My Debut as a Business Manager

Last Semester Before Graduation.

During my last semester in business management, we were required to get an internship. I applied at a lot of different places such as Air Canada, Ubisoft, Bell, and PlayStation. During my selection, I tried to think of places where I could get a job in the future. Unfortunately, I only got accepted at Air Canada and PlayStation. I don’t know which one to choose.

Choice 1 : I do my internship at Air Canada.

Choice 2 : I do my internship at PlayStation.

Do my internship at Air Canada.

I’m glad I got my first choice and got accepted for the internship at Air Canada. I’m very happy because that is where my mom uses to work, and her boss recommended me to the business management vice-president. I've got to do my best if I don’t want to embarrass her. Not long before my internship was over, my boss congratulated me. I didn’t even know why yet. He then told me that I got a job there if that’s what I wanted. I was super happy and I couldn’t wait to tell my mom.

Choice 1 : Start again

Choice 2 : Take the job at Air Canada

Choice 3 : Go back to my dead end job.

Air Canada

Do my internship at PlayStation.

I’m glad I get to do my internship at my first choice, PlayStation. I played their consoles for years now and I’m curious to see what type of work business managers do over there. I learned that I could get special privileges If I get the job after the internship, such as discounts on certain products and paid breaks. When my internship finished, my boss told me that he really liked the work I did for him and that he would be happy to give me a job, if that’s what I wanted. I am super excited.

Choice 1 : Start again

Choice 2 : Keep working at Playstation.

Choice 3 : Go back to my dead end job.

PlayStation

Keep working at Playstation and get promoted.

I kept working for PlayStation and I finally got a promotion. After 8 years of working as an accountant, I am now an executive! I'll be taking part in the big decision-making for the future of the company. My dream of working for my favorite gaming company isn't a dream anymore, I am almost at the top. Without surprise, I'm asked for advice that will probably change my life. Do we need to change our whole marketing strategy for the sell of our new console? The decision is on me.

Choice 1 : Keep the same marketing strategy.

Choice 2 : Completely change the marketing strategy.

Choice 3 : Start again

promotion

Go back to my dead end job.

I didn't take the offer I got at Playstation because it was too much work for me. I thought I would love to be a business manager for them, but my expectations were too high. The job was boring and I felt some kind of alienation, as if I didn't fit well with the group of people I was working with. I went back to work to the grocery store I used to work for. I'll save some money for a house, even if it's probably going to take me three hundred years. In the meantime, I'm living in my parents basement and I'm living a sad life.

Choice 1 : Start again

boring job

Keep the job at Air Canada and get promoted.

As I thought, I loved working for Air Canada. It's been 3 years since my internship, and I am not going anywhere else. My mom retired, and I am now doing the exact same job she had as a sales manager. I am working harder than anyone else in my group and got rewarded for it. I got a promotion! After only three years, I'm not going to lie, it surprised me. I've been doing some much good work and good decision-making that I'm promoted to sales director. At my first meeting, I'm asked if we should sell our client's data information to China, for some extra popular flight destinations.

Choice 1 : Start again

Choice 2 : Go with the sell.

Choice 3 : Don't go with the sell idea.

Air canada promotion

Completely change the marketing strategy.

I knew the marketing strategy we were using wasn't as good as everybody else thought, so I proposed to completely change it. I explained my idea and it got approved. Instead of implicating mostly adults in our publicity, we were going to change it for young adults and kids. I thought it was a great idea because we had a bigger audience with them. I was wrong, we didn't. I lost my job, and I'm now back at my dead-end work.

Choice 1 : Start again

bad decision

Keep the same marketing strategy.

I decided to go with the same marketing strategy we used to have because I thought they were working well, since the company was on the top 2 list of gaming consoles. In that case, the safer choice was the best one to take. Our current marketing strategy held its ground, and we broke the sales record for our new console. Eventually my bosses gave me another generous salary raise, and I kept the same position for the rest of my career before retiring.

Choice 1 : Retire

Safe decision

Go with the sell.

I gave my vote to go on with the sell. What I didn't know was that my vote was significant, it was going to brake the balance between decisions. It was a great idea and everything went well. The destinations China offered us were very popular, as we expected, which made our sells hit the sky. What I didn't think about was that the data we gave them was used against our government and our company and was actually illegal. Unfortunately the information got exposed, I lost my job and was sentenced to jail.

Choice 1 : I'm sent to jail, try again

jail

Don't go with the sell idea.

Gaining more destinations was very attractive as a sells' director's point of view, but giving away customer's data... It sounded wrong to me and after a little research, I found out it was illegal. I don't know who proposed this idea, but surely they weren't serious. What's funny is that the person who proposed it was actually serious, it was our VP (vice-president). Unfortunately for him, the idea reached out president and the VP lost his job. Guess who got it 3 years later? ME! What a turn of event! I'm now rich, happy and vice-president of one of the biggest companies in the world.

Choice 1 : Live happily ever after

good decision
