Let's Talk About You.

After one year and a half years of college, it is finally the time for you to decide your field with the help of a guidance counselor. You feel very excited as well as scared, because you know it will be a decision that will affect your future. You feel nauseous as you knock on the counselor's door. He tells you to come in. When he sees you, he smiles gently and tells you to take a seat. He says, "Hello Aviva, would you like to start by telling me about yourself, your interests, and your program?" You say,"I am nineteen, I am in Computer Science and Mathematics. I like listening to music while I code on my computer, I like reading, and doing sports." You take a moment to think, and you say:

Choice 1 : "I spend some of my free time learning the creation process of some applications, and I try to imitate or change them with my code."

Choice 2 : "I spend some of my free time trying to learn the theory behind topics such as programming or algorithms."

well

Obvious, Isn't It?

"Did you decide in which field do you want to study?", he responds. You reply, "I want to know more about software, obviously. I was thinking software engineering." He starts typing on his computer, and says while smiling,"This program will definitely feed your hunger for the knowledge of creating applications.", and he adds, "Did you think of a school?"

Choice 1 : You haven't decided yet. You tell the guidance counselor that you have two universities in mind.

Software

Obvious, Isn't It?

"Did you decide in which field do you want to study?", he responds. You reply, "I want to know more about computation, obviously. I was thinking computer science." He starts typing on his computer, and says while laughing genuinely,"This program will definitely feed your hunger for the knowledge of artificial intelligence. Don't code them such in a way that they can access nuclear launch codes and kill us all, as Becca Franco from the show The 100 did that mistake while creating A.L.I.E. " He adds, "Did you think of a school?"

Choice 1 : You haven't decided yet. You tell the guidance counselor that you have two universities in mind.

computer science

Decisions, Decisions.

After the guidance counselor helps you apply for both McGill University and University of Montreal, you go to the library to work on your integrative project that is due in 9 weeks. You feel stressed as you do research on how to use a recursive method with shapes in Eclipse which is an integrated development environment. While you are implementing the abstract class in other classes that extend from the Drawable class included in Java tool kit, you feel overwhelmed by the choices you have to make because if you are accepted to University of Montreal, you are going to have to live in an off campus housing without your parents. You have 2 weeks to decide.

Choice 1 : Time flies.

Choice 2 : You still don't know what you want after an intensive one-hour thinking session.

The Day of Reckoning.

Two weeks had passed, and now it is time to decide your fate. You have been accepted by the two universities you applied for. Will you go live with your parents or will you choose to be more independent during your studies?

Choice 1 : You accept UdeM's offer.

Choice 2 : You accept McGill's offer.

decisions

The Life Lesson Number One.

Well, too bad because life doesn't wait for you to catch up. You must decide now!

Choice 1 : Day of reckoning.

Fun Begins.

As you decided, after you complete your studies in college, you find yourself a place to stay near UdeM. Your apartment is in a building where the most residents are from your school. It isn't hard for you to find a housemate knowing that your best friend Chloe who is also a programmer like yourself also needs a place to stay! You move in together thinking that university is going to be so much fun now that your best friend lives with you, and has common classes with you! You dream about all of the great things that could happen, but you also start thinking about how you have to start working while studying to increase your income. To be able to do that, you must have perfect time management. While having straight A's isn't your goal, you also don't want to miss classes or sacrifice your social life.

Choice 1 : You find a full-time job in a restaurant.

Choice 2 : You find a part-time job in a movie theater, and you ask financial help from your parents.

Choice 3 : You rely on your rich best friend Chloe to pay for your expenses.

stress

A Bit Worried.

As you decided, you stay at your parents house until you finish your studies. Financially, you made the right choice. On the other hand, you are not sure that staying with your family is the best option which would lead to your success, considering how loud they can be. Since you were young, you always remember your parents arguing. They never stop and never agree on anything. On the contrary, your sister and your brother are calm teenagers who mind their own business. You tell yourself that it is going to be alright, and that you can succeed as you did all these years with all the drama in the house. To be able escape from the continuous arguing, you decide to find a job which will allow you to make money for the future.

Choice 1 : You find a part-time job in a movie theater.

Choice 2 : You find a full-time job in a restaurant.

Adult?

You obviously aren't ready to step into adulthood right now. Your parents want you to come back home.

