The CEGEP came to an end, and you had to pick a program for university. With your diploma, you had access to multiple programs. However, in your opinion, the worlds of law and business were the most interesting because of the vast number of possibilities they would offer after few years in university.

You studied hard everything that a CEO would have to know. You could easily manage a team, you learned time management, you had an in-depth knowledge of the functioning of HR, and you understood how to pay taxes! You could become a respected businessman in healthcare equipment, which was your domain of expertise, but you could also work as a trader in a hedge fund.

The Law School.

After several years of thorough work where you learned about every existing law in the country, you became a skillful candidate. During your multiple internships in law firms, you built your name in the field and you learned how to write contracts. However, you still had to pass the Bar exam to get your lawyer’s license. You became very confident in your skills, and therefore, you had two choices; study hard or procrastinate.

You chose to combine your two passions! It took you five years instead of three in university because of the great number of classes required to obtain this diploma, but you were well-prepared for an exceptional career! You had to decide if you wanted to start your own law firm, or if you wanted to start working in a big company.

Finally, you decided to take it easy for the year. You enjoyed having time with your friends and working in a dead-end job to collect a little bit of money. However, when the last month arrived, you realized the invaluable amount of time you had lost. Even though you thoughtfully prepared your study schedule, you were not able to catch up with the accumulated work. As a result, on the day of the exam, you failed. You had to start over.

Studying all night just to make sure that you knew the things that you already learned by heart was not your best idea. After few months of hesitation about where you could work the next couple of years, you took a job in which you had to fill vacant positions in the factory. On your first day, you realized that you would have to deal with office politics. In fact, as soon as you entered the company, you got sucked up in. One of the employees started to undermine you by telling the other people what he saw on your Facebook wall. You learned that this same person was withholding pieces of information, and was hindering the work of his colleagues. You could either decide to participate in office politics or ignore this toxic game.

You got fired the day after your arrival. One of your colleagues had spread a false rumor about you, and you could not do anything to fix it. Your boss called you and told you to get the hell out of his building. Office politics did not fit you well apparently.

You were falsely accused of sexual harassment by one of the employees because she was afraid that you were preparing a coup against her. The police came to get you and sent you to jail to wait for your trial. Your reputation was ruined, and you had no other choice than to flee Canada to have a normal life again.

Congratulation! You just put a foot in the door of the financial world! At first, you had to learn the ropes of trading as an intern because you realized that you almost learned nothing significant for the job in school. The first months were extremely overwhelming, but you successfully pulled off great results. You put aside the distractions and the drawbacks to get straight A’s in your first-year evaluation! An important premium wage was waiting for you. Unfortunately, before you could get any penny of it, HR informed you that they performed a background check on you. Because they noticed illegal activities, they informed you that you were fired.

What a great decision! You made thousands of dollars each year since a pandemic boosted your incomes without requiring you to do anything. Clients came to you, so you did not have to reach them! Every decision you made was rewarded by additional orders from customers from all around the world. In brief, you had a comfortable life. However, you got bored with the business world, so you sold your company to a competitor. Now that you had time, you decided to leave for some vacations. You could either choose to go volunteering or to go tanning on a beach.

While you were thinking that you were helping the population of Ghana, you turned out to make the situation even worse by financing a terrorist organization that was trying to overthrow the government. By your fault, the fragile equilibrium of the country collapsed, and a civil war forced you to go back to Canada where you spent the rest of your life ashamed of yourself.

You enjoyed very comfortable days in a hostel far away from the worries of contracts, taxes, laws, lawsuits, and formal notices. While you were having a drink, you saw a beautiful woman walking on the beach with some fans that were in a complex flirtation session. You could either stay where you were or move forward to talk to her.

After only a few seconds of discussion with the attractive woman, she threw her drink at you and called you a jerk for no apparent reason. In fact, she thought that you wanted to sexually harass her. The woman that you refused to approach noticed you, and she was destabilized by your passivity. Since you did not come to charm her, she was interested in you: finally, somebody was decent here! She got close to you, and you had the occasion to get acquainted. After few hours of conversation, she left you to take a shower. When you decided to do the same, you realized that she had stolen your wallet! You were now stuck in the country forever.

Once you entered the company, you immediately saw that it was corrupted. The corruption was ingrained in the system: every employee was accepting bribes to cover illegal assets. These thefts were taking advantage of the situation to pile a lot of money. One of the most prolific employees could receive thousands of dollars every day since he was the one that was covering Mafia's businesses. After a few days in the office, you received a threat: if you refused to hide some companies’ assets, you would get killed. You decided to accept to do this since you were afraid not to participate in this corrupt system. After some time, you stopped accepting bribes and did not yield to the threats. Unfortunately, you got kidnapped, and you disappeared the following day.

Your first few years were very difficult because you had to build yourself a reputation in the city and to attract clients for you, and for your associates. However, you put aside the critics, and you worked thoroughly every day. With time, your company started to do well, and you could employ other lawyers. You could even pay yourself a premium wage each semester! One day, a weird old man showed up in your office asking you to represent him in a lawsuit. Clearly, he did not have money to pay your hourly wage. What did you do?

After spending dozens of hours on his case, you realized that it was lost in advance. You had to settle outside of the court of law or else you would lose in a trial. Then, you lost your business, and you had to work in a small law firm in the Caribbean to survive.
