My workplace forever.

I am a student at Ahuntsic College since 2019. I decided to study in Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention because I love criminology but also helping people. We have a lot of career's choices with this technique and I choose to become a correctional officer. Now that I know what my future career will be, I need to decide which penitentiary I want to go to.

I am so happy to have an offer at Archambault Penitentiary! What a dream! It is so close to all my family members and it takes me less than 15 minutes of car. This place is super giant and has a lot of action. I am very exited.

Choice 1 : My training.

Archambault Penitentiary

Go to Bordeaux Prison.

Bordeaux called me and said they really want me here. I said yes of course! It's about 20 minutes of road and it is provincial. I'll work for Quebec government. I heard about Bordeaux since my first day of College, and I am super excited to see how it looks.

Now that I choose which place I want to work in, I need to think about the formation.

My first day in a federal penitentiary.

Today was my first day and I can't believe what I saw. A new prisoner burned a piece of paper and putted the fire everywhere in his unit. All the prisoners had to be escorted. The guy yelled at me, and I was all alone. I got so scared, I didn't know what to do. I called my coworker on the CB.

Choice 1 : My last day of work.

My first day in a Provincial prison.

My coworker and I got a call on our CB saying they may have found drugs and alcohol. We run to escorted all the prisoners, so we could search. I found a bottle of "baboche" . It is illegal to produce outside the prison, imagine inside. I learned that if the alcohol isn't ready or well done, it can kill. We got the jackpot today.

It has been 30 years now that I am a Correctional officer. What is great about this job is that you can retire at a really young age. I don't know what to do. I love my job and I fell good enough to continue for 10 years, but I'm getting old.

Choice 1 : Retired.

Choice 2 : 10 years to go.

My day has come. It's time to raise my hat and give my badge and my gun back to my boss. I feel so sad but grateful at the same time. It has been the best 30 years of my life even if I saw murders, crime, drug deals, intoxication. I helped so many people and I think that's the reason why I will always love my job.
