My Choices, My Future!
What program?
I was in secondary 5, I saw the guidance counselor because I didn’t know what I wanted to do after high school. We talked for one hour about my bias, my personality, my passions and my straight A's. At the end of the meeting, I decided to choose a job in psychology. I am a person who love human, and I like to understand their behaviors and actions. I got two choices, special education or social work. A specialized educator is to work directly with the person (disabilities, bad behaviors), and a social worker is to work with the environment of the person (family, school, work).

What school?
I decided to go in special education, but I had to choose one of two different schools. My two option was College Montmorency in Laval or Cegep de Saint-Jérome in Saint-Jérome. My mom lives in Laval, at 15 min of College Montmorency. All of my friends were in Laval but my relationship with my mom was bad. If I chose College Montmorency, I had to go live with my mom. In the summer, my dad was moving in a new house in Gore. It is one hour of Laval and 20 min of Cegep de Saint-Jérome. I wanted to live with my dad, but his new home was far from my friends.

Healthy first.
I decided to stay in Laval with my mom and going to College Montmorency. At my 3rd session, I was really tired and sick of school. I didn’t come to a lot of class. I was staying a home to sleep. The return in presence was really hard for me. I also had a lot of health problems. I went to the doctor every week. I had to choose if I want to leave school or stay. It was a hard choice because I liked my program, but I was tired and sick.

1 job or 2?
I decided to stay in school, because it was important for me, and it was my purpose. I passed all my class, but it was close. This summer, I will work in day camp for kids with special need 40h/week. I will accompany one kid for all summer. I am also working in a ressource center for special need. For this summer, my boss told me if I don’t give availablity, I will be fired. I need to choose if I want to take the risk to lost my job for day camp or not. 50h/week is to much for me, but I love my actual job.
