Pursuing my studies to University.

I'm pursuing my studies to University to become a lawyer. To become a lawyer you usually have to execute 4 years of undergraduate study, followed by 3 years of law school for a total of 7 years of full-time study after high school. The steps to complete these years of study are the following; I'll need to obtain an Undergraduate Degree, then I'll have to take the LSAT and obtain a score between 120 and 180. The next step is choosing the law school you want to go to and submit an application. Once I've been to law school there's only one step left, to complete Provincial Bar Admissions Course and Article. This type of internship is exactly what I need, it'll expose me to the different areas of law, as well as give me the experience of what it is to be a lawyer in Canada.

I'm finally done with my studies. A law firm contacted me to offer me a job as a paralegal. I started working for them two weeks ago and since I've been there I have learned a lot already. During my program we did learn to do our research on computers. I'm glad we did because now most of my research is done online as well as most of our documents. Other tasks we do on a daily basis consists of helping lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts, write or summarize reports helping lawyers to prepare for trials and even call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions.

Choosing Child Protection and Family as a legal specialty.

I am now Child Protection and Family lawyer. Not too long ago, there was a case I worked on where I ended up representing a mother trying to gain back custody of her children after they'd entered the foster care system. We fought so hard but ended up losing the case, it was hard not to think about her and her children. I have to work on cases that evoke emotions like those in family cases, sometimes it's hard to separate my professional life from my personal life or not to get too involved with the family or children.
