My career as a town planner.

School can be very maddening. Especially when my best friends are always scoring straight A’s at every exam. At my last exam, I got 61% which is good. Even though I pulled off, it wasn’t enough for my parents. They said that I always put aside my homework and cursory do them. They also told me that I continue like this, I might fail and not be able to go to CEGEP next year. But I don’t know in which field of study I want to go and my motivation at school is very low. I prefer enjoying my teenager life and go to parties. What should I do? Should I listen to them or do what I want?

Enjoying my teenager life I wanted to make my parents proud. That’s why I started to be thoughtful and tried to improve my time management and to pull off my semester. I knew that I needed a thorough understanding of all my subject. I am doing well right now, and I am pulling off. CEGEP registrations are starting soon. I saw that the Arts and Sciences program is a combination of the three pre-university program. It can be I good choice! I am hesitating between the CEGEP of Maisonneuve, which is a public college, or the Jean-de-Brébeuf CEGEP, which is a private college. Cegep Jean-de-Brébeuf is the best college in Quebec, but I don't come from a well-off family, so I may have to find a student job to pay for my study fees. Should I go to Maisonneuve or Jean-de-Brébeuf?

I love my program and my school choice too! The program Arts and sciences is a small program, and we are a closed class so in most of the classes I am always with the same people. I was able to quickly make friends. I started to watch the university programs since registrations are coming soon. The bachelor's degree in town planning is interesting. OJT.
I learned how to work as a town planning trainee. I really liked it because it allowed me to learn and understand the ins-and-outs of the job at my work at the moment and I became friends with some other trainees. I also earned a wage which benefits me because I had just graduated and had no money. The wage was very different from other wages, because of the big amount of the paycheck. I used to think that OJT just had advantages because a friend had just told me all the benefits of becoming a trainee. However, OJT also has drawbacks. For example, there were some evidences of bias in favor of younger candidates which disadvantage older candidates who applied for OJT. Anyway, my supervisor liked the way I work during my OJT and offered to work for their company! What should I do?

Volunteering abroad.
Volunteers offer invaluable acts of kindness by doing what they do. That’s why I accepted to volunteer abroad. For those who are skeptical about it and think that there is no purpose to work if you don’t earn money, I must say that being a volunteer offers more advantages than working in a dead-end job which proposes more disadvantages. One of my friends who had volunteered in China among the rural population told me that she was able to get a job with a premium wage after returning to Montreal which is a big advantage. Volunteering abroad also allowed me to build in-depth knowledge by spending time with others and by learning a third language. However, I encountered some difficulties at the beginning. Indeed, I wasn’t able to express myself properly. It can be view as a disadvantage, but I learned rapidly. I took this as a challenge. At the beginning, I used body language mixed with English. People laughed at me sometimes, but I really enjoyed this experience. I also made new friends from different countries, and we shared our culture. Now that my this experience is over. Should I go back to Montreal or take a year off and travel?
