I'm very interested in the study of the human body. It has always been my passion, but I can't decide if I want to become a Medical Imaging technologist or if I want to become a nurse.
Choice 1 : I applied for admission at Ahuntsic College for a medical imaging program.
Choice 2 : I applied for an admission at Lionel Groulx College for a Nursing program.
I finally got the college admission acceptance. I was so excited to start studying medical imaging because I love working with the human body. I have studied the anatomy of the human body a lot in my previous studies, so I believe that they will help me to perform well and succeed in this program. When I searched for job opportunities in the field, I was very surprised to find that there was a huge need for technologists in hospitals with very good salaries. I finally decided to accept this offer of admission, and to go to Ahuntsic College.
Choice 1 : Experience at the College.
Choice 2 : Offers declined to go get better grades.
I am finally accepted in the technique to become a nurse. I am very happy to be able to go and study in this field and help people. Human anatomy has always been my passion and I'm very excited to start. However, given the current situation with Covid-19, I am no longer sure I want to become a nurse.
Choice 1 : Experience at the Lionel Groulx College.
Choice 2 : Offers to decline to the Nursing program.
Ahuntsic College is an excellent school for my program. It is the only one that offers so many Diagnostic Imaging machines, as well as real simulation in emergency situations. There is a very nice atmosphere in my classes. We carefully learn about human anatomy by taking courses in biology and physics. My program lasts 3 years with some internship opportunities in hospitals.
Choice 1 : Working hard at school.
Choice 2 : Having fun.
I finally decided to refuse the offer because I would like to focus on my grades for 1 year to increase my average and get rid of compulsory courses in college. I find that there is too much work in 3 years of technique, so I prefer to do it over 4 years. I will therefore enter to Spring Board to a DCS to do all my compulsory courses in 1 year and have fewer workloads for the future.
Choice 1 : I applied for admission at Ahuntsic College for a medical imaging program.
Choice 2 : Experience at the College.
My experience in College was really not good. The Nursing program is really less interesting than I thought and really does not come to pick me up. Classes are boring and action less. There is no simulation in an emergency situation in this program, so I do not feel ready to go to work in a real environment in this field of study.
Choice 1 : I applied for admission at Ahuntsic College for a medical imaging program.
Choice 2 : Offers to decline to the Nursing program.
Talking with my mother, I realized that this program was not for me. It is not in this field of work that I want to spend my life.
Choice 1 : I applied for admission at Ahuntsic College for a medical imaging program.
Choice 2 : Offers declined to go get better grades.
My goal is to get A's in all subjects, to get a good overall average. To achieve this goal, I have to study very hard. I can share my experience and give some tips that I learned throughout my school career. My first advice is to avoid a superficial attitude, to study, to be very organized and to be very attentive to all the details that the teachers give. Also, keep in mind that if you put aside important homework or projects, you will miss the opportunity to check your weaknesses, practice yourself, and you will be late in the assigned assignments. Start doing it and ask for help when you need it. In class, try to be active, you can participate by asking questions and answering questions from the teacher. You need to take careful notes to remember some difficult points explained and discussed in class.
Choice 1 : Internship.
Choice 2 : Looking for the right job opportunities.
I'm taking a break from school because I find it boring to always go to school and do lots of exams. I, no longer do my work on time, and I hardly ever go to school anymore. In place. I decided to do fun activities with my friends. During exam period, I feel confused, I haven't spent much time studying that I don't know where to start. I try to study be, but I can't do it so much I'm exhausted. I don't sleep enough and overindulge in coffee and energy drinks. My grades are awful, and I'm really afraid to sink my year, and moreover my chances of success are very slim.
Choice 1 : Working hard at school.
Choice 2 : Falling to pass.
I started my internship at the hospital after my 3 years at Ahuntsic College. It was a good opportunity to learn the ropes. In addition, it was useful for me to get a job offer by the end of the internship period. I was an intern at the Saint-Justine hospital. I had many customer contacts, and medical visitors. My internship lasted 1 year, and some days I was overwhelmed. I did not receive any salary for the services I rendered because I was a trainee. But it was a good experience, a kind of test drive to see if I really like the job or not. I recommend the internship to people who are unsure about the career they want to have in the future. The trainees are very well-trained and can have a job offer at the end of the period without going through on-the-job training, which can be very useful for us and for our fellow trainees. I gained valuable experience, learned the basics of the trade and did a test drive in 1 year and at a lower cost.
Choice 1 : Starting a professional career.
Choice 2 : Volunteering abroad.
I just finished my 3 years at school, and I'm trying to determine what will be best for my future.
Choice 1 : Internship.
Choice 2 : Volunteering abroad.
At the end of my college studies, I decided to volunteer abroad because I wanted to be able to experience my feeling of freedom one last time before embarking on my definitive career. Some of my friends were skeptical about the idea due to security concerns I might have in a foreign country. I thoroughly checked volunteer opportunities with the Canadian Red Cross and contacted them to express my willingness to volunteer in their “Emergency Response Teams (ERU)”. This team was created to increase the speed and efficiency of the Red Cross response to disasters, and to treat malnourished children. They don't know yet where they're going to deploy the team, but they've offered me free transportation, premium pay, and free housing at a resort. Volunteering has many benefits. Indeed, it allows us to help people in need, to learn new languages, to taste new dishes, to discover new cultures, etc. But the most important benefit is to gain hands-on experience that can be useful later. On another side, volunteering in a foreign country has its drawbacks as well. I found two. The first is not earning any income. The other disadvantage is the lack of communication with the family because there is no internet connection in these rural areas.
