Studying at the Ahuntsic College.

I started studying at Ahuntsic College when I was 17 years old. I had to complete no less than 3 years in the Police Technology program. If I wanted to succeed in this program, I had to be disciplined to stand out from the crowd. I had to pull of some good grades in the different courses I had. I had a great background because I succeeded very well at school before I came into the Ahuntsic College. There were a lot of choices that I had to make before reaching my goal of being in the police.

Choice 1 : Do my Homework.

Choice 2 : Go to the Gym.

Choice 3 : Play Video Games.

Do my Homework.

During the semesters, I had to do time management to complete all the tasks related to the courses I followed in the Police Technology program. One day, there was a project called "Research about the organization you want to work for in the future", and there were also a lot of exams in the same weeks. I wanted to get straight A's in all of those exams, so I had to manage my tasks to be able to complete them with enough time. This particular situation allowed me to take responsibility. I got above 90 in all the exams, and it was at this moment I knew that homework were important to succeed. It was a though situation because there were numerous things to do, but I understood that the effort was important after I got the grades.

One of my friends' came to me, and asked if I wanted to go to the gym with him because we were supposed to be in a good shape for the Police Technology program. I accepted, and we immediately started to search for a gym close to both of our houses. At the beginning, it was very nice, and it helped us to perform better in the physical tests than when we weren't going to the gym. After 2 weeks, it started to hinder me. We were going to the gym 4 times a week, so it gave us not enough time to complete all the tasks related to the courses we followed at Ahuntsic College.

Play Video Games.

I always loved to play video games even if there were more important things to do. When I play, I get sucked up into the game. I started to play more and more, and I put aside the homework that were supposed to be done. After no more than 2 weeks, my grades went down faster than I thought. They went from above 85 to 65 in all the courses I followed. I put most of my energy into the video games that gave me no more than just fun for short periods. I saw the consequences of playing too much, but I didn't know if I wanted to change that situation or continue playing video games like I was doing.

Choice 2 : Don't Give a Damn about my Homework.

Not Going to the Gym.

I decided not to go to the gym because I wanted to put all my time on the things we were doing at school. My grades were pretty good except in the physical courses like swimming or defense techniques. It was certain that I had a lack of physicals' training. I was above the average grade in the courses that recommended no physical tasks, but I had a lot of disadvantages when there were. I wasn't strong enough to pull off some good grades, and I couldn't stand out from the crowd. If I stayed in that situation, I wouldn't be prepared for passing the tests at the ENPQ.

Manage my Time.

I decided to call my friend, and I told him that I thought it was a good idea if we could go to the gym just twice a week, so we could stay in a good shape while having enough time to do our homework. At the beginning, my friend didn't want to because he liked to train often, so I decided to follow my plan while my friend kept going 4 times a week. I immediately saw the difference because my grades were more than good in all the courses I was doing. Not long after that call, my friend started to have trouble keeping up with the pace of the class. His grades were going down, and he started to feel tired. So, I told him to do the same thing as me. We were doing all our stuff together, and we went to the gym more often when there were moments that we could. We had the best grades in our group, and we did all of our semesters without difficulty.

Don't Give a Damn about my Homework.

Throughout the semester, my grades were going down because I put no effort on the things I was supposed to learn. There was a pile of homework on my desk, and I wasn't giving much attention to this situation. Even if my teachers told me to change my behavior if I wanted to stay in the Police Technology program, I kept playing every day because I couldn't stop. So, at one point, my grades were too low. It was sure that I couldn't pass the courses, so I had to restart them the next semester. My motivation started to fall down, and I started to wonder if I was going to continue studying in this program because it was a lot of pressure. I finally decided to drop out of the Police Technology program because I wanted to play video games more often. I didn't know if I wanted to start a career playing all sorts of games, but I just wanted to put most of my time on that universe.

Continue to Ignore my Physical Condition.

I put my physical condition on the side in order to pull off the best grades in the courses that didn't recommend being strong. I had a lot of disadvantages in the courses like swimming and defense techniques because I couldn't perform as I could if I was training. It was though, and I couldn't perform like others. I could easily see that I had a lack of aptitude. After I completed my 3 years at Ahuntsic College, I had to do the physical tests to be accepted in the ENPQ. Of course, I didn't pass the tests, and I had to redo them the next year. I lost the motivation, so I decided to search for another program at Ahuntsic College.
