The day after my graduation.

It was November 2017. I had just graduated from high school in my hometown, in Brazil and now I had to decide what to do with my life. My parents gave me the chance to go to Canada if I wanted to.

Choice 1 : Stay in Brazil.

Choice 2 : Go to Canada.

Stay in Brazil.

I decided to stay in Brazil. I wasn't really sure if I made the right decision, but I wasn't ready to give it all up for an uncertain future in Canada. Consequently, now I was facing two new choices: applying for university to study in no matter what field or work to spear some money.

Choice 1 : Apply to Brazilian University in the easiest field.

Choice 2 : Get a minimal wage job.

Go to Canada.

After my parents advice, I decided to give it all up in Brazil and go live in Canada. My parents and I decided I would firstly stay 6 months studying a language and after that, I would see where life would guide me. After doing some research I had two options: go to Montreal to learn French or go to Vancouver to practice my English.

Choice 1 : Go to Vancouver.

Choice 2 : Go to Montreal.

Go to Montreal.

Montreal, the Europe of Canada, at least that was what they told me. I fell in love with this city. After my French program was over, I couldn't legally stay in Quebec for long. So, I had to figure a plan out to stay there. I started talking with the Brazilian friends I made and most of them told me I could study to get the permanent residency. Again, I would have to make an important decision, I could get in a DEC program or in a DEP program.

Choice 1 : Go to LaSalle for a DEP.

Choice 2 : Go to Maisonneuve for a DEC.

Go to Vancouver.

I went to Vancouver. I decided that I didn't have to learn another language for that moment and everyone told me that French was too hard and that Quebec was too weird. So, I travelled all across America to arrive in the rainiest spot of Canada. It was not as I planned back in Vancouver. Then, after spending 2 miserable months in Vancouver I decided that British Columbia was not my place.

Choice 1 : Go to Montreal.

Choice 2 : Stay in Vancouver.

Apply to Brazilian University in the easiest field.

As I was very late in University applications and I didn't know what I really wanted to do, I decided to apply to the easiest one I could get in. I end up in computer science program at a countryside faculty. At the beginning, I kind of liked it but as the semester was passing trough I started hating it more and more. I quit university after 1 semester and got a job a minimal wage job at Shopping mall. I became a sad person, and I hated the life I had. I could stay that way and accept a sad future or I could pursue my Canada dream, now that I had nothing behind to lead me off.

Choice 1 : Go to Canada.

Choice 2 : Forgive my boyfriend and keep the ordinary life I had.

Go to LaSalle for a DEP.

LaSalle offered a Cook program that would allow me to get my PR sooner than with a DEC program. I finally graduated after 2 tough years. My teacher had a restaurant with some vacant positions, and he offered me a job as his restaurant assistant due to my good grades. Yet I thought he had a crush on me. Now, it was time, again, to make an important decision.

Choice 1 : Accept my teacher's offer.

Get a minimal wage job.

As I wasn't sure of what I would like to study, I decided to get a minimal wage to spear me some money. However, life became a mess. I hated my job and I recently found out that my boyfriend, one of the reasons I stood in Brazil has cheated on me. My soul was crushed. He apologized and asked for me to forgive him. At the same time, my parents gave me the advice to go to Canada, now that I hadn't anything else to lose.

Choice 1 : Go live in Canada.

Choice 2 : Forgive my boyfriend and keep the ordinary life I had.

Go to Maisonneuve for a DEC.

It was on summer 2019 when I decided to apply to a DEC at a public CEGP. So, I wasn't really exited about a specific program because I was only deciding to study to be able to stay in Montreal. Therefore, I had still to choose between multiple programs and CEGPS. It was a hot summer day when I was riding to the Olympic Stadium and I passed trough Maisonneuve College. I found it absolutely beautiful and as soon as I got home I decided that would be the one. I still had to decide which program I would apply to. Between my options I had Social Science and Business.

Choice 1 : Business.program.

Choice 2 : Social Science program.

Stay in Vancouver.

I stood in Vancouver for the next 4 months. After 6 months, I missed Brazil so much and I didn't even consider staying there. I went back to Brazil and decided to apply to International Business School. Vancouver taught me some good things but it was deftly not my place to live.

Choice 1 : try again

Accept the life I had.

So, I decided to face facts: I didn't go to Canada when I had the chance so now I would just face that miserable life. I stood working for a dead-end job for the next 40 years until I retired. I spent all those years wondering how life could have been if I had just made one different choice.

Forgive my boyfriend and keep the ordinary life I had.

I loved him so much that I forgave it all. My life was ordinary but at least I had someone by my side (sort of). Stupid decision. He cheated on me again and got another girl pregnant. My parents basically forced me to go to Montreal to start a new life.

Choice 1 : Go to Montreal.

Choice 2 : try again

Social Science program.

The Social Science program was an interesting program. However, after the first session I found out that I had to accomplish a 3 years course to apply for the Federal residency. So, I decided that maybe Technical Business could be a good option.

Choice 1 : Business program.

Business program.

I was faced to a 3 years program that I knew nothing about. In that way, I didn't have many expectations for it. The lack of expectations made my perception of business rise up. I loved my program since the first semester. I felt that I had a purpose now. All trough my semesters I learned more and more about how to maximize your business. I started seeing life in a more logical way at the same time, I started valuating more the gift of the present. Business School was the best decision I could make. After graduation, I decided that that world was the one I wanted for me.

Accept my teacher's offer.

After all, I honestly graduated with straight A's, and I was qualified for the job, so why wouldn't I accept that offer? In fact, my teacher was kind of hot and only 5 years older than me. After 3 years working with him, we got together. The job was pretty good. At the Restaurant, I learned that I liked the administration area as well. Now, I study Business at University of Montreal, and we plan to open more and more restaurants. After all, I find my true self in Montreal and at the Business area.
