Introduction.

During a normal day just like the others, you were very excited for what was going to happen this evening. You were going to get so exciting news! You just graduated from Accounting and Management Technology at Ahuntsic College, and you didn’t know what you should do first. You had to choose the right choice.

Choice 1 : You decide to go to university

Scene 1.

Congrats! Going to the university was a good choice. Throughout your last two years of college, your semesters went greatly, your grades were amazing! You have gotten straight A’s on your report card, but some subjects were your Achilles’ heel. However, you still haven’t made your choice. You are hesitating of applying between two universities.

Now, you decided to work a full-time job in a retail store. It is next to your house which is perfect for you. Since you graduated in the field of accounting, you hesitated between working in two different career paths.

Congratulations! You have been accepted at HEC Montreal. The first time you were going to the university, you suddenly heard rumors going forward about this university. When you heard this, you started to be skeptical about if you made a wrong decision. However, as time passes by, you were invited to attend your first day of classes, but you were still confused. The purpose of this invitation was to show you a tour of the university. How will you approach the beginning of the semester?

Wow! That was an excellent choice! UQAM was the best-known university in Canada. However, after 5 years of studies, you needed to do the CPA exam. You had to do it in order to become a certified accountant.

As you decided to work a full-time job in a retail store that is next to your house, you chose to be a forensic accountant. As a forensic accountant, you needed to do multiple chores. You needed to examine fraudulent cases and you needed to investigate crimes and report them to the supervisor. However, as you were trying to investigate a recent crime, you found out that one of your colleagues committed a crime. No one was with you when you found out, but you decided to tell your supervisor about it. After you told him, and because you did the right thing to do, he offered you to choices: to start your own business and you got a promotion by your supervisor or you could take one month off and go on vacation.

Scene 6.

The role of a financial accountant is to work for a single organization by preparing reports about profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. As you knew the role, and as you had your own office, you thought everything was going to be fine. One day you were at you job, and you realized that you got sucked up in office politics. As you were minding your own business and making some important papers, one of your colleagues popped in your office, and he tried to undermine you at work. He did a lot of things such as hindered your ability to do a job because the manner you were using was different than others, that you were very slow when you were checking how the balance sheet works. He was making comments about your job, but he was also spreading rumors about you to others. You did not let him continue, because you did not accept someone to talk to you that way. You decided to explain to him that if he continued like that, you would report it to your supervisor, because people like him are here to create a toxic work environment, and because this attitude was not okay at all. As you were trying to scare him, he did not seem to be scared, he insisted on you. You called the supervisor and explained to him that your colleague was hindering your ability to do your job by withholding information. The manager called your colleague, and came with a conclusion that you colleague was competed with you. You had to face difficult choices.

After hearing rumors, you decided to quit the university. You did not take the good choice! You supposed that it is your colleagues that spread rumors because they don’t want you to work with them and because they were jealous of you. Unfortunately, it’s very sad, because that was false and the university of HEC Montreal had a good reputation.

On the first day of class, you attended your first class and you took notes. Your teacher explained the outline of the course (that was sexual harassment) and taught you few concepts, like the difference between flirtation and perpetrator. Flirtation is a behavior that demonstrates a playful sexual attraction to someone, while a perpetrator is a person who commits a criminal or evil act. For example, in order to stop this, in your discussion sessions, the teacher suggested to all the class to watch some educational videos that clearly outlines the disadvantages of it. As you were taking notes, you noticed that something was wrong. When you turned, there was a colleague who was trying to have an unacceptable behaviour towards a colleague. He was trying to flirt a girl with hand languages and she seemed to feel shy about this situation. Flirtation was crossing the line. What should you do now?

Oh no! You did not pass the CPA test, but it is okay. Despite that you’ve performed your very best, you have still failed. You’ve studied really hard and you didn’t put aside some easy exercises. So, what you did to prepare was that you went thoroughly over your notes that you took in class. You did your best and that is what matters. Moreover, your attitude was maddening to know if you did something wrong on you exam. You were thoughtful on how you could get better grades. Since you already had good time management skills, to achieve your goal, you set a planner and did everything great. Though, after falling dramatically because of the fact that you did not pass the CPA test, you had a choice to make.

Choice 1 : You always wanted to become a CPA, but you are thinking of joining a company since you did an internship, and you learned the ropes.

Choice 2 : You are going to wait until next year in order to pass it again.

Scene 10.

Congratulations! You passed your CPA test. Now that you had enough acquisition of the field of accounting, you hesitated applying for work in big or small companies. Each one has its own benefits. This decision was really hard for you. What would you do?

As you decided to start your own business, you’ve hired a lot of employees to help you with all the chores. Your company became the first most-known company branch with more than eight-hundred clients. Plus, as told by your supervisor, you’ve got a promotion that changed your life! After starting your own business, you became rich. Congrats!

You decided to call your supervisor to talk about this situation. However, your supervisor knew that you and your colleague were in love and said that this situation had to be fixed between both of you. The supervisor left and your colleague crossed the line. You had to deal with sexual harassment, but you don’t know what to do.

Then, they explained to you that as you were a foot in the door, you would be an intern in your field of study. You agreed to what they said, and you began the internship. Moreover, since it was very easy for you, it took you less time to learn the ropes because you knew how the balance sheet works. Now, you are excited to learn new notions about the course in Accounting and Management Technology. You decide to join the company and you become rich!
