Police Technology

End of High School.

High School is almost done, and I now have to choose in which program I want to study and at which CEGEP. My dream is to become a Police Officer, so I'm obviously applying in Police Technology to pursue my purpose. I visited different colleges that offers the Police Technology program and I had to make a choice. However, there's a drawback applying in this specific program. It is highly in demand and you need to get straight A's, so I had to make sure to apply to a different college and in a different program.

Choice 1 : Maisonneuve College

Choice 2 : Ellis College

Choice 3 : Champlain College

High School graduation

Maisonneuve College.

Unfortunately, I got refuse in Police Technology. It is not an easy pill to swallow, and it is maddening, but I can't do anything. I tried to remind myself that I am not the only one in this situation. However, they told me that they're saving me a place in their school, so I can apply in any other program that still has available places! Three programs interest me;

Choice 1 : Dietetics

Choice 2 : Social Science - the Individual.

Choice 3 : Science

Maisonneuve College

Ellis College.

Ellis College is a private CEGEP in Drummondville. It's difficult to be accepted in Police Technology at this Cegep because they are only accepting 50 students per year. I passed the physical tests and the interview, so I was pretty joyous. However, there are some drawbacks; it is expensive, far away from where I live and I don't know anybody that lives there. Should I still go and pursue my dream, or should I hinder the Police Technology program and go at a different Cegep?

Choice 1 : Go to Ellis College

Choice 2 : Another Cegep, another program

Ellis College

Champlain College.

I applied in Criminology at Champlain College, but didn't have any expectations. Criminology is highly in demand, so it is not easy to get accepted. Surprisingly, I got accepted. I also got an answer from College de Maisonneuve for other programs than Police Technology. Should I go study at Champlain College in Criminology even though my English is far from being perfect, or should I go at College de Maisonneuve and eventually request a change of program?

Choice 1 : Criminology at Champlain College

Choice 2 : Maisonneuve College

Champlain College, St-Lambert

Dietetics.

As I train regularly and make sure to fuel my body with healthy nutriments, I thought the Dietetics program was a good option. I was right! Food has always interested me, and I've always wanted to learn more about how to correctly eat. I learned so many things in just one year. Even though I still want to be a policewoman, I'm hesitating in finishing the program and setting aside Police Technology, or applying in Police Technology right now.

Choice 1 : Continue in Dietetics

Choice 2 : Apply in Police Technology

Dietetics

Social Science - the Individual.

As it says in the program's name, Social Science - the individual is related to the individual and also has some subjects related to the Police Technology program, such as Law, in which we learn some public orders, civil law, etc., Sociology, in which we talk about sexual assault, feminism, Native, etc., and Psychology, in which we talk about the process to decide, the stress, etc. Some of my friends are also studying in this program, and I met a lot of beautiful people in this program that were also refused in Police Technology. It was overwhelming to be surrounded by good people, get help and help others, and see I wasn't the only one in my situation. It's time for me to make a choice; use time management and try to council school and training to eventually apply in Police Technology, or focus on school and my grades, and finish my DEC before applying in Police Technology.

Choice 1 : Police Technology program.

Choice 2 : Finish my DEC

Group of friends studying together

Science.

As the majority of the students, I thought it was a good idea to go study in Science; I told myself I would have more options at the end. However, I shouldn't have. I have no motivation, my classes are difficult, I know it will be a big challenge to have a good R cote score. My purpose is to be a policewoman, drive police cars, arrest perpetrators, protect the population, help those in need, etc.

Choice 1 : Try again.

Student who tries to study but is desperate

Dietetics.

I was so wrong by staying in this program. It is interesting, but that's not what I want to do and I knew it. I was actually misconducted about this situation and I should have listened to my intuition. I regret to not had tried to shoot my shot and apply in Police Technology.

Choice 1 : Try again.

try again

Police Technology program.

What a roller coaster it was, but I finally got in! It took a lot of efforts and commitment, but I got accepted. It's so fulfillment because it wasn't an easy road, but I managed to pull off. I now have the chance to put a foot in the door and learn different aspects that are related to the Police officer's job and become a good one. I can't wait to do on-the-job-training during my 3 years in cegep, and do my final trainee at Nicolet. From now on, I have to be careful with the people I am seeing and my actions, because when it is going to be the time to apply in the SQ, they will do a background check. I can guarantee you that I will wear my uniform and my badge proudly. My next purpose is to apply as a K9 officer as soon as a vacant position opens and have my own police dog! It would be an honour for me to specialize my dog in finding lost people or perpetrators on the run. Finally, I will be able to retire at a young age, have a good pension and no mortgage, and spend the time I have left with my family and my loved ones.

Choice 1 : The end.

Police dog

End of my DEC... or not.

That's not what I should have done. I have a specific goal that is ingrained in me; I want to become a police officer.

Choice 1 : Try again.

try again

Ellis College.

I know becoming a cop is my dream, but going to Ellis College was such a bad idea. The school fees are expensive, I have to pay for my uniform, an apartment, my food, pay for my car payment, gas, etc. Above that, the pandemic hit us, so I have been alone, I can't see my family and don't have any wage to pay for everything. Gyms are closed too, so my mental health is at his lowest. It is thoroughly.

Choice 1 : Try again.

Paying too many bills

Another Cegep, another program.

I've been accepted to Champlain College in Criminology, and College de Maisonneuve is offering me a place in a program that still has available places. For Maisonneuve, my choices are Dietetics, Social Science - the individual or Science.

Choice 1 : Criminology.

Choice 2 : Dietetics.

Choice 3 : Social Science - the Individual.

Choice 4 : Science.

Making a choice

Criminology.

I had difficulties in the beginning, and it was maddening, because learning everything only in English was new to me. I always went to French Schools, so I had to listen carefully in every classes, learn more sophisticated English words quickly, be comfortable to speak English, etc. However, I really love my program. I am learning new things about criminals, crimes, the process of doing a crime, etc. I made a lot of improvement in regard of my English after just 1 year, and I'm hesitating in finishing the criminology program or applying in Police Technology.

Choice 1 : Stay in Criminology

Choice 2 : Try to apply in Police Technology at College de Maisonneuve

Criminology

Maisonneuve.

That was my safest choice. I have a lot of friends studying at this College, so I know I will have fun even though I didn't get accepted in Police Technology. I have 3 options;

Choice 1 : Dietetics.

Choice 2 : Social Science - the Individual.

Choice 3 : Science.

Making a choice

Finishing criminology program at Champlain College.

That was a bad idea. It was nice at the beginning, but it got more complicated and I lost interest. I should have tried to apply in Police Technology, and to not put aside my interests, what I really wanted.

Choice 1 : Try again.
