The end of college or the start of a new one?

I'm currently finishing my last semester at Montmorency College in Communications. I'm about to graduate and I just got accepted at the University of Montreal to do a baccalaureate in Communication Science. I think a lot about working in an advertising company, but by searching for programs, new fields opened to me. Since I was little, I always dreamed of being a veterinarian. With the years that got by, I deduce that my grades weren't good enough to practice this job. I wasn't good enough in chemistry, physic, sciences, and maths. Before this year, I've never really think about other professions that worked with animals. To my surprise I've found the job of an animal health technician, which is the assistant of the veterinarian. I looked at what cegep offered this program and the one closest to me is Lionel-Groulx. What should I do according to you? Am I going all in in the technique and restart cegep again or am I going to university to pursue one of my dreams of being a head of advertising?

I announced to my parents that I finally decided to go to university. They were very proud of me because they know I much effort I put in my education. I can't wait to start classes and learn about my future career. Being given that the school year start on line, I decided to join a Facebook group with people in the same program as me. I thought that I would be easier to choose a person when we actually know them a little. This is when the important choice arrives... The communication students for me were really focused on their grades and less on the party, but you perhaps already guessed it, I was wrong. I have been invited to a little get together at someones house. People in the group chat were talking about bringing drugs and alcohol... I am very not used to this type of life, but in the meantime I don't want to say no, that would be lame. Classes start tomorrow morning I don't want to be wasted on the first day, but I want to go there to meet people. I want to focus on school and doing great this semester and I don't want a bad beginning. What would be the best choice?

Going to Lionel-Groulx cegep in Animal Health Technique.

This is incredible! I've been accepted in the Animal Health Technique I've been wanted! I've worked so hard to get better grades and it paid off. The program last three years, but fortunately I have already done general courses at Montmorency College, so I will have credits for those. I could almost say that I love animals more than humans! Those creatures are so pure I simply love them! Having the chance to treat them, rescue them and give them live while they are at the clinic is a dream coming true. In this program, I'll have the privilege to do internships and that is amazing! I could go in a hospital when they take all the emergency, in a clinic for domestic pets and even in a farm. A dream of mine is to treat marine animals, for example in a marine sanctuary or an aquarium. You can start to feel what the choices are coming don't you... I have to choose a place for a stage! I have the choice of going in a big veterinary clinic or in a sanctuary for marine animals, like belugas, killer whales, sharks and much more. It's up to you to choose my future internships!

Screw class friends are more important.

A chance that you chose this option! I met a few wonderful souls at this get together. I've had great conversations and I'm way more confident with the program I chose. I feel like all the people that are in this program have all the same interests and values. In therms of drugs and alcohol, I decided of not taking any and nobody pressured me on taking them, they were all very fine with my decision. Also, I spent a great moment with one guy in particular, we talked for a very long time and I felt like the fun was mutual. Who knows, it could be a start of a beautiful friendship or more... In short, I made friends, and I was more than ready for my class, so we could say that I was a very good decision! To your surprise I did not finish my diploma in Communication Science because I fell in love with the guy I met at the get together in my first year of university. We have decided to go on a one-year trip somewhere where we could learn another culture, another language and also we want to be able to work. Now, it's your turn to choose where should we go!

I've decided not to go to the get together, but unfortunately it was a terrible mistake. Almost everyone in the group chat went, and I was the only one not there. It's a little embarrassing... I should have stopped at the appearances because I missed the only evening I could have met my future friends and teammates. The night went really good and everyone was having fun and the drugs and alcohol were not a problem at all. This is a complete fail in therms of friends.... but I after three years of hard work, I finally got my diploma and you may see me coming with a choice... I have the choice of going to an interview to work for an advertising company or to work as a social platform manager for a company.

Do my internships in a marine sanctuary.

I finally decided to do my internship in a marine sanctuary. I've met a bunch of wonderful creatures. These animal are so exotics and it's not every day that I get to see a sea turtle and a sea lion. I really had fun there and this place is a protected area near Rimouski were they keep these kinds of animal to do the reproduction and assure their well-being in this cruel world. A lot of these animal were injured when they were rescue by the amazing them that worked at the sanctuary. This is when I got to intervene, I practiced bandaging, giving vaccines, and assisting the veterinarian during surgeries. It's crazy to think that a total opposite world is living in the oceans. There's so many more species that we don't know the existence of! The oceans have so many animals that are worth helping their survival. We pollute the oceans so much that unfortunately a lot of marine animal are going to extinct each year, and I'm happy that I had the chance of experimenting this whole knew world. Oh! there's a thing I forgot to tell you! They proposed me a job! You better take this job thank tou! It's not like you have a say in this just saying:).

Do my internships in an Emergency Vet Clinic.

I'm happy to announce you that I made the choice of going at an Emergency Vet Clinic for my internships. I've never been more stressed in my entire life! So many things were happening so fast and in the same time it was crazy. But in general, I loved the experience! The animals were so gentle and let me try to practice some of the things I learned in my program. Also, I just got a big surprise from the clinic... They are offering me a job as a technician now, but with my word to finish my technique. I'm so excited, I cannot believe this! My dream of working in an animal hospital could become real... I have to take it, I'm not giving you any choices this time sorry not sorry.

I'm taking the job as a vet tech at the same emergency hospital I did my internship.

One of the best decisions I made so far! I already know my co-workers and I love them! The job is just perfect! I'm really in my element here. Plus, I'm getting better and better at my job. I'm way less stressed that I was before because I know the place, where the things are and I'm more confident about my knowledge. I'm not treated like a newbie, all my co-workers treat my like a real part of the time and it feels great to be where I'm supposed be!

I'm glad to tell you that the second I finished my internship at the marine sanctuary, I got a call from them telling me they absolutely wanted me in their team, which I was super thankful for. I accepted the offer with pleasure. I'm now a vet tech in a marine sanctuary could you believe this! Conservation of marine animals in the ocean has always been a passion of mine, and now I'm fully involved in this rescue network. So happy to have taken this internship, if I didn't take it, I don't know where I would be right now. Cheers to all the marine animals that I will be able to save.

Going to the job interview for the advertising company.

I'm glad you took this choice. I got the job and I'm working full time in the company I wanted. I really like it here, I'm starting to make friends, and I simply love the job. My dream is to be the head of the advertising, but for now, I'm just the newbie who's trying to make herself a name in the big company. I'm trying to be the most creative and social possible to make as much as contacts I can. In Communication fields, the key is to think outside of the box and to stand out by bringing some magic ideas during meetings.

Unfortunately, I'm sad to tell you that despite all the efforts I put to have this job, I didn't. I love socials media and why not make it a career, but life didn't plan this for me. I guess something better is waiting for me. I'm not giving up, next year I'll come back more prepared I'm much more confident about myself.

Going to live in Hawaii.

This place is something else. So many beautiful views, the beaches are unreal. I love to surf so it was the ideal place to go. I've been doing some surf classes to tourism and my boyfriend is offering VTT rides to tourism also on the mountains. The cost of living is high here, so I'm not sure we are going to stay a year, we'll perhaps come back to Quebec and go back to university soon.

Going to live in Japan.

I'm so happy you chose for us the Japan lifestyle. We learned Japanese, I'm working as a French teaching in an elementary school and my boyfriend is doing painting contracts for clients in Tokyo. I did some classes here in Quebec before leaving to be able to teach in Japan. We love it here, the people are nice, the food is so good, and we established ourselves well here. It's like we've lived here our entire lives. Life is simple here.
