Choose your path.
The big decision.
It is your last semester of CEGEP where you have been studying Arts and Sciences for the past two years. During those two years, you were able to pull off straight A's which means that you have a lot of options for your future career. Now, you have to make the biggest decision of your entire life which is choosing the field of study in which you will work all your life. You are good at maths and physics, there is no doubt about that, but you also like using your creativity while working. For the last few weeks, you have been hesitating between civil engineering and architecture. It is time to choose.
Choice 1 : You decide to apply in civil engineering.

Applying in civil engineering.
You decide to applied in civil engineering. Indeed, you are interested in studying materials and analysing how buildings are made. While doing your research about what are the best schools to study engineering, you find two options that seem, at first, interesting : Polytechnic and Concordia University. You could apply to both of them but, being someone who does not like wasting money, you decide to apply to only one of them.

Applying in architecture.
Being a fan of architecture, especially Edwardian architecture which is an architectural style that was developed back in the 1900s, you choose to apply in architecture. Now that you have made your decision about your field of study, you still need to choose your school.

A Tragic Night.
You sent your application three hours ago. While surfing on the Web, you find an article about December 6th 1989. While doing some research, you discover that, on that previous date, there was an anti-feminist shooting at Polytechnic. Being yourself a woman, you get scared and refuse to ever study there.

A Nightmare.
You were accepted to Concordia three months ago. Tonight is a big night. You have a zoom meeting with some of your future colleagues to get to know each others. As soon as you enter the zoom call, you realise that you are the only woman. At first, you do not make a big deal out of it, but the boys do make a big deal out of it. They start to call you horrible names and insult you. After two minutes, you decide to close your laptop and never to go back to school.

Studying In English : Not an Easy Task.
Congrats! You were accepted in the architecture degree at McGill. You even received some congratulations about your portfolio and your future teachers told you how impressive your technical drawings were for a new student. You are really happy about studying at McGill University. The only drawback is that you are an ESL student and you have some difficulties understanding English. A friend of yours, who studied at McGill University, gives you some options about improving your English. You could take some English lesson with a tutor or you could go to the initiation party where you could meet your future colleagues.

A Good Start.
Even if UDEM was not your first choice, you are still happy to go study there. There are many advantages about this school such as the fact that you already know some people who are going to study architecture there. Now that you have been accepted, you need to buy your school supplies. You could either take the bus or your car to go to the store.

Far From Home.
You have been accepted to Laval University. Since that school is in Quebec City, you have to find an apartment and live far from home. Being paid at the minimum wage, you find it though to pay your rent and your food. Those difficulties make it hard to focus on your studies. You get depressed and start drinking too much.

The Clock Is Ticking.
You register for an English course like your friend suggest. Even if the class are helpful, your time management is a mess and you start to put aside a lot of your homework. With five hours of English courses every week, you do not find the time to do your homework and you are failing most of your class.

A Great Night.
It is almost 9 p.m. and you are fully prepared for the party. The party is on Mount Royal so you take the subway to go there. When you arrive, there are so many people that you do not even know where to look and you decide to have a drink to start your night. After drinking your glass of wine, you spot three groups of people that you think you could get along with. The first one is a group of stoners. The second one is a group of intellectuals talking about a new building that was built in Tokyo. The third one is actually not a group, but a lonely boy who is smiling at you.

Maybe, I Should Have Listened.
Both of the options that were proposed by your friends sounded boring, so you chose to not listen to him. You are already overwhelmed by the amount of work that you have to do and the fact that you do not understand half of what your teachers are saying does not make it easier. You become skeptical of your capacities and decide to drop out.

Everything is going great.
You decide to take the bus to save money on gas since you are not working at a premium wage. While listening to your favorite music, you check the list of materials that you will need. You realise that you need a set of drawing pens and a set of drawing pencils that you could easily find at an art store. You also need a tape measure and some rulers that you could find at Home Depot.

That Was Not Planned.
You get in your car to go buy your school supplies for the beginning of the year. While driving, you look at your cellphone to put the GPS. Unfortunately, another driver was looking at their cellphone. You both miss the stop signs and got in a car accident that will paralyze both of you for the rest of your lives.

That Is Definitely Not The Right Path.
You remember that you came to the party to have fun, so you decide to go talk to the stoners. As soon as you arrive close to them, they offer you something that you already know is not a good thing for you, but you still decide to take it. Unfortunately, after that night, you become an addict and you are not able to go to school anymore. You will never have the opportunity to learn about columns and parapets.

Trying To Be a Good Student.
You walk slowly in the direction of the group of intellectual people. As soon as they see you, they smile back at you and start to talk to you. You learn that they had the opportunity to volunteer abroad and that they enjoyed it. After their experience as volunteers, they realise that they did not want to finish like their parents working at a dead-end job. They explain in-depth every advantage and disadvantage of volunteering abroad. They even told you that their experience were invaluable and that those experience is the reason they have a purpose in life.They even give you the phone number of someone who could help you if you want to be a volunteer. At the end of the discussion, you decide to go back to your dorm and get a good night of sleep. While walking, you see the lonely boy smiling at you.

You Only See That In Movies.
You smile back at the lonely boy and walk toward him. He starts to flirt with you and you immediately fall in love with him, so you flirt back. You learn all about his background, and the next day, you decide to both leave on vacation and live your love story.

A Calm Place.
You get down of the bus right in front of the art store. Before going in, you take a look around you. Architecture is always something that you have found interesting. On the other side of the street, you notice the beautiful frieze of another building. You have been really stressed out about the beginning of the year and the art store is a place where you are able to stay calm. You stay around twenty minutes in the store trying to find everything that you need. You are starting to get tired but you still need to go to the other store.

How Could I Know That Would Happen?
You get down of the bus in front of Home Depot. You are not familiar with that store so you try to find an employee. Being a new customer to that store, you forget to look around you and a forklift roll over you.

Feeling Good.
Everything is going great. You are pulling off excellent grades and your teachers are impressed with your work. You are now a professional, as your teacher called you, in first-floor plan and second-flood plan. You still need to work on your perspective but the time will come. The time has come, you have to do your first stage. You have two options in front of you. The first one is to go work for the entire summer in an architect firm to learn about the office politics. The second one is an internship in which you could learn the ropes of being an architect.

Boring.
After the first hour in that architect firm, you already know that you are going to hate it. Your colleagues are disrespectful toward your work and you feel powerless. They told you that your work is cursory. Even if, it is only a small business, this organization is full of hypocrites. You do not find any benefit from that job so, you decide to quit on lunchtime and to never come back.

AMAZING!
It is the first day of you internship. When you arrive at work, the first person you meet is the employer, who makes sure that you know who your trainer is. After a quick visit of the office, your trainer shows you how to do your first task of the day. You have been for 2 hours before lunch break, where your trainer shows you his works from when he was studying. You discover that he master the art of cornice and pilaster. You also find out that he is a big fan of Neo-Classical architecture, just like you. After your first day, the boss come to congrats you and tells you that you came in handy and that he is interested in hiring you for a full-time job. You really enjoy being an intern and you think you actually found your dream job.
