After studying in delinquency technique for 3 years, I had to do an internship that would determine if I could have my diploma or not. It was the beginning of my internship in the youth center of Laval and I already had to make a crucial decision. This delinquent I was working with for my final evaluation was always telling me how pretty I was, flirting and later on told me that he had fallen in love with me. He was very insistent and started saying all of these inappropriate comments every time I had a clinical meeting with him. It almost appeared as if he was harassing me.
Choice 1 : Accept romance advances from a young deliquent.
Choice 2 : Not accept romance advances from a young deliquent.

I didn't tell anyone about the comments that the boy told me and never told him to stop. Instead, I started having reciprocate feelings for this boy and fell in love with him. I knew the consequences of this relationship would affect my career forever. It was an unprofessional action and I knew it could affect my reputation. Once our relationship started, he asked me to bring in drugs from outside for him in exchange for money.
Choice 1 : Bring drugs to the youth center for the boy.
Choice 2 : Call off the romance and tell the internship supervisor.
During the following clinical meeting with this boy, I directly told him that the comments that he made on the previous meeting were inappropriate since I was his educator and there are professional limits that cannot be transpassed. I also explained to him that I was there to help him only and that there was no interest from my side to start a romantic relationship and that he had to stop. Thus, after this meeting I had to take a decision on whether or not I wanted to continue helping this boy after all.
Choice 1 : Continue helping this boy and his case.
Choice 2 : Change cases and not work with this boy anymore.
I was madly deeply in love with this boy and I thought he loved me even more so I figured I would help him get better by doing what he wanted me to do.
Choice 1 : Stay in this toxic relationship.
Choice 2 : Leave this toxic relationship.
I realized that this situation was unacceptable and that I was involved in something very illegal and beyond the norms of professionalism. By so, I decided to explain my misconduct to my internship supervisor who proceeded by firing me from my internship.
Choice 1 : Find another field of study to restart my education.
I decided to continue helping this boy because I saw a potential in him, even though I had doubts to proceed to this journey. Moreover, I didn't want to give up on him since a lot of these young teenagers are practically always in rotation from an educator to another and don't have that stability to develop an attachment link to an adult to better themselves.
Choice 1 : Make him a better person by helping him.
Choice 2 : Quit the internship.
By changing cases and start working with other teens and children. It made me feel more comfortable to not work with the boy anymore. I successfully continued my internship. My supervisor and my teacher were very proud of me and the work I was doing.
Choice 1 : Finish internship.
By staying in this unhealthy relationship I ended up being kicked out of my internship and fail my studies. I then got pregnant by the delinquent boy, and he promised me a good life if I stayed with him.
Choice 1 : Build a life with the delinquent.
By leaving this relationship I am liberating myself from a toxic person and a situation that could've gone worse. Therefore, I wasn't able to continue this internship or that career that I had hoped for and had to move on.
Choice 1 : Continue on with my life.
Being fired from this internship meant that I was not going to get my diploma. It also meant that I could never work in the field of criminology that involves adults or children. I then decided to restart my education by finding another field of study that interests me as much.

I ended up living happily with him and had a baby but I couldn't work in my domain anymore because of what I did. Hence, my education didn't serve me nothing since didn't get my diploma and my work and professional reputation is ruined by this event.

By keeping helping him, we developed a good relation of attachment where he trusted me. I continued working with him and other young teenagers for the rest of my internship and I saw an evolution in their behaviour and growth. I was so glad I took that decision because at the end, it only took a reframing to bring him a back on the right path.

I finally decided to cancel my internship and realized that this sphere of study wasn't interesting to me after all and I didn't see myself doing this as my career. I preferred letting someone else who could actually help and educate those people, take my place.
