My first jobs.

Right after secondary school, I was really stressed out because I had to make a choice, and I didn't have a lot of time. I was a lone in my room and my parents didn't stop asking what I was going to do. I had to choose between either getting the first job at IGA or Dollarama or staying at home and not work before going back to school for college.

IGA phone call.

Once I did my interview for IGA, I started to be really excited. I realized there were a lot of people my age working there. I was waiting for a call to finally get the verdict. My choices were waiting alone for the phone call or going out with my friends and taking the chance to probably miss the call.

I was my first official day at IGA, and I was surprised how were coming my colleagues a talked to me. More often than not it was the guys that were talking to me. I was making uncomfortable at point because I was getting sucked up in the drama. The girls were a bit jealous, but I had no clue. So, I had to make a choice between staying friend with the guys or being friends with the girls.

Sexual harassment.

I was started getting really close with my guys' friends at work, but they were way too close to me, and it made me uncomfortable. I then decide to tell them I was already in a relationship. They were frustrated but still continue to flirt with me. I wasn't flirting back this time, and one guy in particular just continue, and got worst. I decided to go see the office politics, and of course it wasn't aloud. The next day, I made an appointment with a hr. Of course, the news circles fast, and the guy got consequences, but it became a big scandal. So, I had two choices, to stay because I need the money or leave because it became a toxic environment.

Dead-end job.

I was working on my last day at IGA and I realized there was no future there, I couldn't make a leaving at IGA for the life style I was living. I remembered that there was no advantage working at IGA, no pension, no bonus, no vacation (if you're new)... I didn't have the courage to say I wanted to quit so, I told my boss I was going on a leave of absence. This was probably not the right way to do it, but it was the only way for me. New choices came up, I had to choose between getting a new job or taking time for myself because IGA wasn't a good experience.

A new job at the bank.

One day, I went to the bank because I had a fee in my account and I didn't understand why. The financial advisor ask me if I wanted to work at the bank. I was so happy because the National Bank is a really good company, now it is like a brand that everyone wants to be associated to. Even the competitor like BMO took the same action as the National Bank. I made an appointment to open a saving account and finally get a credit card. When I told my mom about what happened at the bank she was proud and told me that the bank was going to do a background check because I was going to deal with the finance of other people.

After the interview.

After my interview, I got the call that I officially got the job. So, they let me know of my advantages at the bank. The top three advantages are the premium wage (a really good salary), pension and the deduction I have in packages for my finance. At the moment, I was proud of myself because I was eighteen years old, and I just had got my first real job. A job like this one, is amazing for anybody at any age. I forgot to have mentioned that I could've just work there for the summer. So, I had to decide if I tell them (and risk my place) or just focused at my job and not tell them.

Internship.

During my time at the bank, it was very hard because I didn't know how thing worked, so I always had another person with me, and telling me what to do. Also, summer is the time to go out and have fun with friends, but I couldn't because I was always working. I wasn't so good for time management, I had no social life anymore. I was really busy and didn't like it as much. I had two option, to take a break of work for my mental health or keep working like I was.

Drama.

After a month of working, I was exhausted and what really bothered me was the bad energy in the bank. I had two bosses and both of them didn't like each other, it was a lot of conflicts. They were putting their problems on other people, I was getting I sucked in because they were asking the other employees who they liked the most. It was getting toxic, they were competing for everything the customers, the sells, the friends, the profits... I had to decide between telling their superior or staying quiet because I was new.

My last month there, I was finally adapted to everything. I was happy, I made new friends, I learned how to deal with accidents that my colleagues made, and I started to feel good. Unfortunately, the summer was coming to an end, and I had to tell them the truth because school was restarting, and I couldn't do it, there were both during the day. So, I had to tell them how much I appreciated the opportunity, but sadly I had to leave.
