As I am currently in my third semester at Ahuntsic College studying Cinema, I'm wondering if I really want to pursue a career in Cinema or choose another path. Since I was a little kid, I always dreamed about becoming a firefighter, but I' now realizing that choosing that path is going to be more difficult than I thought. They don't accept a lot of people in the program and the physical tests are very hard. I'm also considering becoming a teacher. I've always loved kids and every summer I work at a summer camp. I'm hesitating between finish my current studies and not becoming a firefighter, or change my program and pick something that is a safer choice. Working in the cinema industry can be really tricky...
Choice 1 : Arts, Literature and Communication : Cinema.
Choice 2 : Change my field of study.

I decided to finish my DEC in Cinema. If I want to go to university, I have to apply very soon. Since I have relatively good grades, I shouldn't have a problem getting accepted in the program I choose. On the other hand, I've been thinking about going on a trip for a while now. I saved enough money these past years and could afford to leave the country for a few months. If I decide to leave, it will delay my studies. Should I be adventurous or should I keep that money and move out of my parents home?
Choice 1 : Arts, Literature and Communication : Cinema.
Choice 2 : Go to university.
Although I loved studying cinema, I think I'm in need of change. I now have to choose between studying in Social Sciences or starting a DEP in Fire Safety. Becoming a firefighter is my dream since I'm a little girl, but studying in Social Sciences is something that interests me a lot.
Choice 1 : Social Sciences
Choice 2 : DEP in Fire Safety.
I loved the Social Sciences program but lately I've been really exhausted. School drained all my energy. Even tough my parents are putting pressure on me to continue my studies and go to university, I think I need a break. I work at a restaurant and could ask to work more hours. My manager loves me and I think putting my mind off school for a year would be great. The only thing is I'm scared to lack motivation when it comes to returning to school. Maybe continuing my studies and going to university is the best option.
Choice 1 : Take a break from school.
Choice 2 : Go to university.
I decided to take a year off even tough my parents weren't happy with my decision. My manager is going to be promoted; she was offered a job at corporate and took it! Since I've been working full time these past months, she offered me her position. My plan was to go back to school in September, but being a restaurant manager is fun and I make good money. I never dreamed about working in a restaurant but it's a job I like and I can have a great life if I decide to take the job.
Choice 1 : Accept the offer.
Choice 2 : Go to university.
It's been five years since I accepted the offer! I love my job and I'm very happy with the decision I took. I recently redecorated the whole restaurant and our sales have never been this good! I'm working on opening another restaurant and hope everything goes well! I'm living a happy and successful life. Crazy how life can be.

I didn't get accepted... I'm very confused and sad. I passed the first selection, but I failed the physical tests. Being a firefighter, helping others, working as a team... it's always been my dream. The second round of application is starting soon. I have to choices available: either I apply to another program or I wait till next semester and reapply in the Fire Safety program. If I decide to wait and reapply, I'll get the chance to get ready for the physical tests. Should I pursue my life long dream or give up and apply in Social Sciences?
Choice 1 : Try again.
Choice 2 : Apply in Social Sciences
Although I got accepted in the program and became a firefighter, I made a terrible mistake that cost the life of a family. Mistakes like these are taken very seriously by the Firefighters Academy and before they could even decide about my fate, I decided to quit. The thought of causing the death of another person creeped my soul. After that terrible mistake, I went through years of psychological recovery. Every year, I place flowers on the door step of the house that burst into flames on May 15th 2025 and where a nice little family used to live. Crazy how life can be...

