Starting your police career.

You now have just finish you study in the field of Police Technology, and you had successfully graduated from the National police academy of Quebec. You have applied to many city but only two police service have kept your profile to be a police officer with them.They have done your background check with the HR, and they are ready to put you on-the-job-training. Which one is the best for you?

Nice choice! You have chosen one of the biggest Police service in the country. You have a great career that is waiting for you. You have signed all the paper work, and you see how well your wage is. Now the HR want to know where do you want to go. They offer you three neighborhoods station who has vacant position.

Choice 1 : Station 23, Hochelaga.

Choice 2 : Station 27, Ahuntsic.

Choice 3 : Station 38, Royal-Mount.

Laval Police service.

Nice one! You have chosen one of the best Police services of Quebec. Laval is like a little Montreal, you will have a lot of action. You learn quickly the Laval have one of the best compensation packages. You are very happy about that. Now you have to chose where do you want to learn the ropes. In Laval, you only have two sections : East and West. Take the best one for you!

Station 23, Hochelaga.

Not a bad choice! You are now the new intern of the station. You have been placed with one of the oldest members of your team. He is very cool, and you know you will have a lot of fun with him. He explained to you that your OJT will start now, and he will try his best to not get you kill on your first day. You take it as a joke but colleagues tell you that Hochelaga is one of the most dangerous sections, and you have to be careful. Your day started with a big call at the beginning. A female call the 911 because she has been assault by her boyfriend. On place, she opens the door and have her head bleeding. She tells you that her boyfriend is sleeping in her room. What do you do?

It was the best choice that you could have made. Station 27 is the perfect place to learn perfectly how to work properly, and it is not a too much dangerous place. You are placed with a 20-year services officer, but he doesn't like the new ones. He said to you that today is your test drive, and he doesn't want you to disappoint him. You take it the good way, and you said to you that he will teach you great things. You receive your first call from a woman who gets sexual harassment from one of the coworkers. On place, your instructor said that he will let you go alone on the call, and stay in the car to do research on the computer. You go in the boss's office and the woman was waiting for you. She gives you all the information that you need to arrest his coworker. Know you have to chose if you go arrest him alone or call your partner.

Station 38, Royal-Mount.

Not your best choice. Station 38 is one of the places where you have the most amount of call in Montreal. The team is very young, and you are placed with a guy who is a police officer for only three years. He said to you that he will try to show the job the best he can, but himself is already learning at this time. He warns you that the time management is hard to handle because you have too much call at the same time. You started your shift with a call of a pedestrian who saw somebody with a knife on St-Laurent street. On place, you are with many colleagues, and you see the person with a knife in his hand. When you approach him with your gun in hand, the person drop his knife, and you arrest him with your partner. At this moment, your partner started to punch him for no reason, and you know that it is against office politics. What do you do?

Choice 2 : Keep it to yourself, and go to tell the boss after your shift.

East section from Laval.

Not a bad choice! Police officers of Laval in this team are very welcoming. You are placed with a female officer who has a lot of police in her body, and she is happy to have you on-the-job-training. Your trainee started with the shooting center. She explained that you had to pass the shooting test because if not, you will have a foot in the door. You pass the test really well, and she asked you what do you want to do on the patrol because you have no call in.

Choice 1 : Doing nothing and wait for calls.

Choice 2 : Ask her to patrol the area and do a speed control operation.

West section of Laval.

Not the best choice... West section of Laval have a bad team, and you are not welcoming. The team has the reputation to make the new on do a lot of overtime to make them quit. They said to you that you have two choices : getting sucked up in and show them that they are wrong about you or already take you retirement of the Laval police right now.

Choice 1 : Jump in the team and try to show them wrong.

Choice 2 : Be scared and pull back.

Go arrest him immediately.

Wrong choice. You are only two police officers with somebody who is violent. Wake him up and arrest him can be very dangerous. When you wake him up, he pulls out a knife from under his pillow and run in your direction. You kill or you get kill at your first day at the job. Not good.

Good choice, the guy is violent, and you don't know what he can do. When your backup arrives, you can pull him out of his bed with your and his security. Your team is proud of you, and you can come back home alive. Good job. You can now continue your career, put aside, and live your best life.

Not a good idea. You don't know how the guy will react, and you are alone at your first shift. When you go see him, he doesn't want to hear you and start to be aggressive and want to go talk to the victim. When you try to get physical with him, he punched you very hard, and you are not able to do the intervention anymore. The guy starts to run out the building, and you loose him. When you partner came to see you and be aware of the situation, he became mad at you, and said that you have a lack of judgment. He got you out of the street and get you a suspension because you don't have the drive of work.

Best choice you could choose. Your partner has more experience, and can probably handle the situation better than you. When your partner came in, the guy is calm because he saw that you were two. He tries to explain himself, but you put him under arrest. Your partner is proud of your judgment, and want to show you more about the job. He knows that it can be thought for the ego not to be able to do something yourself, but with the time, you will get better. Nice job!

That is the best choice possible. You say to him that you are not comfortable to let that go. This misconduct is not acceptable for you. He understood your point of you, and apologize himself. He explained that he was glad that you talk to him first than snitch him. He said to you that he will go talk to the boss and explained himself. You got his respect, and the respect of the team. That is the good way to start your career.

That is the worst way to work in the police. Now your partner has a bad view of you. She tells the boss about what you say and the boss explained to you that if you wanted to work like that, you are gonna have a misconduct.
