The beginning of a career is a very confusing period for every student especially after high school because you are forced to make a wise choice to know where to start. For me, it was very difficult because I did my high school in Syria and I had to move to Canada after I finished. So, I was very confused not just about my career also about the language. In Syria, I was English educated and when I came to Montreal I had to learn French before I start going to college, so it was very difficult choice to make between the English and the French language. Also, I was confused to choose between a career in accounting or a career in building engineering.
Choice 1 : My first choice was to study in English at Vanier College.
Choice 2 : My second choice was to study in French in college Ahuntsic.
Choice 3 : A career in accounting.
Choice 4 : A career as a lawyer.
My first choice was to study in English at Vanier College because it is my second language, and I studied English in my high school, so it was the easiest choice to make because I can continue from where I left and there is no need to start over and learn a new language. On top of that, English is most spoken language in the world and, you can use it all over the world.
Choice 1 :
My second choice was the difficult one because when I came I didn't know anything about the French language, and it is very difficult for a student to study in a language they don't understand. But on the other hand, it is very important to speak French in Montreal because if you don't you won't be able to find a job after you graduate and, it is known that the first thing you should do when you move to another country is to learn their language, so you can merge the people. In the end, I chose to study in French in college Ahuntsic because I will gain a third language, and it will be easier for me to find work.
Choice 1 :
My first career choice was accounting because I would like to become a CPA in the future it is a job that I would like to do because I love working with numbers, prepare tax returns for businesses and individuals, prepare and process monthly payrolls, audit and analyse services for businesses, organize and maintain financial records to ensure that statements comply with laws and regulations and also suggest ways to reduce costs by monitoring spending and analysing the budget to improve the profits for the company. So, accounting for me is not the just a regular job because it is not a dead end job, it is a job where you can always improve yourself in the future.
Choice 1 :
Being a lawyer was my second career option because it is a job with a very big future, and you make a very big difference in people life when you get the chance to help them while you are respecting the law. This choice was more difficult than the first choice because studying Accounting is much easier and flexible than studying the law for many different reasons the most important one for my situation was the language , and to become a lawyer you need much more years to study. So, that is why it was a difficult choice for me, and I had to choose a career Accounting because it seemed more rational and suitable for me.
