ropes so that I can perform as good as they are. I had a foot in the door since I've learned some little tricks that often come in handy at work. I love what I am doing!

Choice 1 : Start Again!

Insurance

Create my own Business.

I have decided to create my own painting company because I find that my skills need to be known under my own name. I feel like this is the best decision that I have ever made. However, I am overwhelmed by the fact that many customers ask for an official contract, but I don't know how to make one. I am scared that more and more people will start undermining my work. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Go Back to School.

Choice 2 : Hire Someone to do the Work for me.

Painting Decks

Go on a Vacation.

There are so many things that people are missing out on. One of those things is to explore the world. I have always felt the need to travel. Which country should I go visit?

Choice 1 : Go to Morocco.

Choice 2 : Go to Italy.

Travel

Go Back to School.

I managed to put thoughtful considerations in the future of my company by getting the knowledge I needed from school. I learned how to make official contracts. The advantage of this is that customers started to take my company seriously. Clients love my work. I have found my purpose!

Choice 1 : Start Again!

School

Hire Someone to do the Work for me.

I gave a cursory glance on this random resume I had received on Indeed and I made the fatal mistake to hire the person behind it. This person lied and just wanted to take advantage of me. I should have done an in-depth background check on this person. Now, my company is suffering from it. Clients are leaving bad reviews on my website, and I am slowly losing my purpose. What have I done? This can't be happening! I have to do something about this. I should consider going back to school and learn how to make contracts by myself.

Choice 1 : Start Again!

Not Cool

Go to Morocco.

I went to Morocco because I always wanted to volunteer abroad, and Morocco seemed like a good place to go volunteer at. I realized that volunteering has many advantages, such as offering invaluable training, for example. I made the good decision of travelling to Morocco because I made useful business contacts while abroad, instead of making useless friendships while working in a dead-end job. Travelling in a welcoming country is great. In short, I had a blast!

Go to Italy.

I travelled to Italy and enjoyed my time over there. I got sucked up in the culture of the Italians, and I loved it! However, I dreaded my return to Montreal. I had to face the sad reality of going back to my studies. This is so frustrating! Ugh...

Find a Field-Related Internship or job.

Nowadays, I recon that the job markets are extremely competitive. I constantly worry about whether or not my chosen career will provide me with enjoyment and satisfaction. I asked someone for help, and he gave me a good solution. He said the solution might be an internship. In fact, people that would have acquired on-the-job-training for professional careers do it in the form of an internship. Internships short-termed physicians and some physicians might get pay and some might not. If I become an intern, I will have learned the skills needed in a chosen field, and I would be able to test drive a job. If I test drove a job, I would have a higher probability to get hired in the future. A foot in the door as an intern would help me make valuable contacts that would come in handy when I would look for permanent work. Also, if an employer hired me as an intern who has learned the ropes in a job, he would have saved time on training me since I would already be trained, and I would have worked in the field. I would basically be used to the work environment. However, now, I have a dilemma. Someone has offered me an internship, and I worry that it can affect my performance in school. Do I take the internship opportunity or should I avoid it because it might distract me from my studies?

Choice 1 : Accept the Internship Offer.

Choice 2 : Refuse the Internship Offer.

Internship

Focus on my Studies.

It was the second week of the semester and my teachers had already begun piling on the homework. After dinner, I gave my commerce homework a cursory glance and made a snap decision about my time management. I decided to put aside all my unnecessary needs, and I decided to review thoroughly all my commerce homework in order to get straight A's. There is nothing quite so maddening as a student that doesn't do homework, am I right? I happily managed to pull off good grades. I decided to put thoughtful considerations on my homework because pulling off good grades might not be easy every time, especially if there's a lot of homework pilling up. I kept in mind that if I really wanted to get my degree in Bachelors of Science in Accounting, I had to do all my homework. Therefore, I managed to do all my financial homework in time, and I pulled off straight A's! I have my degree. Now, I have to decide where I want to work.

Choice 1 : Work With the Government.

Choice 2 : Work for an Investment Firm.

Graduated

Accept the Internship Offer.

I accepted the internship offer, and it has helped me find a position in the financial planning field. In fact, the hiring process was much easier than I thought. Since I already had the skills, such as the ability to advise clients on investment plans, retirement plans, tax plans, estate plans, and risk management, I was quickly hired. I got hired in a brokerage house, but I could also work in a bank, mutual funds company, investment firm and more. Let's hope that I get a premium wage in the future! With hard work comes its advantages!

I have refused the internship offer, and now I will have a hard time gaining experience in the financial planning world. I wish I had made a better decision...

Work With the Government.

I now work for the government. I am very well-payed, and I love to help people reach their long-term financial goals. I always keep an eye on my customers' deposits, expenses, and I check for the fair market value of a product or property, and more! I do everything for my clients and I make sure that our government keeps a good reputation, especially finance wise.

Work Together

Work for an Investment Firm.

I work in an investment firm, and I couldn't wish for better! This investment firm is family owned, and I hope that, one day, I will make our firm very well-known. I keep a close eye on inflation, junk bonds, my customers' net worth and ordinary income. I verify probates, rollovers, stocks, and trusts. I pay close attention to unsecured debt, my customers' wages and values. In brief, I check everything I can, and I manage assets so that I can better people's financial lives. Isn't that amazing!