Choice 1 : Starting a professional career.
Choice 2 : Internship.
I have just applied in several work institutions, and I can't wait to start. Many have called me back for interviews, so I'm excited to start a new chapter in my life.
Choice 1 : My experience at the CHUM hospital.
Choice 2 : Office politics.
I took too long a break from school. The fact of no longer doing the required work made my success much more difficult. It was hard to get top marks to pass most of my exams. Because of her, I failed my first year in college.
Choice 1 : Working hard at school.
Choice 2 : Experience at the College.
I visited a job website to see available hospital positions in my field. I discovered that the CHUM hospital had 1 position to fill which is according to my qualifications. The institution offers several advantages for me including, an above average salary, it offers many other advantages such as pension. Several leaves given if there is no emergency. Employees receive their salary on a weekly basis. The workers all seem very nice. I find this a great opportunity, and I can't wait to start working with this charming dream team.
Choice 1 : Office politics.
Choice 2 : End of career.
I have just started a new office job in a hospital. I'm the youngest employee who has no prior work experience, and I'm clueless about office politics. I just graduated from school, and I thought the working environment would be friendly, like the impression I got during my guided tours. Without knowing, it I was rejected by my other co-workers because of my lack of experience. I heard them talking behind my back, and saying not very nice things about me. I have even been drawn into conflicts because of the false rumors they spread about me. I was tired of letting them do it, so I decided to go talk to them. I told them that withholding information and gossiping was not a good work environment. This has a huge impact on the productivity of our department. They promised to change their behavior towards me, and they did. After several weeks, I noticed that my colleagues were never going to stop bullying me. I finally left work a few months later because of their unfavorable behavior, and also because I prefer to work in action rather than in an office. It was a very traumatic experience. But now, I found a new job, in a new hospital where the people and my colleagues are perfect and very caring.
Choice 1 : End of career.
Choice 2 : Bad experience at work.
I worked for more than 20 years in 1 single hospital, and several clinics across the country. I made a lot of friends, I bought a nice house in Rosemere where I live with my 2 children and my husband. Throughout my long career, I have saved a lot of money to be able to fully live a beautiful retirement I deserve. My kids have been telling me for a long time that it's time for me to retire...I think this year is the right one to do it.
Choice 1 : Time for retirement.
Choice 2 : Resign and start new project.
I have reached the age of 60, and I have been working for more than 30 years. I can't stand the motivation to work anymore. I put in a lot of hours of emergency work, worked with lots of great people, and made lots of lifelong friends. I have 2 extraordinary children who gave me 5 grandchildren, and a very present and caring husband for me. I am very proud of the life I have led helping so many people in my work.

I find that I have worked enough, and I want to change my way of life. Therefore, I resigned from my job to take time for myself, and to start a small rental business, in order to continue to have financial income. I decided to rent the two rooms of my children in my house since they no longer live in my house for a long time. In this way, I continued to have an income without overtiring myself, and I created a small business to occupy my free time. I miss my previous job very much, as well as my colleagues with whom I spent good times. They often come to visit me to have a good time, and to remind us of our memories at work.
Choice 1 : Time for retirement.
Many things happen at work. I deal with several negative situations, and I no longer feel in my place.
Choice 1 : Sexual harassment.
Choice 2 : Corruption at work.
I have a co-worker who often flirts with me. He is not afraid to tell me what he thinks of me, to touch my arm, to touch my hair, my lips etc. One day, I was taking a picture of a man's right femur, and he decided to come into my room to talk to me. The timing wasn't very appropriate, so I asked him out, but he took it badly. He started getting mad at me, and touching me sexually in front of my patient. I was so shocked with emotion and terror, that I was unable to move to defend myself. These gestures began to be more and more aggressive when he undressed me. The patient I was analyzing comes to save me by hitting my colleague on the head. He was outraged at how badly I had been treated. Leaving the photography room, he came with me to report the inexcusable behavior to my supervisor. Everyone was in shock upon learning my story, and preventive measures were put in place to send my co-worker to prison for rape. The hospital where I worked apologized to me, but I will never forget this disastrous experience.
Choice 1 : Resign and start new project.
Choice 2 : End of career.
I witnessed a scene of corruption in my photography department. A colleague of mine received a bribe for turning in a document photograph of a broken leg for one of our clients that was positive. I didn't understand why the client had asked him for this favor, so I went to find out. I went to talk to my colleague about the incident, and he replied that the client wanted to have 3 months of paid leave from work. The client had the idea of having a false leg broken to have these months off, and he needed a fake photograph from us. I was so shocked that I told him he had no right to do this. He didn't take it very well, and he threatened me. I didn't care about his threats, so I reported the matter to my supervisor, who told me that this colleague had been warned several times for the same action, but continued to misbehave. With such behavior, this colleague seriously damages the assets of the hospital. Thanks to my intervention, my supervisor fired him, and social services took care of him to send him before a judge because the hospital brought several charges against him. He is currently in court, and must await his sentence.
