My future.

I finished my degree in early childhood education.

I officially have my degree in early childhood education! I am so proud of myself, but I'm still not sure what I want to do now.

Choice 1 : Continue my studies in University.

Choice 2 : Go work in my field of study.

Graduation photo

Continue my studies at University.

I've been accepted in psycho-education at the University of Montreal. I'm currently watching the press conference of the Government of Quebec. They are announcing that, because of Covid, Cegep and University are back to remote learning. I doubt that I can pass all my classes through remote learning. What do I do?

Choice 1 : Continue my bachelor's degree.

Choice 2 : Drop out

UDeM

Continue my bachelor's degree.

I'm so happy, I found myself an internship in a great association where I would learn the ropes and, hopefully put a foot in the door for my future. Oh no! I am an intern for only a week, and I'm not feeling safe here. My mentor flirts insistently with me. His misconduct makes me really uncomfortable. I don't know what I should do with this.

Choice 1 : Continue my internship.

Choice 2 : Ask my University to change my internship location.

Psychoeducation internship

Ask my University to change my internship location.

After a great conversation with the woman who is my internship supervisor, she told me that the only internship that is still available is an on-the-job-training in Australia! I have 3 days to call her back and tell her if I take it or not. What do I do?

Choice 1 : Accept the opportunity.

Choice 2 : Refuse and wait another year to do my internship.

Meeting the teacher

Continue my internship.

I decide to keep going with my internship, I don't want to let the harassment distract me from my goals. I'm just not sure if it's a good idea to go talk to HR. I'm scared that it will cost me my place in the association.

Choice 1 : Talk to HR.

Choice 2 : Put aside this story and don't talk about the situation.

Harrassement questions

Talk to HR.

Yesterday, I talked to HR. The person who took my complaint said to me that they were glad I spoke up about the situation because now, they have enough complaints to fire him. I open the door of my office and a new lady is waiting for me. She explains that she's my new boss for the internship, with a big smile. I'm so relieved, I can now continue my internship in a safe environment.

Accept the opportunity.

I'm so happy that I accepted this opportunity. I live in Australia, near Sidney, and I love it. I have an incredible job where I help a lot of kids and families. More over, it's always hot and sunny here! It's a dream come true.

Refuse and wait another year to do my internship.

This gap year has been a blessing for me. I took time to do the things that I enjoy, take care of myself and work some more to put aside some money for my future.

Go work in my field of study.

I love what I've studied. Taking care of children, helping them develop their social, physical, cognitive and language abilities, it's a passion and vocation for me. The only thing that I must decide is the environment I want to go work at.

Choice 1 : Go work in a private daycare.

Choice 2 : Go work in a government daycare.

Choice 3 : Start my own daycare at home.

Choices

Go work in a private daycare.

I send my resume to 2 different private daycares and they both called back this morning. Now, I have to choose between the daycare #1 that is at 5 minute walk from my house or the daycare #2 that is offering me a better wage and schedule.

Choice 1 : Choose the daycare #1.

Choice 2 : Choose the daycare #2.

Balance

Choose the daycare #1.

After two weeks of working in the private daycare near my house, they closed it because they found mold everywhere in the basement. I lost my job. I have to find myself a new place to work.

Choice 1 : Choose another environment

Mold

Choose the daycare #2.

I have been working here for 2 weeks, and I'm not sure if I want to stay in this kind of environment. Office politics are a common thing here. They are withholding a lot of information from me, so now I look like a bad educator to the eyes of my boss.

Choice 1 : Call back daycare #1.

Choice 2 : Give them another chance.

Officepolitics

Call back daycare #1.

They are informed me that they found mold in the basement, so they closed the daycare yesterday. I have no other choice than going back and search for another job in a new daycare. Hopefully, I will find a permanent position that corresponds to all of my criteria's that I'm looking for in a job.

find a job

Give them another chance.

Last night, I wrote an e-mail to all my colleagues to talk about the situation and asked if we could find some solutions together. Since this morning, they're all coming up to me to apologize, we are currently working on solutions on how to make this a more pleasant work environment for everyone. I am really happy to see that they want to work with me and keep me on the team.

Go work in a government daycare.

I found myself a really good job in a government daycare. But now, I realize that it's a dead-end position. If I want to get a better position and a better wage, I have to gain some out of the box experiences or go back to school. But, is this what I really want?

Choice 1 : Keep going as an early childhood educator.

Choice 2 : Go help kids around the world by doing volunteering abroad.

Choice 3 : Go to the University in psycho-education.

dead end

Keep going as an early childhood educator.

Even if it's a dead-end position, I love what I do, and it's really my passion. It enables me to live a great life and have some money put aside. .

I'm so happy I chose to keep going. I opened my daycare yesterday, and I am so grateful. I love how I chose to design and decor my daycare to stimulate the kids and respond easily to their needs. My educational approach is really connected to what I believe in and what the kids need.
