Future career

My advice for your future career.

Criminology is essential in society: it's an important field in sociology and researchers tend to be aware of the nature of the crimes in society. If you're interested in understanding how crimes occur and the patterns behind some criminal acts, then this career might be an excellent choice for you. A criminologist studies the crimes themselves but also criminal behavior, to demystify how much, they can impact society. As a criminologist, you can work for the government, the law enforcement, or you can work as a researcher. Their purpose is to prevent recurrent criminal act and to understand them. By learning what it means to be a criminologist since high school, I always really wanted to become one. Consequently, I got admitted to university in Criminology studies. For now, I must complete my DEC in Social Sciences. Being in this program helps me because we learn about many topics, such as mental illnesses, different behavior and more. This is the two of many topics that interest me the more, because it's important in Criminology. But sometimes, in Social Science, it can be difficult to know what you want to do in the future since we have all type of different classes. When you finish your DEC in Social Science, you can become a teacher, a criminologist, in rights, history and a lot more. So sometimes it can be very difficult finding your future career by choosing only one subject. I personally enjoy many classes like I said. Beside wanting to be a criminologist, I wanted to be a psychologist are a police officer. Because I love to help people with their problems, and my friends always told me that I had a good ear for listening and good advice. But since I learned what it meant to be a criminologist; I changed my mind to wanting my future career in criminology. It compiles all three of the subjects that are important to me. Helping people by learning about their mental health, understand them and wanting a better society for everyone. As a matter of fact, my uncle happens to be sentenced for 10 years because he committed a crime. At first, I never wanted to see him again. It scared me that someone like him (a criminal) can be in society like a normal human being, as if he was anyone. As I grew up, I started to ask myself: "Why did he do that? How can he be able to sleep at night?" What I didn't know by then, during his reinsertion, a criminologist tried to understand him and helped him. I always thought this kind of analysis fascinating. Therefore, learning how he was followed to reinsert society, I now know that becoming a criminologist is my future career. I want to understand why criminals act like they do and how they do their crimes. Also, since I was a kid, I always loved to watch true crimes documentary. It fascinated me to see how much effort and work it took to find why and how criminals acted like they did. So, to know what interest you in your personal life can really help you in your future career. Yes, school can help you, but you really must know yourself and know what subject interest you. Therefore, I know that Cegep can be boring sometimes because of all the different topics, but at the same time learning a little about everything can be important. To conclude, I personally think it's important to understand yourself by knowing what your real interest in school and search for different types of career that attract and fascinate you. You can always find a career that compiles all your interest in one are you can do different job at the same time. Therefore, I really want to be a criminologist, not only because it's a career path that interest me but also because it can help to prevent all sort of crimes. I want to make our society a better place for everyone.
