My career as an author

Start at the beginning.

It all started when I was studying at Édouard-Montpetit college in the Literature program in 2015. I was seventeen. I never expected my parkour to be like it happened. I'm now twenty-three and when I think about how I dealt with my courses that were not the best display I could have done. I had been diagnosed with major depression and I had to drop my program because I was not able anymore to do my school things and concentrate in my classes. I was completely out of my mind, and I was drawing and not listening to what my teachers were saying. I was totally disconnected from reality. So, I decided to do something significant. Took a break and just left the place to go somewhere else in the world.

Volunteering abroad.

I had been volunteering abroad for a very long time before I could really choose what I wanted to do with my work life. For sure, that was not the most paying job because there was just no premium wage at all. I was financially in a hole but it filled my broken heart with a purpose. It was any less than a salary but so much more gratifying than you ever could imagine and the main purpose was not to do money, anyway. My main purpose was to heal the void and the suffering that was running through my body and ached me. At first, I was skeptical about doing it because there were so many people who were just not down to give themselves as volunteers far away. I think that I did it for a choice because I didn't want to do it like others. I wanted to embrace my marginal side. Yes, I am in-depth for the moment but it was worth it. It gave me a lot of experiences where I had to learn to be on my own and worked my head toward exciting goals. It was like therapy because I had to help people with choosing books that were suiting them. I was working in a library in Egypt. It was invaluable how there were so many advantages to give myself to the community. At the same time, I was running out of resources because I was so limited in the language's perspective. I met incredible people and learn a little bit of Arabic. I did get an opportunity, later, that was very challenging and it was even not in another country. It was with my own people. Oh, foolish humans!

Internship.

I did finish my pre-university degree when I returned from Egypt. So, I got an internship where I got to learn the ropes of book editions. It settled me as an intern where I could put a foot in the door and learned the ropes of what is going to be my future job as a writer and how to practically applied steps of doing a book. Sometimes, I would come in handy in the workplace because I was very good with what I was doing. Internships can be great for those who do not want to be overwhelmed with the labor market as they don't have any clue of what could happen when they lacked experience if they were not interns for a company. I was watched! Learning the ropes while I was test drive was very stressful and exciting. Now, I am not overwhelmed as easily as I was when I was a test drove. It comes in handy when you now have the skills to manage work with confidence. I had no idea of what I wanted to do with my future until I decided to keep working as an intern. I swam in an interesting ocean of possibilities. The challenges that I had over the years were, in the long term, satisfying for my personal growth. My depression got me to travel therapy with me volunteering overseas and my internship as an editor's assistant opened a path where I could go forward and learn about myself. I was properly good, so I've got a proposition from my boss that if my plan was to go finished a related bachelor to the field such as journalism, creative writing, communication, that she was ready to open a position for me when I am being soon finished my studies.

Office politics.

At last, I accepted the work's proposition and take the job as a new official employee. My bachelor's degree was not easy to finish since I was in a hurry to get a real job. It took me a lot of patience, before I could obtain the certitude of my school's success. Unfortunately, I was brand-new to the environment. I mean, I went at this place a couple of years ago, but that was not what I was thinking it would be, honestly. I faced people's jealousy and continuous misunderstandings. I was near of dropping the job. Instead, I did talk to my colleagues, calmly, and go to my boss to clear some unjustified drama. More often than not, I had been undermined by many colleagues at work. I got sucked up in what we properly named office politics. Undermining someone because you lacked integrity and confidence about your own work was very diminishing for me and anyone else who had been a victim of withholding capital pieces of information. I did undermine someone one time and it was not very fun, after all. I wanted to have replied from attacks. I get sucked up again by hindering others. I hindered someone because I wanted to defend myself as much as other colleagues left me out and stepped on me at work. I withheld what I assumed was not that important for another employee. Withhold was not fair at all. I judged it by experiencing it. I hated office politics to a point where I crossed a point of no return. I managed the awful thing and ignored what goes on behind my back. I focused on my main work and participated a lot in the office. I'm proud of myself, because I could really have had lost my job over some childish wanderings of supposed adults and I did get implicated despite myself.
