Ultrasound technologist.

My second year as a student in my field of study.

I have been studying at Ahuntsic College at ultrasound technology for almost two years now. Next year, I am going to start the experience as an internship and that is something that is scaring me a lot. I often wanted to give up because I was really hard to study every day and not having a break in the week for myself. At the end of the day, I always had my mom that supported me, and she is the reason that I kept working hard to study in my field of study. Nevertheless, being a student in school is not the same thing as being a student that studies in a hospital when they are on the job training. So, I have to think if I still want to become an Ultrasound technologist or change my field of study to something less stressful.

Choice 1 : I should continue studying in my field of study.

Choice 2 : I should change my field of study to something else.

College Ahuntsic

I should continue studying in my field of study.

To keep studying in Ultrasound technology was my first choice from the beginning. The problem now is that I still don not know where I want to work when I graduate. I do not know what environment neither the hospital nor a private clinic will keep me away from a lack of fulfillment. I now that my mom wants me to be in a place of work where I feel the more like myself and where people help you to learn the ropes when you are a knew worker because that comes in handy when you are knew, and it is your first days' of work. I want to work somewhere people are nice and makes you feel like you are at home while working, and I do not want to work where people keep gossiping about others or about you.

Choice 1 : I should work in a hospital.

Choice 2 : I should work in a private medical clinic.

Medical environment

I should work in a hospital.

After I graduated, I started to work in a hospital because I was the best option for me to become a better person. I think that being able to work with different people every day helped me to become less shy and be a better person that helps people to find what is going on inside their body. Also, working in a hospital helped me communicate better with people that I was not used to see daily. One of the disadvantages of working in a hospital is that the salary does not increase as fast as in private clinics. One time, even the workers went on strike in order to get a pay rise. That day, even the police had to stop the strike because it was getting too dangerous for the people around.

Choice 1 : End of the story.

Hospital

I should work in a private medical clinic.

Working in a clinic was a good option for me after getting my diploma to become less shy since I am not going to see patients regularly as in a hospital. Working in a private clinic helped me to learn the ropes slowly and gain some practice before going to a big hospital where I think the work is rushed. Also, I asked the director of the private clinic where I work if there was a way that I could do something to prove myself to obtain a higher position. His answer was yes but, I had to work for a number of hours and that there was a possibility that I had to work overtime.

Choice 1 : End of the story.

Clinic

I should change my field of study to something else.

I think the best option for me is not to become an Ultrasound technologist. Since I was little, I always dreamed to become a veterinarian but what kept me to not chose that path was the fact that I have to go to the University which is not easy. That means that I will have to study every day as I am doing now with my technique, but it is going to be harder since becoming a veterinarian means to become a doctor. In the other side, I could study less by doing a vocational degree and still earning money with a job that I like, but I have to find the perfect one that will bring joy to my life. I still do not know what to do and which option is the best for me to live a happy life for the rest of my life.

Choice 1 : Become a veterinarian.

Choice 2 : Doing a vocational degree.

Become a veterinarian.

By becoming a veterinarian, I could work every time with animals and that kind of work could easily bring me fulfillment in my life. In addition, I could also earn a lot of money to keep stability in my life and never have to worry about debts or problems due to the lack of money. I could be doing a job that I really love while learning a lot of money but one of the disadvantages is that I am going to have to go to school for a long time before being able to become a veterinarian.

Choice 1 : End of the story.

Veterinarian.

Doing a vocational degree.

By doing a vocational degree, I could study for just a few months or a year and a half. The advantages of doing these kinds of studies are that the time of study is reduced by a lot, and you can do a job that could improve your technical aptitudes. The disadvantages are that the income is not as high as a technique and more often than not, while learning the ropes of the job while you are on the job training, you do not get an income. It is like working to get more practice, and you are doing the job as the ones who get paid, but you are not receiving money for your job.

Choice 1 : End of the story.

Vocational degree.
