It was time for me to apply to colleges after I graduated from high school. I made a major mistake by only applying to one program... I submitted my application for the radiation oncology program. I'm either accepted or rejected.
Choice 1 : I get accepted in the radiation oncology program at Ahuntsic College.
Choice 2 : I get refused in the radiation oncology program at Ahuntsic College.
I'm speechless that I've been accepted into my field of interest! I've officially started adulthood. Radiation oncology is a very demanding and intriguing field that is at the forefront of patient care, technology, and research. It allows you to make a significant difference in the lives of cancer patients while working with a unique, highly complex, and ever-evolving therapy method. I'll learn how to deliver external beam therapy using linear accelerators or cobalt machines. This type of therapy is very effective in the fight against cancer. Radiation therapy kills cancer cells' development by destroying their DNA at high dosages. I'm excited to start. Considering my college is two hours away, I have a lot to do to be ready for the semester. I have to look for an apartment, but I also want to spend the rest of my summer with my closest friends and worry about school later.
Choice 1 : I should prepare for school.
Choice 2 : I enjoy the rest of my summer with my friends.
Choice 3 : I should find an apartment.
This was the scariest thing that coulee ever happened. I knew my grades weren't that great. Now, I must make a choice. Either I apply to my second favourite program at Dawson College, take gap year or drop out of school.
Choice 1 : I apply for the respiratory therapy program at Dawson College.
Choice 2 : I take a gap year.
Choice 3 : I drop out of school, and work full-time.
I decided to put my worries of not succeeding aside to concentrate on my schoolwork. I really need to learn time management, and to be organized or else I don't think I'll be able to pull this college life off. I have always had straight A's, in high school and even primary school, though this semester will be rough, I won't be pulling off, if I don't change my mindset. I have a procrastination habit that is maddening, but there are always thoughtful teachers that are willing to help me. It is important for me to be thorough in my studies and the content will not be grasped with only a cursory understanding.
Choice 1 :
Knowing that I got accepted in my dream program, I officially won't be seeing my friends as often as I do now, because I will be going to a college that is two hours away. I have to be with my friends as much as possible until I move out. Or else, I will miss them like crazy.
Choice 1 :
I believe I will like the program because I enjoy making a difference in people's lives, and working in the medical field allows me to do so. People with chronic respiratory disorders such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema are helped by respiratory therapists. People who have had heart problems or sleep difficulties, as well as premature infants, may require respiratory therapy to help them breathe more freely. The demand for respiratory therapists is high. Respiratory therapists also operate in a variety of settings, including hospitals, intensive care units, emergency departments, paediatric units, operating rooms, patients' homes, sleep laboratories, nursing facilities, and pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and physician's offices.
Choice 1 :
I'm not pleased with the fact that I've been rejected. In order to improve, I'd want to dedicate some time to myself. I don't even know what I want to do in the future at this point, so I have to think about it and explore different things. Going to school and attending courses I may or may not need will not help.
Choice 1 :
I could go back to my old workplace, and work full-time. My friend employed me at her company as a secretary, which was a lucky coincidence for me. However, there was a lot of drama. I was never the best at handling office politics. I was always getting sucked up in my co-workers' businesses. For example, there were two employees that fought more often than not. They undermined each other all the time when it came to withholding necessary information from each other. It was not hard to get sucked up in the drama. As a result, our boss withheld our payments until we had completed the work. Withholding my payment was not the worst part; the noise was hindering my concentration due to my coworkers constantly arguing. I wanted to give them advice but that will undermine their feelings of being adults, and I did not want to get sucked up in their argument all over again. I’d rather withhold this information. They can not hinder me in my work. Because if they ever hindered me in my work, I would be undermining the confidence and competence I have to do my job.
Choice 1 : I'll end up depressed.
I'll be moving out my parents house, and getting my own place. I'll be moving the big city of Montreal. Montreal is expensive. I'll have to start looking for an apartment as of now or else it'll be too late.
Choice 1 : Apply at the Ahuntsic College residence.
I didn't end up finding an apartment in time. Now, I have no choice but to apply to the school housing. It can be pricey, but it's my only option.
Choice 1 :
Working at the same, dull job would not make me happy; on the contrary, it will make me miserable. Especially because I didn't choose this career path. I was simply fortunate to be hired.
Choice 1 :
