The first internship.

It’s your third semester in Special Care Counselling and you need to do an internship. You’re really don’t know with witch customer you want to do it. At the last second you choose to do it with?

Choice 1 : Day-care.

Choice 2 : Nursing home.

Day-care.

You choose to do your internship in a day-care. It’s normal, you always love kids. After, three weeks you have developed a strong connection with one of the kids in your group. One day, you realise that he seem sad, and he plays alone. You ask him if you can play with him. He said yes. Now he wants to play with?

Choice 2 : You choose to do a drawing.

You play Barbie with this sweet little boy. You play together for 10 minutes. At some point, the boy gave you a doll. He said: she’s mad. You ask: what does she do when she’s mad? The boy respond, " when she’s mad, she punches everyone." At this moment, you ask him, " who else throw punch when they’re mad? " He answered, " when dad is mad he punches my mother, my brother and I. " What do you do?

The child protection comes to see you and ask about the situation. You explain to someone everything that happen. The child protection told you that it’s not the first time that they heard about this family and at this point they need to put the kids into foster care. You and your boyfriend are a foster family. Do you offer to take the kids?

The lady seems relief about your offer. You know the children, and you have a good relationship with them. You tell the kid that they are gonna spend the night at your house they are really excited. It’s been 5 years that this happened, and you are now in the process to adopt them.

You sat beside the kid and both starts your drawing. During all the activity you speak with the child, and he seems very happy to draw. At a moment you look at the drawing that he’s doing, and you realise that he is very talented. You ask him if you can have is drawing because you think it’s really pretty. He said yes and give it to you. After, the long day at work you go see one of your best friends. She’s a prestigious art school director. You show her the drawing. What’s her reaction?

Choice 2 : She doesn’t care.

You confront the dad.

At four o’clock you are burning with rage. You know exactly what you are going to tell to the dad kids. You have practice during your break, and you are ready. You play with the kid, and you see the dad at the door. What do you do?

When, you see the dad you froze! Everything you have practice is now gone. You look at the dad, and he asks how was the day. You answer him that his kid has a great day, and that he’s a very special kid. The day is now over. You fell bad about freezing but convince yourself that the nex time that the kid is gonna say thing like that to you you’re going confront his dad.

You think about propose yourself, but you don’t want to do it. You didn’t ask your boyfriend, and you didn’t want him to get mad at you for taking kid without asking him first. You see the kid crying when he learns that he need to go into foster care. You feel bad about it. You feel that it’s your fault. He knows you. You feel like you should have proposed yourself.

When you see the dad you ask him if you can speak with him in private. He doesn’t mind, and you both go in the corridor. At this moment you exploded. You tell him that you know everything and that he’s a piece of garbage for doing this. When you have finish you see your boss at the end of the corridor! She asks you to come see her. She fires you because you can’t speak to parent like that even when they beat their child.

She’s in complete shock.

Your friend is in complete shock about the kid talent. She can’t believe that he’s this good for is age. She tells you that she’s already doing overtime this week, but she really wants to meet the kid parent to speak to them about the gift that their child have.

The next day, when you see the kid mom you tell her everything your friend tell you. You gave her the business card. She’s really happy about it. The next day you learn that the kid is now receiving special courses by your friend.

When you go show her the drawing she looks at you like you have three head! She asks you what’s special about this drawing. You can believe what you hear. You see so much potential in this kid. You don’t understand how she cannot see it. You tell yourself that she just have been having a bad day. You still see an extreme potential with this kid.

When you see the mom the next morning you tell her your opinion! You tell her that her kid is really talented and that he should go take special course for is gift.

Nursing home.

You choose to go do your internship in a nursing home. You know that you want to go work thereafter your studies, so you will already have a foot one the door. You will be able to learn the ropes and not be overwhelmed in the future. At your first day, you meet the HR crew. They ask you about your qualification, and they tell you that you’re going to go work with Bob. You are not really sure to go because you know that he has been accused of sexual harassment.

Choice 1 : You tell the HR crew that you’re not comfortable working with him.

Choice 2 : You accept.

When they ask you to work with him, you tell them that you are really not comfortable to work with him. You explain that he have a bad reputation, and you don’t want him to misconduct with you. You ask them if they can find another person to help you learn the ropes. They are really not happy about it, and they tell you that you judge him without even knowing him. They decide to fire you.

You accept.

Even if you know that this guy has a bad reputation, you decide to say nothing. You tell yourself that we must not be this bad. When you meet him, you see all the red flags. He looks at you like you’re a piece of meat. After the first day you really feel bad, and you go to tell the HR team about your day.

When you go see Louise from the HR, you start to cry like a baby. You explain to her what he did with you and how you feel bad about your day. She knows Bob reputation.

Choice 1 : She proposes to you to change your partner.

Louise is really comprehensive about the situation. She doesn’t want you to go. She offers to change your partner. You are really relieved. It’s now the end of your internship, and you really like all that you learn.
