My career as an Administrative Assistant.

High school is over.

My high school graduation is over. I am now 17 years old. I have to make a choice of studies for cegep. I hesitate between 2 important options. There are the Technique of Accounting and Office Automation. I would have liked the Police Technology program, but a few years ago I got hit by a car and I have trauma in one of my legs that makes me invalid for the program so I accepted that I can't do this program. So which program should I choose?

Choice 1 : Accounting technique.

Choice 2 : The Office Automation.

Accounting technique.

Finally, I made a choice and I entered cegep in accounting and management. In this program we do a lot of mathematics. Moreover, there are courses in marketing which I like more than mathematics. I feel comfortable in this program. For my second year, things are not going so well. I realize that I like office work more than accounting. Accounting and finance courses are getting harder and harder. Unfortunately, I get several bad grades which make me abandon the program.

The Office Automation.

The office technology is described as a program for working in company offices. With this program I plan to either become a secretary or an administrative assistant. The first lessons in this program are going well. I have good grades and the lessons interest me. Years pass and I pass this program. This experience helped me a lot in knowing what I wanted to do later as a job. Now I have to think about what I'm going to do after leaving cegep. Either work, go to university or take time for myself and enjoy life, so travel.

Choice 1 : Travel.

Choice 2 : Working at Desjardins.

Choice 3 : Going to university.

Travel.

Following my studies, I decided to take time for myself. I've always wanted to travel so here I am. With the money from my scholarships, I went around the countries in Europe. They were all wonderful places. I have visited France, Italy, Greece, and Spain. Unfortunately, on my last visit there was an incident. I got lost and I tried to get help from people, but one of them stole the rest of my money, so I had a lot of trouble getting home. Despite everything I enjoyed my trip, but it will take time before I travel again. Or maybe to have a better organization to travel and I will not travel alone again. It's always better to travel with people you know.

Working at Desjardins.

I decided to apply to Desjardins. I was accepted and I was trained there. To start out, I began as a cashier. Following my 3-month internship, I could start working alone as a cashier. I had a good salary and increases every year. Of course, there were ups and downs. Due to a lack of personnel, I had to learn quicker and quicker in order to become more autonomous. I was more and more left by myself. For customer transactions, it was fine, but when it came to the questions they asked me, it came down to finance issues. I received many questions about taxes, pension funds and mortgages. Every time, I could never respond to customers, because I didn't know anything about these topics and they weren't my field of study. They were closely related to my old accounting program, so that's when I realized I didn't want to stay in that position. Besides, it wasn't an office job. At that time I was wondering if I should apply for a new position.

Try to get another type of job at Desjardins.

I was accepted as a receptionist at desjardins. I was too happy, because it was a job directly in my field of study. I didn't need to be an intern, I went straight to work. For sure my colleague teach me this job because I don't know everything about being a receptionist. At my job, I had to welcome customers at the reception. Sometimes, it was not always easy situations. I came across customers who came to file a complaint and sometimes they said threats so it wasn't great. Moreover, this position was very similar to that of a secretary. I had to take care of document management, filing and filling out forms. I also had to compose letters for clients and make phone appointments. One thing I liked to do was organize events. It took time and a lot of organization, but it was nice. For now I think I won't change my jobs and work there for a long time. There is many advantage to work at Desjardins. This job is the best thing that append to me.

Going to university.

Finally, I decided to go to university. I chose that of Laval University in Quebec. I took an apartment close to the school to avoid traffic in the city. I am in administration management program. Everything was fine until I discovered that a teacher often gave me bad grades, but I didn't understand because I knew I was doing everything right. So, I decided to do my personal investigations. I found out he was an illegal teacher who took bribes. After discovering this I immediately denounced him. Since I had studied in fiance I know what fraud and bribes was. I wasn't the only one who had a bad grade with this teacher. So most of them didn't pass their course. The other courses were going pretty well, so with this situation I had questioned my interest in university. Should I stay or I should continue? I will make my choice if my studies is going good with no problems.
