My career path

It all started like this.

I was in Grade eleven (Secondary 5) at Henri-Bourassa high school, and I had to choose my career path. I had two options:

Choice 1 : Have a dead-end job

Choice 2 : Go to Cegep

I did not want to go to school anymore because it did not interest me anymore. I wanted to make money, that's why I wanted to get a dead-end job. I had to choose between theses two jobs:

Choice 1 : Work at the pharmacy

Choice 2 : Work at iSaute

I wanted to study in Cegep, but I did not know if I wanted to go to Montmorency College or College Ahuntsic.

I found in the application "Indeed" a job to become a technician in the pharmacy laboratory of the Pharmaprix near my house. They were looking for someone who could work full time, and they proposed two choices for this job:

Choice 1 : Be on a job training

Choice 2 : No formation

The pharmacy of Pharmaprix proposed to all the applicants to make a formation for twelve months to have a better salary which is $7 more than a minimum wages. I could do the formation to become a real assistant technician, but I was still hesitating between those two options:

I also found on "Indeed" a job to be a cashier and a manager at the trampoline center iSaute close my house. They were looking for people who could work full time and had experiences. I did not know if I wanted to be a manager or a cashier.

I decided to work at iSaute as a cashier, my coworkers were really kind and helpful. I had to do a formation of ten hours to understand how the trampoline centre works. Unfortunately, I was working minimum wage which was not really a good job for the long runs. That's why I had to reduce all of my expanses and deprive myself of what I wanted, or you start again my story.

I was chosen to become a manager at iSaute, I had a lot of responsibilities, for example, I had to make the schedule for employees and make sure everything was under control. This decision to become the manager at iSaute involved two choices:

I wanted to study in the program of Accounting and Management at Ahuntsic College. I always liked this field of study, and I found it really interesting. If I went to Ahuntsic College in this program, it would be a three years program which allowed me to start working as soon as I finished. I could also work in my field and do a bachelor at the university of my choice.

I chose to start working right after I got my diploma of Accounting and Management from Ahuntsic College. I was working in an accounting office as an accountant technician. The office proposed me two options:

I chose to continue my studies at Concordia University to become a chartered professional accountant. After getting my diploma at University I could get my dream job or start my own business in the field of accounting.

I got my dream job which was to become a tax expert in the field of accounting. My average salary was $95,000 per year. I could retire rich, or you can start again my story.

When I started working, the Human Resource department told me that I could contribute for my retirement earlier than I had planned.I always told myself that I did not want to work until I was 65 years old. I wanted to retire as soon as possible, so I went to the bank and talked to them. They told me that I could open a TFSA account with them, so I could put my money aside for my retirement. I thought it’s a great idea. They government could also contribute to my pension. I worked my whole life, now it's time to retire, I have to choose between theses two options:

I wanted to study in the program of Physiotherapy Technology at Montmorency College. I always liked the field of health care, and I also wanted to work with professional athletes. This field was a three-year program, I could go to university to continue my studies in this field and also have an internship, or I could start to work with my college diploma.

I chose to start working in a clinic specializing in physiotherapy as a physiotherapy technician.

I chose to have an internship in a clinic as a physiotherapist technician. My internship lasted five months, and I was paid for everything I was doing. After my internship, I would be able to start working in this clinic.

I didn't make the right choices, now I don't have any money or house. I'm broke and unhappy. I have absolutely nothing, and I feel lonely, because nobody wants to be with me, even my friends and my family don't want to talk to me anymore. I wish I could have taken better decisions in the past.

I am 65 years old, I have to retire. I'm not rich, but I'm not broke either. I can live my retirement, for example, I can eat and go out, but I can't travel, buy properties, or a new car. I have to reduce all of my expenses.
