After my graduation in Special Care Counselling, I had the choice to go to university to pursue my study or to start working has a social worker.

Choice 1 : Go to university.

Where should I go?

Finally, I will go to university, but I have to choose where I will go. I have the choice to go to Sherbrooke University, they have 1 of the best Education Programme or to go to Laval University, it's a big university in the middle of Quebec City.

Choice 1 : Go to Sherbrooke University.

Where should I work?

In my job there are many types of case that I could choose to work with. I saw a job advert in a psychiatric department at the hospital. I also saw one in middle school, and in a CHSLD.

Sherbrooke University.

I thought about my choice all week, and I think it's not what I really want, it's too far from home. I will miss my friend and my family too much, I'm not ready to go as far as Sherbrooke.

I'm excited to go to Laval University. Now, it's time to choose in which program I will send my application. I hesitate in Education with kids or in Psycho Education.

Psychiatric department at the hospital.

I've done my test drive in the psychiatric department in the hospital. I've seen things that shocked me. I thought about my decision all day long, and I've made a choice. Tomorrow, I will go see my boss to tell him that it's not a job for me. Because I know that I'm not going to handle that type of job for a long time.

Last week, I've applied on a job to work in a middle school, and I had the job. I'm starting tomorrow. I don't know what should I wear.

Hired in a CHSLD.

I've been hired in a CHSLD. But my phone rang in the same day, it was a private school asking me to work for them because they really need a social worker. They offered me a really good wage. I have to choose if I start at the school because it gives me a higher budget to invest in a house or to work in the CHSLD try something new.

Choice 2 : Work for the CHSLD.

I've sent my application in education.

I was waiting for my answer to my application in education, when I received the email I went to see my parents to read it with them. The email I received was written: We are glad to tell you that your candidacy has been retain for autumn 2022. When I read the email out loud, I was so happy that I wasn't able to finish reading it to my parents. The next decision I need to do is to continue to live with my parents or to go in an apartment with 2 of friend.

Choice 2 : Live in an apartment with 2 friends.

Waiting for my answer.

The email I received was written: We are sorry to tell you that your candidacy has not been retain. I was so sad when I read the email, but after a moment I realized it wasn't my first choice, other possibilities could be better.

Living with my parents.

It's enough for me, the traffic infuriates me. I really like to live with my parents, but I don't like to do 45 minutes every day to go to school. It was a bad choice to stay with my parents.

Living with my 2 friends.

Since the begging of the semester, I've been living with two of my friends for 5 days par week. It goes really well, we have the same type of routine. They are also studying in Education, we do most of are work together it helps us to understand easily. Next month, we have our first internship in a primary school. We have to choose which group of age do we want a start with? The choice are 6-7 years old or 10-11 years old.

Wearing a dress for the first day!

I thought it was a great idea to wear a dress, I thought I would look good for my first day. But I didn't think it would turn like this. After lunch break, a teacher came by me, and whispered " I like dress, it's easy to go under! " I didn't like that comment I don't know if I should go see the human resources to report that misconduct.

My day went great my clothes didn't change anything. I was just comfortable for my first day! I will wear that outfit again for another day!

I felt in love with the job, the wage wasn't the things anymore that kept me doing. I will keep doing that job until I need changes.

Working for the CHSLD.

Two months later, I realized that I regretted my choice of working in the CHSLD instead of a private school. The type of case in the CHSLD wasn't my favorite. I will look for something new in the next weeks.

Talking with the HR.

In the same week has the first comment I went to see the HR, to tell them what happen. They immediately act of that situation by the firing that teacher. They were there for me, and they help me find a better work conditions.

Ignore the situation.

I decided to ignore the situation, but it wasn't a great idea because the teacher continued to tell me comments every day. I gave my resignation to my boss 2 weeks later.

First internship in a group of 6-7 years old.

I've learned so many things in a concrete way in my internship I really like these group of age. This experience made me realise that I'm studying in the right programs.

I've realized that, the group of this age is not my favorite, I prefer to be with younger children. But the internship helps me to learn the ropes and to know that I like the teacher's job.