I decided to go to university. I'll have the whole summer to relax. I just need to decide in which program I want to apply. Since I started my studies in Social Sciences, I've been think a lot about becoming a teacher. I think I'd be pretty good. Also, I wouldn't work during the summer and during Christmas break. I've got to admit tough, I really miss the field of arts. Studying cinema became more than a field of study. It became a passion. The only problem is that I would really love to become a movie director but the chances of me making a life out of it are pretty thin.
Choice 1 : Teaching.
Choice 2 : Continue studying cinema.
I don't think I will like teaching to young kids. As much fun as they are, the demand a huge amount of attention and structure. Older kids are going to be fun since I'll be able to create more sophisticated projects with them. Becoming an English teacher would allow me to talk about the problems our society is facing and create very interesting projects. On the other hand, I'm such an artistic person that becoming an Art teacher would be really fulfilling.
Choice 1 : Become an English teacher.
Choice 2 : Become an Art teacher.
I've completed my 4 years BAC in Cinema! I loved it! Cinema is a true passion of mine. Many of my teachers and colleagues have told me how talented I am over the past years. I think I could start a career out of it... I have talent, great ideas, good connections, money I've been saving for a while now... Should I do it? Should I become a movie director? I really don't know. It's such a risky path. I could either become the next Xavier Dolan or fail and loose all of my savings. Either I follow this crazy dream, or I go with a safer choice and become a cinema teacher. My college years were fun and I like my teachers...
Choice 1 : Become a college teacher.
Choice 2 : Produce a movie.
I've been working as an English teacher for a few years now. As much as I love my job and the students, I don't get along with the other English teacher which makes every day so tough. Since we share the same office, I don't have the choice but to be around her. I've been offered a teaching position at another school. I've made a lot of friends here and my colleague is getting ready to retire. I love this school but taking that other job could be a new start.
Choice 1 : Take the job offer.
Choice 2 : Stay and wait for my colleague to retire.
I took the job offer and started working at new school in September. I was so unhappy and regretted leaving my old job. Since it was very traditional establishment, it was frowned upon being close friends with a colleague. I was feeling so lonely and I would cry every morning on my way to work. I worked there for two years before finally changing schools but I've never been as happy and fulfilled as I was at the first school I worked at. I regret my decision every day. Crazy how life can be...

Hands down the best decision I have ever taken. She announced her departure shortly after I refused the job offer from that other school. The new English teacher was this very handsome man. Little did I know by refusing the other job that I would meet the love of my life. When we first met, it was love at first sight (as cheesy as it sounds). We now have been working side by side for ten years and I'm pregnant with our second child. Crazy how life can be!

My studies can wait! I only have one life to live and I will continue my studies next year. I've decided to leave for two months but I don't know where I want to go. I'm hesitating between going to Europe or going to Haiti. I've been wanting to backpack through Europe for a while now but it's going to be an expensive trip. If I decide to go to Haiti, I will get to discover a completely different culture! Even tough Europe has a different culture from us, Haiti would be a complete change of scenery. I need to buy my plane ticket soon. Where should I go?
Choice 1 : Europe.
Choice 2 : Haiti.
I've been an Art teacher for the last five years and I couldn't be happier. I've created these amazing projects with my students and I couldn't be more grateful. I love my job but sometimes I wonder what it's like to teach art. Teach the historical parts and the artists that forged contemporary art. I want to do more than just create projects. I want to teach something important to students who share my passion for art. I love my current job and I know that currently, there isn't a lot of colleges looking for an Art teacher. Also, if I decide to teach college, I'd have to do my Master while still teaching. It could take me years...
Choice 1 : Become a college teacher.
Choice 2 : Continue teaching.
I'm 65 years old and I'm teaching my last arts class ever. I lived a happy life but I always wondered what would my life would be if I chose to become a college teacher. Not that I regret my decision, but being an Art teacher for high school kids wasn't very glamorous. It was a calm and satisfying job. I got to spend a lot of time with my kids and go on many trips with my husband who I met whilst on a field trip to an art gallery with my students. He taught art in college and his life consisted of art galleries and meeting artists. I've never been jealous of him, but I think I would've been pretty good at his job. Crazy how life can be.
Choice 1 : Return to section 1
I'm now 65 years old and I love my life more than I ever did. Becoming a college teacher was the best thing I could've done. I discovered a true passion for contemporary art; I started writing critics about art pieces that would catch my eye in galleries I would visit. Little did I know I was going to be a worldwide famous art critic! My husband and I, who I met in an art gallery whilst on a field trip with my high school students, travel the world to see paintings and sculptures in galleries we were invited too. I still teach college because I simply love teaching but managing my time is becoming so difficult! I love my job and what my life became. Took the best decision ever that day. Crazy how life can be!

