Hello, my name is Bob Baker. I am 22 years old and a police officer on my first week of service. Today I will tell you all about the worst day of my life. Indeed, we all have bad days in life, but I don’t think you will be able to compare to mine. It all started on November 5th my first day at work. The previous day, I had to set my alarm for my training at 7:45 a.m. Should I set my alarm at 6 a.m. or at 6:30 a.m. to get the maximum sleep?
Choice 1 : 6:00 A.M.
Choice 2 : 6:30 A.M.

I got out of my bed at 6 a.m. not to be late for my training, kissed my wife goodbye, ate a bunch of toasts and went to work. Everything seemed good at that point, the weather was cozy for a winter day, no clouds, and I slept well. Everything was good… too good. I walked up to my car just to realise I left a light open inside the car all night long. I got in my car and crossed my fingers for my car to start because I didn’t want to be late on my first day. I inserted the keys in the ignition, pressed on the break and turned it half a turn clockwise. Nothing. Not even a little rumble from the engine. I couldn’t believe this would happen, at least not today. I went back inside the house, took my wife’s keys and left with her car instead. I checked my watch and read 6:57 a.m. I was a bit less anxious because my shift starts at 7:45 and the car ride takes only 20 minutes. On the ride to the police station, I heard a big noise coming from the back of my car. I pressed the hazard button in my car, stopped to the side of the road and got out of my car just to realise one of my tires blew up. My heart dropped. I couldn’t believe how unlucky I was. I called my dad while crying because of how anxious I was. He came over with my mom to take care everything and gave me a lift to the station. I arrived at 7:42. I ran inside to go meet my boss. Once in his office, I had to take a moment to take my breath because of how exhausted I was from running. My boss, who was sitting at his desk, looked up to me, gave me a weird look and asked me why I was there so early, my training only starts at 8:45. I couldn’t believe what I just heard. I started laughing so hard. My stress went down and told him everything. My boss asked me who I wanted to work with between Steve and Roger. Who should I pick?
Choice 1 : Steve.
Choice 2 : Roger.

At 8:45, my shift finally started. I was matched with an old guy called Steve. Steve is going to retire soon. He couldn’t stop talking about how important it is to prepare our retirement young and that he should’ve started putting his money aside earlier. He also asked me how my interview was and what do I think about the on-the-job training. My interview was hard, but I was really well-prepared. Being a police officer was a dream for me, so I gave it my best. Also, in my opinion, you learn the most about the job with the on-the-job training. We talked about our previous dead-end job and how lucky we were to be a police officer. He also warned me about the toxic job environment. Indeed, he told me not to create any drama inside the police station because it can become toxic quick. I also told him about an internship I did a while back in a police force. He was impressed! Steve showed me everything I needed to know during the day. He transferred all his knowledge to me. Later on, that day, he asked me if I wanted to drive. I happily accepted. I was living my dream. I felt so happy. It was very difficult to pay attention to everything while driving, but I think I handled it well. While driving, I was a red car go through a red lights and did my first every traffic stop. Should I give him a ticket or no?
Choice 1 : No ticket.
Choice 2 : Give a ticket.
Roger was supposed to come at 8:45, but called in sick last minute. Meet Steve!
Choice 1 : Steve.
During my first ever traffic stop for running a red light, I only gave a warning to the nice woman. She took off, and I was happy with my intervention. The rest of the day was very calm. I ended my shift at 5 p.m. and went home. This was the story of my first day at work, and I hope that you enjoyed it.

During my first ever traffic stop for running a red light, I gave by accident a ticket triple the price I was supposed to give. Steve and I noticed too late because once printed, we cannot erase it. Steve was so mad. I felt so bad, and I didn’t want him to think I was incompetent. We later laugh it off, but I surely will remember this mistake. The rest of the day was very calm. I ended my shift at 5 p.m. and went home. This was the story of my first day at work, and I hope that you enjoyed it.
