In grade 11, I decided to pursue my dream and enroll in Police Technology. I was 16 years old. I was a little scared, I didn't know what to expect. I knew it was going to be demanding, but I decided to go for it. It's a 3-year program. I started my first year at Ahuntsic College and the workloads required a lot of adaptation on my part. I was starting to lose motivation, so I had to come up with game plans. I had 2 choices.
Choice 1 : Be organized.
Choice 2 : Procrastinate.
One of my options was to keep pushing, think about why everything had started. I had to organize my time, time manage everything I had to do from work, volunteering, studies, workouts and having time to relax. So, I bought myself a calendar. I started making a schedule, and allocating myself some time for each tasks that I had to do in a day or for the week. This technique allowed me to push through the hard times and being able to get straight A's.
Choice 1 : Investment.
Picking the time management option wasn't working even if I tried. I was still procrastinating, didn't know how to manage my time. I always put aside my homework and watched Netflix or hang out with friends. I had really bad grades because I did all my homework and projects last minute. It was a chaotic situation I was sad and depressed all the time. It even happened that I stayed in bed and didn't show up to school because I couldn't see the purpose anymore.
Choice 1 : How I Managed to Get Out of this Bad Phases.
I decided to start investing my time in the community. So, I started volunteering for different causes in Montreal and Laval. At first, I was really skeptical about it, but then it felt really good helping others without getting money for it. I felt like I was here because I really wanted to be present and help the organisation or the people. Volunteering offers a lot of advantages like learning new things, getting experiences in several areas of work, which helps you find what area you would like to work in later, it looks good in a resume, and it's not as stressful as a real job. Moreover, I found a job related to my future field of work that I appreciate enormously. I work as a security guard and enjoy the tasks I have to do. I meet the needs of people, I lead them, I make sure that everyone follows the rules and instructions. It's a job that puts a bit of action in my week.
Choice 1 : An Event that Happened at Work.
I didn't mind what the old man said. I took the phone in front of him, and dialed 911. I explained the whole situation to them, and they came to the scene. The man got scared, and ran off. The police came, and we explained the situation to them. We did not file a complaint, but they told us that if he returned to the center they would come, and take care of the situation.

One day, I sat down on my balcony and thought about my situation. I told myself that it is starting to exceed the limits and that I needed to pull myself up and get it together. I decided to call my childhood friend to try to have some advice and support from her. We went to sit in a cafe and started talking. She made me see the reason why I started. She also made me understand that the more I push right now, the more my effort will pay off in the future. So, I ended up challenging myself to always do better and do the best I can in my upcoming sessions.

I was leading a group of young people at their respective gymnasium when I received an urgent call from the receptionist. She tells me that there is an aggressive man who tries to enter the center without authorization. I move at full speed to enter where the chicane is, and I heard the man screaming, and insulting my colleague. Then, he starts talking to me, and he said, "what are you going to do if I come home?" I look at them, and I told him that we have rules which must be respected at the center, and if you don't want to respect them I will call the police, and they will take care of it.
Choice 1 : Call the police.
Choice 2 : Deal with him myself.
I hope you enjoyed reading my story!

I am normally a very patient person. But this gentleman began to use words unacceptable to everyone present, namely workers, parents, and their children. So, I would like to raise my voice to him telling him to get out of the center. I will begin to approach him by speaking more, and more loudly. He was hitting everyone around him, kicking the desk, and throwing his pencil at me. About 10 minutes he finally left the entrance, and I proceeded to send an e-mail to all the workers at the center that he is a person who no longer has the right to enter the center after the disturbance he caused.

I finished my Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in Police Technology. It was some hard years, but I am extremely happy to have them finished. Now that I am finished, I have to find myself a position in a police station. They're hiring a lot of new cops these days, I am very lucky. So, I have a choice of several police stations. I will give you the choice between 2, either Laval or Montreal.
Choice 1 : Laval.
Choice 2 : Montreal.
So, I applied in Laval. I did the whole process, exams, job interviews, and on-the-job training. After about 4 months of progress, you can finally call me Officer Pia! I started to patrol with my partner. He's kind enough, but sometimes he can be rude to me. We do not feel on everything, nor do we have all the same working methods, but here the adaptation takes place. After 1 month of work in the field, we receive an important call on domestic violence. Me and my partner must part the spots one with the lady one with the men. I took the female, and my partner took the man to the police station. I took care of the woman, and I was happy of the work we did with this couple. I can't wait to live more adventures.
Choice 1 : The End.
I try to apply in a police station in Montreal. They were less looking for new police officers. It was hard to be accepted. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I invite you to go back and read about my time in the Laval police station.
Choice 1 : Laval.
