Towards the end of high school.

It was almost the end of high school. I had to make a choice of career and apply at the college towards that field of study. I had a lack of jobs that I didn't know what I wanted to do as a job. I always wanted to be a military or a police officer more often than not, so I decided to apply for Police Technology. But no one believed in me they were undermining me, and everyone told me I can never get into that program it is so hard to get in, and I will never achieve it. That got me so frustrated and mad I couldn't believe how no one supported me. I was so angry, but I didn't do a drawback. I said to myself I am going to get straight A's, and to make it no matter what pursue my goals. I had a good purpose and vision.

I went to see my API at high school to ask her how can I apply to study Police Technology. At first, she didn't believe in me too. Because the high school I went to is Georges-Vanier in Montreal city, and it is a bad reputation. Usually, students drop off school or just finish high school and go for a job, or they go towards easy programs. But I didn't get sucked up in. She told me there is no way I can accomplish that, and I will also never get into the program. I told her that I want to be a police officer, and I am going to apply for that no matter what I had a fulfillment, so she told me about the program and the college that I could go for it was Ahuntsic College. It was good for me because I lived near. It was great and one of the best choices for me, and my cousins went there too, so they could've guided me in school. I was young, and in shape and ready to step into my college life.

All these people made me think about myself too, so I thought maybe go to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) or Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Because it's a field related to what I want to be, and they had better wages some even premium wages and a lot of jobs you could even do overtime. I already had a foot in the door, and it has an easier procedure all you need is to complete your high school and do some background checks with their HR to be sure you have a clean case and not misconduct, and you don't need to go to college. You go to the academy as a trainee, and you learn the ropes it's a good internship. You can't really do OJT because you can't have a job without doing all the procedures so there's not really an on-the-job training that could be later when you are officially a police officer. But the only thing that holds me was that I wanted to stay in Montreal near my family. I wasn't ready to move around the country and go to other cities. I wanted to work as a police officer for the SPVM or maybe SQ. So, I knew I had to go to college and complete all of my paths with good grades, and make my way towards the National Police School of Quebec called ENPQ.

So after that, I applied to Ahuntsic College in Police Technology and passed a couple of tests. I received a mail that said I was accepted to the program. It was one of the best feelings. I was proud of myself. I told everyone that didn't believe in me, and they were so angry and jealous that I made it into the program I was the only one that went towards hard programs. I knew I would have a good wage and a good retirement plan, pension and time management and a stable position not a vacant one, so it was worthwhile. Also, it is a job that I like, and want to do.

At first, I was very stressed it was a whole different environment for me though I was ready for it and prepared. I started the program well, and I liked the teamwork that we had as a Police Technology Cohort. I liked us to have some teachers that are criminologists, ex-Police and lawyers they give us some good. They share some of their on-the-job experiences that come in handy it gives us an idea. They arrest criminals and go to court against them to win the case. For example, drug dealers, sexual harassers, thieves, murderers and all other criminals. There is maybe still a little bit of corruption going on, but it is very minimal almost abolished I will say. We wear uniforms to create partnerships to get used to it and to learn to respect the uniform to wear it completely. We have a mission, and it is to assure the safety of the people to protect and serve. I sometimes see myself with a uniform, and badge in a patrol car patrolling and getting emergency calls that I have to go to and deal with the situation there. I am someone who likes to help others especially if there is a problem. I love the adrenaline that I get from unexpected situations. But also, you have to take care of your mental and physical health because it is not easy as it looks it can get very stressful.
