The beginning.

It’s my last year of high school, and I have to decide where I want to go next. I have currently two options. Either I apply to Ahuntsic College, which is pretty far from my home, or I apply to Edouard Montpetit, which is pretty close to my house. I will apply in commerce for both cegeps.

Choice 1 : Apply to Ahuntsic College.

Choice 2 : Apply to Edouard Montpetit.

Ahuntsic College.

I applied to Ahuntsic College and I got accepted! With my program, I learn the basics of management. I also learn the basics of marketing. Although cegep fees are pretty low, I have to get myself a job to pay those fees. Since I want to pull off straight A’s, I have to work part-time. Either I work in a grocery store 20 hours a week, or in a drugstore 30 hours a week. Both of them are offering minimum wage.

Choice 1 : Go work in a grocery store.

Since I don’t work a lot of hours, I’m able to make enough money to cover my expenses, but I’m also able to pull off straight A’s. Though the cegep program is easy, the amount of wok I have to do is maddening. With good time management, I’m able to hand in every assignment. Now that cegep is done, I have to make another important choice. Either I work full time in the grocery store as a Director with a really good salary, or I continue my studies at HEC Montreal.

Choice 1 : End my studies and work as the director.

Choice 2 : Continue my studies at HEC Montreal.

Working as the Director.

I chose to work full-time, and it really didn’t pay off. Since I had experience, my work allowed me to have the position, but they soon realized that I didn’t have what they were looking for. Since I ended my studies early, I wasn’t aware of many things, such as investments, tax, insurance and so on. My boss saw my incompetence, and they fired me. I have to go back and continue my studies!

Continue my studies at HEC Montreal.

I decide to work really hard, just like I did in cegep. With my good grades, and my experience in retail sales, I’m able to work in multiples prestigious company as an intern. After my studies, a company offers me a contract, and I accept it. I’m making a really good salary, and I’m really happy working there, at Apple.

Drugstore.

The amount of stress I have from working 30 hours a week and studying full time in cegep is too immense! I decide to drop school. My parents don’t agree, and they expel me from their house. With my little knowledge of commerce, I switch jobs, and I work as a salesperson in a small company. It is a dead-end job, and I end up working there for the rest of my life! I get a few raises here and there, but I could’ve done way better!

Edouard Montpetit.

I applied to Edouard Montpetit and I got accepted! With my program, I learn the basics of management. I also learn the basics of marketing. Since I live near the cegep, my parents don’t have to pay me a car, and they decide to pay my tuition fees. A lot of my friends that I met in high school are in the same program. I want to go into a good university, but I also want to have a lot of fun with my friends. What should I do?

Choice 1 : Go out and party!

I decide to put aside most of my assignments and go party. I end up with really bad habits and since my interests and motivation are gone, I have no other choice but to drop out of cegep. My parents don’t agree with me and kick me out of the house. I end up working at McDonald’s. I can’t say that my parents didn’t warn me. With time, I become the manager. I’m able to make a lot of profits and my bosses are really happy. They offer me a franchise, and I accept. I’m now in charge of my own McDonald’s. I hire the employees and I do the inventories and so much more. I also ensure that no employees undermine each other. I did bad choices in school, but my hard work paid off at the end of the day. I could’ve had more, but I’m happy with what I have.

Study a lot.

My cegep is quite long since I don’t go out that often, but at least I finish first of my class. I apply at McGill business faculty, and I am accepted. They are also offering me a full scholarship. I’m able to concentrate on my studies since I don’t have to work in a part-time job, and I end up once again top of my class. I want to try to launch my own business, but I also have an offer from Nike.

Choice 1 : Become an entrepreneur.

Choice 2 : Go work at Nike.

Becoming an entrepreneur.

I am an entrepreneur. I create my own company, and it works pretty well. Although my product is great, I don’t have enough money to pursue my dream. I ask for a loan and the bank accept after a thorough examination of the future benefits the company could bring them. After a few years, the company is exactly where I wished it would be. After many years I decide to sell all of my assets, the company included, in order to live the rest of my life in Miami. I retired at 45 years old with everything I ever dreamed of.

Working at Nike.

I work 50 hours a week to make sure my boss sees what I’m capable of. After a few weeks, my boss offers me a new position in the headquarters of the company. There is a vacant position. I work as a purchaser and afterward, I work in product development. I have a lot of benefits working there. I also have a lot of vacations. I finally ended up as the Chief Executive Manager of the company (CEO) after 35 years working here. Most of my salary is now compensations with the price of the stock of the company. I hire people, and I manage the whole company. I think I did a pretty good job with my life. I’d like to think so at least.
