I studied in science, profile biology and health, at Montmorency College because I loved science. In my second semester, I couldn't make a choice for my career. I felt overwhelmed even though I managed my time well. Under this pressure, two choices were available to me.

Choice 1 : Take a break for a year.

I worked as a cashier in a clothes store near my house. It was the first time that I made money in my life. I have had an OJT. My trainer had a couple of biases. She didn't like young employees, and she was always complaining about low wages. Actually, the bias of trainers is a big drawback for the behaviour of new employees. When I was new in the company, I felt so discriminated against because I didn't have any experience. The disadvantage was that I've learned just one skill and repeat it for 5 hours straight but, at least, it was for a premium wage. This was a dead-end job. So, should I.

I have been accepted, and I was so happy. I have finally made my parents proud of me. The only problem was that I had to move alone and didn't love this career.

I have been accepted. I really liked this domain. I have finally discovered my passion, but the wages for researchers in the domain of neuroscience were low. I had two choices:

This internship was very good to put a foot in the door. I've had on-the-job-training to learn the ropes, and it was very useful. I had the chance to test drive working as a technician in a laboratory. I was helping a professor in his research about the brain's function. The day when I test drove I was very overwhelmed by the tasks that I was in charge of, but I really liked the job. I absolutely wanted to continue studying in the domain of neuroscience.

Live in Quebec City.

While studying in Quebec, I was working in a research laboratory, and I was one of the rare females to work there. I didn't expect any sort of flirtation of sexual harassment in a professional area like this. I couldn't blame all of the male workers but the majority wasn't used to female presence in the field of research. When I started working, I realized that the flirtation that I was having were becoming misconduct. Actually, I was a recipient of sexual harassment. One worker was flirting me every day, that's what caused a dread. I couldn't continue to live in that uncomfortable city. I regretted moving to Quebec City.

My first year.

I still remember the first time that I stood in the front of the class as a professor. It was very exciting but terrifying at the same time. I was overwhelmed by the tasks and responsibilities. For example, I had to do a lot of things such as preparing the lesson before coming to class, creating Power Point slides, printing exercises, correcting exams....etc. Even though being a professor was not easy, I used to love every minute of the class. I really enjoyed sharing interesting discoveries about the human brain, so I didn't felt tired at all. My passion for teaching made me forget all of the bad emotions. I was excited to continue teaching.

Retirement.

I really missed the drive of work, I was never used to that much free time. I was happy to put an end for the daily drudgery of working. My pension wasn't enough to pay all of my bills for a year. Fortunately, I have been putting aside a good amount of money for ten years, so I decided to move to my favourite city: Paris.

I worked for 30 years as a professor. In my last year working as a professor, people were bribing me to tell them the question's exam. Of course, I refused every bribe even when they started to threat me. They were very ingrained. The only solution left for me was to leave the job. All of the threats hurt my mental health. I knew a colleague who witnessed the try of the theft to steal her personal laptop. Fortunately, the person was filmed by a hidden camera. I couldn't stand on corruption. I thought that bribes were rare, but I was absolutely wrong. After this incident, I decided to.

Participate in research about the human brain.

McGill was searching for a neuroscientist to work in a new project that studies the impact of the cellphone blue light on our sleep. I had a call from a doctor who was my professor, he told me if I could work with him. I was very happy, because it was my first time assisting to real research. After six months of hard work, we wrote a scientific article, and it was very popular (my name was in an article for the first time!). I was shocked that a lot of people were interested in the brain's function and its impact on our life. This amazing experience made choosing between teaching and research difficult.

I was working with a lot of professors in the same field, and I made a lot of connections. I loved to work with my colleagues and discuss the experiment. I had to travel to different countries to meet people studying the human brain and to share our results. Traveling was exhausting for me, I didn't have a social circle outside of my job, and adapting to new environments wasn't easy. I preferred to.

I went to the United Kingdom to help in a study for improving sleep. I had to apply everything that I've learnt about the human brain and neurons. I was enjoying this experience until one day, I had a car accident. I didn't sleep that night, and I was overwhelmed. While I was driving after work, the second my eye blinked, my car hit a tree and my head was scratch by the broken glass. When I came out of the car, my head was full of blood. This was the last time that I drove a car.