Choice 1 : You find a part-time job in a movie theater, and you ask financial help from your parents.

Choice 2 : You find a full-time job in a restaurant.

Choice 3 : You move in with your parents.

no

School Dropout.

You decided that money is more important to you than your passion. You dropout of school and find a job in a restaurant where you earn $25 150 per year. You live with your parents, and spend half of your life in their basement playing video games.

Choice 1 : The End

Dropout

Now It Gets Interesting.

After a few months, you get comfortable with your new reality. Studying and working at the same time has been great for you, but you feel like you are missing out. Your best friend lives her best life; she parties with her other friends every Friday and has good grades at school. You can't stop feeling jealous of all the opportunities that life provided her with. Regardless of your feelings, you still get along pretty well and everything has been great at home. On the positive side of things, your schools projects are extraordinarily fun, thanks to that handsome Liam who has been your teammate for the past 3 weeks. You have had a crush on him since day one, but you have never admitted it to anyone, to not even Chloe. Both of you became teammates when Mr. Miller had asked both of you to code an artificial intelligence which includes multiple code languages, such as Python, and C++, to be able to orient a model car between obstacles without making it crash on one of them. In short, you create an automated car together. After spending some time with him and with your other teammates from other programs, you become emotionally close with Liam.

Choice 1 : You decide to tell Chloe about your new relationship.

Choice 2 : You decide not to tell Chloe about your new relationship.

Become an Intern.

While your first school year comes to an end, Chloe still has no clue about your romantic relationship with Liam. As it is almost the end of your first year in university, you must get an internship in a company to get your foot in the door. Becoming an intern seems scary to you, and you feel timid. You don't know if you are able to work with Liam as interns in the same company. Even if you could, flirtation between interns isn't something the company would wish for. You wonder if it is against office protocols. You are aware that since you will be a trainee, they will make you do leg work. Thus, it is going to be maddening. While a regular employee's job is to collect data or to better an application, you feel like you will probably be an invaluable asset to their team, that is if your back-ground check is what they are seeking. Perhaps, your on-the-job-training will actually help you learn the ropes, and they are going to give you an actual job such as solving a bug, referred to as a failure or a flaw in the software program. Furthermore, maybe they will even pay you! You can set aside, and you won't have to continue your part-time job! To be efficient at work, you must learn ins-and-outs OJT so that your employer sees how effective and worthwhile you are. You remind yourself that you shouldn't allow people to undermine you, your efforts and your work just because you want to have an experience in the field. You clear your head of all these thoughts, and focus on the internship choices you have to make.

Choice 1 : You choose the same internship as Chloe.

Choice 2 : You choose the same internship as Liam.

thinking

Friendship 101.

While your first school year comes to an end, Chloe and you are closer than ever. When you tell her about your relationship, she responds, "I also had a small crush on him! I am so glad that you told me about it as soon as it happened! I wouldn't want our relationship to be awkward because of some boy. He is yours sis." You feel overwhelmed with happiness. As it is almost the end of your first year in university, you must get an internship in a company to get your foot in the door. Becoming an intern seems scary to you, and you feel timid. Having Chloe and Liam by your side gives you a sense of security. You keep hoping for the best, and keep making wonderful choices!

Choice 1 : The End

Happy End

Revenge Is Sweet.

All three of you start your on-the-job-training. Days goes by fast with Liam at work, you think you could get used to this. Everything seems to workout fine. There are always some days when it doesn't. In one of those days, you come to work early, put your stuff on the small desk they gave you. As you approach the kitchen to get a coffee, you recognize Chloe in front of Liam who is kissing her passionately. You feel the rage, and betrayal. It hurts. A moment later, Liam breaks the kiss to say " That was unexpected, did you come all the way here to kiss me?" Chloe turns to you and says, "No, I came all the way here to make her feel the betrayal I felt, when she decided not do tell me that she was dating the boy I had a crush on!"

Choice 1 : The End

Come Clean.

All three of you start your on-the-job-training. Days goes by fast with Chloe at work. You bond more than ever! One day, while you are having lunch, you mention her that you are dating Liam. She seems a little upset at first. She congratulates you. She tells you that she actually knew, and felt betrayed when you didn't tell her as soon as it happened. She tells you that it hurt her feelings because she also had a crush on him before she knew that you were dating. You talk about it as adults, and never forget that best friends come before hot guys!