Over the years, I met many creative minds, some of which chose a different path then cinema after college. One student in particular became this huge movie director. We kept in touch after she graduated. Her first movie was nominated for an Oscar! As I called her to congratulate her, she asked me to be a part of her second movie. I was confused as why she needed my help when she was doing so well on her own. Turns out I showed her, a few years back when she was still my student, a script I wrote, and she loved it the second she read it. We met and re-wrote the movie together. It was a hit. She is now producing her fifth movie, and we still meet up every two weeks for lunch. I still teach cinema and couldn't be happier. Crazy how life can be!
Choice 1 : Return to section 1
My movie didn't do great at all. I lost all my money and after a year long of hard work I was back to square one. With my B.A. in cinema, I was able to find a job on a film set. I've been working for the same company ever since as a prop technician. It was supposed to be a temporary job but I just never quit. I don't know how I ended up here, me, such a creative person, doing a 40 hour a week job executing someone else's ideas. I don't hate my job but I think that if I took the right choices, I could've done something much more interesting with my life. Crazy how life can be...

I met a girl on my trip, Alissa, who works for the Red Cross. She introduced me to her team that was currently working in Haiti. I started helping them out as a volunteer and turns out I really liked it! She told me they were presently in need of workers and I could follow some formations. It would be a pretty big step but I honestly love helping out others. I promised myself that I would go back to university when I came back from my trip, but this could be an interesting opportunity!
Choice 1 : Work for the Red Cross.
Choice 2 : Return to Quebec and go to university.
It was the best trip ever! I visited 15 countries and met incredible people. On my fifth week, I met this French guy, Julien, and he decided to join me on the rest of my trip. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but... I think I fell in love with him. We spent every single day together and it was incredible. He asked me to stay in France with him but I don't know if I should. Even though I spent an amazing time with him, I promised myself to return to school after my trip. If I decide to stay here, I'd have to apply for a VISA. My plane leaves in two days. I have to decide pretty soon. I honestly love France and wouldn't mind staying here longer. Should I be spontaneous or should I be rational and go back to Quebec and go to university?
Choice 1 : Return to Quebec to continue my studies.
Choice 2 : Stay in France.
I've been working for the Red Cross for while now and I love it! I get to help people and travel all around the world. I'm 38 now and I'm still single. With work taking a big place in my life, I don't get the chance to meet someone and settle. I don't mind it. I feel lonely sometimes, but I love my work so much. I never imagined traveling so much and having the opportunity to help so many people. Crazy how life can be.
Choice 1 : Return to section 1
Julien was a great guy but when I told him I couldn't stay and had to go back to Quebec, he acted like a real jerk. If I stayed, I would've discovered his true colours and regretted my decision. I'm happy to be back. Even though it didn't end well with Julien, I'll still keep a great memory of my trip. I now have to decide what I want to study. I'm such an artistic person but at the same time I've been thinking about becoming a teacher. Should I study Cinema or should I study teaching?
Choice 1 : Teaching.
Choice 2 : Study cinema.
I decided to stay in France. Julien and I didn't work out. He was a jerk. But I love it here! I applied for a VISA and finished my studies here. I now have an amazing job and amazing friends. I still go back to Quebec on Christmas to see my family. I met an amazing guy, and we've now been dating for three years. I never thought I would live in a foreign country... crazy how life can be!

My trip changed me. I'm so glad I got to live this incredible experience. It's now time to go back to reality.
